I just had to write a review after our experience with O’ahu Mortuary. From the time we initially contacted them to the end of our services, we were treated with total respect and kindness. Bryce went above and beyond to ensure that everything went perfectly. Not only did he help us with setup, but he also showed true aloha and compassion to our family. I would highly recommend O’ahu Mortuary. From the entire Kaahu Family we send our sincerest thank you to all staff and directors.

One of the oldest but certainly the most important of cemeteries of Hawaii dating to 1844. The most visited gravesite..? Joseph Campbell-mythologist, scholar, writer!!The 2nd most..? Alexander J Cartwright -founder of modern baseball!

Oahu Mortuary is our family mortuary. Oahu Mortuary have cremated multiple family members over the years. All mortuaries throughout the islands are pretty slammed, but Oahu Mortuary was able to pick up my loved one and cremate them within a reasonable time frame. I called a few other mortuaries, and they didn't pick up, or the call went to some random sales number for an unrelated item (super weird and not sure if the line was re-rerouted or hacked).Raymon Takiue and his staff have been nice, and prompt in following up with me, even when I am several hours ahead in the mainland. They answered my questions, scanned in important documents I needed, allowed me to have a special cremation urn from overseas sent directly to the mortuary, and made sure that I'll have the proper paperwork I need to fly overseas with my loved one's remains. The mortuary itself is older, but they do have EDRS access so the information of your loved one's death is sent directly and electronically to the state so they can issue the death certificate (if it isn't a medical examiner case). The cemetery grounds are beautiful, and the offices are quiet, and you wait outside if you need to pick up any documents. There's always parking, and it's a quick drive from town. Mahalo to Raymond and Anela for their help through this difficult time, and with dealing with my calls from the mainland!

I was lost as what to do for my brother in law who passed young and suddenly. Anella answered my 1,000 questions. She's a gem. Her and Lea are angels on earth. We have peaceful closure thanks to Lea. Everyone is so patient and kind. Every person we encountered was special. What a beautiful place to call your final home.

I had several horrible experiences with this mortuary. Retention of employees is very low for whatever reason and had to deal with two funeral directors just to arrange a cremation. Then had to deal with a third funeral director when I picked up the remains because the two left. I will never use this place again. I would not recommend this place due to obvious management issues and a lack of empathy.

I just want to say thank you for your kindness during this time. Aaron made the process very easy and lots of empathy. There were a few issues in the process but everything was solved quickly. They were very accommodating in helping me in getting my mom 's memorial changed. Also I was leaving to return to the mainland and they were able to get my mom ready for me to view her in few hours which I really appreciated. Even with my sadness they made the process very easy .

I just found out from my sister that no one has returned her calls. She has called them numerous times and have been given the run around. We are still waiting to hear when we may expect to receive the original death certificates; the obituary has not been done and other items that we paid for and have questions. Why is the manager not helping or Miki, the original person I spoke to, and acted as if he really cared. I guess that's what these people do, pretend, so they can make the sale.

When we were told to start planning for our ailing mother, with heavy hearts we spoke to several mortuaries. All we wanted for mom is a quick and simple cremation service so she did not spend too much time in the refrigerator and we could take her home right away. At the time we spoke to Miki, he sounded very sincere and responsive so we chose to use Oahu Mortuary. We thought the process would be smooth. Were we very mistaken!!!We always had to call the office every step of the way. After we made the payment for the service, the communication and the process got worse. We had to call to find out if she actually got cremated and when can we pick her up. When we came to get her, she was in a standard urn, not the engraved Koa urn that we paid for. We were told the engraving was not done and the funeral arranger will drop it off the next business day. We never heard back from that funeral arranger, who we discovered later that she no longer works for the company. Nobody bothered to notify us. I reached out to Miki who claimed he could no longer help us at this point?????I called Nate (the new manager) listing my concerns: Koa urn Death Notice/Obituary Letter from the funeral home since death certificate will take time He said he'll call me back. Never received a call back from him. One week later, I called him back - again he said he'll call me in an hour and never got a call. It's been over a week since the 2nd call.I don't think he even wrote my number. That is so unprofessional. We finally got the Koa urn, which took a while to find in the office.I am afraid that the death notice/obituary will never be placed by them - which by the way is part of the basic services that we paid.We still have to wait and see and pray that we get the death certificates that we also paid for.It is very upsetting how this process added to the stress to our grieving family.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Raymond Takiue of Oahu Mortuary and I must say, he exceeded my expectations. Raymond went above and beyond to ensure that my family and I had a seamless and stress-free experience during a difficult time.My father passed away while on a cruise ship and was taken off in Honolulu. We needed to cremate him in order to bring him back to the mainland, and Raymond was instrumental in making that happen. He worked tirelessly to coordinate with the medical examiner and was able to confirm that they were aware of the boat docking, which gave us peace of mind during a stressful time. Not only did Raymond work quickly to get my father's ashes to us ahead of schedule, but he also coordinated a viewing that allowed us to say goodbye to my father one last time. Throughout the entire process, Raymond was compassionate, understanding, and professional. He took the time to answer all of our questions and ensured that we were kept up-to-date on the status of everything. To top it all off, Raymond even showed us an article from the local paper on the delays in death certificates, which set our expectations that the certificates may be delayed. This level of transparency and communication was greatly appreciated and helped us plan accordingly.I highly recommend Oahu Mortuary and Raymond Takiue for anyone in need of funeral services. Raymond's ability to go above and beyond, work the problem, and get things done as quickly as possible is a testament to his commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Thank you, Raymond, for all of your help during this difficult time.

This review is for Daniel Kapahu who is one of the Funeral Directors at Oahu Mortuary. He was very kind, professional, and helpful throughout this entire process. For those of you who have never had a loved one pass away and are in charge of funeral plans, you are not alone. Daniel has helped me with every step and has made the planning very smooth for me. He gave me his personal number which I have contacted him several times whether it was early morning or late evening when I had questions. Let me just add - funeral directors work around the clock and there are always operators 24/7...they don't get enough praise for the work they do. Mahalo Daniel and the staff at Oahu Mortuary!

My dad passed away 10/19/22, we contacted Oahu Mortuary for transport & cremation services. Once dad was with them, it was difficult to set up an appointment to arrange services. I understand they deal with death daily, but your staff should treat each family with empathy. Seniah lacks empathy. I conveyed to her that we didn't want dad kept in their "temperature controlled environment" long & wanted to cremate him as quickly as possible. He was finally cremated on 11/02/22. If two weeks is quick in their books, that's pretty sad. Especially when they advertise that they offer "Next Day Cremation Services". At one point she wasn't responding to my emails, so I called the main office & left a message with the operator AND left Seniah a voicemail on her direct line (which she provided us) - she claimed she never received any of the voicemail/messages left for her?? OK, what about my email? No empathy AND no professional business etiquette? The first week of December, the office called to say the death certificate was ready for pick up. The female at the office had a hard time finding the certificate, and we waited a while. A correction needed to be made, and on 12/16/22 we received a call that the corrected/new death certificate was ready for pick up. When we got to the office, the male found the certificates & told me to wait a moment while he walked out of the office. Upon returning, he apologized & said the certificates weren't ready - the original ones were still there and he doesn't know why they called to tell me they were ready. To say I was livid is an understatement. The office workers don't have any idea what they're doing. They don't truly understand or care that families are grieving, and the additional stress they put on families by being incompetent is unacceptable! I finally picked up the new/corrected certificate 12/29/22. As far as the service for dad, TRISTAN was absolutely amazing. Oahu Mortuary is lucky to have Tristan as a Funeral Director. He is most definitely their saving grace.

Currently working with Oahu Mortuary and am absolutely not impressed with the timeframes they are giving me on cremation. They said they would call me back and never do, I have to follow up with them to get answers.
