For some time now, this location's Safeway haven't been selling butter mochi. I haven't checked the other locations but this location was the most convenient for me. When I inquired about it to one of the staffs in the bakery department, they told me I can place an order for it. And so I did. (Note that the day I ordered was on a Friday.) They written the order on a carbon paper and gave me the customer portion of the receipt. I requested to pick it up the day after as I had planned it for a potluck. On the day of, I received a phone call in the later half of the day where the staff informed me that they "didn't have it at the front." Confused, I called the bakery department to be answered by a lady with a heavy accent. I tried getting clarification on the matter. I understood that they didn't have it at the front, hence the special order. But it was difficult to comprehend the lady due to her accent as she kept repeating "no more at front" or that they lost my paper of the order. I questioned her how they lost the paper of an order, much less be able to contact me if they lost it. I have nothing against those whose English isn't their first language. But it does affect communication when a confusion like this occurs, so I asked her if I could speak to another staff. I heard her going to the back and indistinct chatter with the other staffs. But only to find the same lady coming back to answer the phone. The lady said "come back tomorrow" and by this point, I was getting a bit frustrated. I placed an order THE DAY BEFORE because they haven't been making it. If they haven't been making it for a while where I had to place a pre-order that they DIDNT COMPLY TO, then why would I think that they'll have it the day after? And I needed it for an event that was occurring on Sat. I don't need it the day after. After a back and forth discussion, the lady went to the back once more. A new voice answered the phone but then they put me on hold for over 3 minute. At that point, it wasn't worth it and I gave up. Because of this whole ordeal, I had to have a last minute plan to bring for my potluck event that day. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and I would NOT be coming here again. I just can't help but to think what's the point of placing an order if you're going to NOT ADHERE TO THE ORDER AND LOSE THE RECEIPT. Best try your luck somewhere else than here.

Always enjoy coming to this Safeway (excluding the donut/mouse incident). Good sales and clean aisles. Five dollar Fridays. App coupons and Just for you deals. Almost all of cashiers and employees are helpful here. If you can't find something that was on sale, just ask and they'll check for you or issue you a rain check ( some exclusions apply). There's also a Starbucks located at this location.

I actually kind of like this Safeway. I remember when it was just getting built from its old location across the street. The whole second floor store situation makes this location weird and quirky. It's kinda hard to use the escalator with a bunch of bags, so I try to park on the elevator side and use that huge elevator. The Safeway store is on the second floor. The first floor is for parking and there are some small stores on the street side of the lot. The elevator lets out right next to Starbucks, so that's cool. This store is very large and there are always a lot of people shopping. I like that things seem to be rotated out (or bought out) quickly and that there are frequent sales on things I normally buy. The best deal happened when I happened to be shopping for a belated Friendsgiving celebration. Turkeys were only $0.49 per pound. What a deal. On my most recent visit, I picked up some sumo oranges for $4.99 per pound. I feel like that's less than Whole Foods and they were sweet and delicious. I'm usually impressed with the flower department at this store, but sometimes it is lacking or the flowers are old. At least they have flowers. The cashiers are nice and if you don't want to talk to a real person about your groceries, there are several self check outs.

We ordered 2 Birthday cakes over the phone. Both cakes were the hits the party. We were amazed with the twin boys fishing in a boat on the ocean design! It was the cutest thing we have ever seen. Also, the pua kenikeni carrot cake was equally gorgeous. The cake designers at Beretania Safeway are excellent artists! We really appreciate their talent and so did everyone at the party! Thanks so much!!!

2 stars lost for placing chicken wings with your BOGO poultry special (wings not included in the sale according to cashier ) You had no sign up to distinguish them but they were all together mixed in and one section. Very confusing. I was told my pork blade also wasn't included and I made her scan and read my coupon it said BLADE. I always give 5 stars but when I got a manager who didn't look concerned She said sorry with no action taken just too bad attitude. I hope my next visit is back to normal.

Parking is a bit crowded today. They have a free parking structure but because it's been super hot lately, everyone's gunning for the shade. Lol!They have an escalator entrance to the main floor to shop. As you walk into the lobby of the parking structure, you'll have to take the elevator to escalator up. Then they have a wagon-lator. You put the shipping cart on it and it goes up with the escalator and I think the same for the coming down part. Didn't do it yet. But yeah... I think that's a cool thing. Kind of like how WALMART KUNIA use to be like. Except theirs was a conveyor belt. Place is HUGE & very nice and busy. It's a good place to shop.

I like the hot and ready to eat entrees from this Safeway. They just completed renovations and have a whole hot entrees section. It's like a buffet line, but they sell it for $9.99 per pound. I love their salt and vinegar fried chicken wings. They go on special from time to time on Fridays for $5 a pound. I also like their chicken salad and deviled egg salad. Their cakes are also very good. This is only one of the few places that makes my favorite tres leche cake. Their fruit tart and strawberry shortcake are delicious. The poke department is hit or miss. I like their raw crab and clam poke. When it comes to the raw fish, Foodland is winning the poke battle.

What a wonderful way to start a shopping experience at SAFEWAY Beretania.
Always save money on reduced items and regular priced.
Today the florist department made it look like a St.Valentine's Day wonderland.
Cashiers are the greatest and Managers are always visibly available.

Here's an ultra convenient Safeway based on location, parking, and product availability. It's bordered by Kinau, South Beretania, and Piikoi, a heavily trafficked area due to H-1 freeway onramps in both directions. There are multiple entry and exit points, adding to ease of access.Love the staff friendliness and availability of free parking. Go through the automated sliding doors, take the escalator or stairway up to second level, and start shopping!

I went to the Pali Safeway at 6:00 am today looking for a birthday sheet cake. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the Pali location didn't have a bakery so all they had was pre-packaged cakes. So I headed over to this location and was impressed by the large selection of cakes. All different sizes and designs. They also had a cool book that had additional cake options that you could order in advance. Prices were a bit high, especially just to write a simple Happy Birthday "Name." But I definitely appreciated being able to get something like this so early in the morning.

Staff like Albert on the night shift whom still hold fast to living with Aloha and having that same work ethic makes all the difference.
Hawaii has changed for the worse…but Albert gives hope that Aloha is still alive despite all of the Americanization/colonization that continues to run rampant in my islands.
Mahalo Albert!
