You can easily make a reservation from the Nippon Rent-a-Car website in Japan, and Japanese people will be on-site to help you, so if you are not comfortable with English, it is a good idea to rent a car here.
It's located inside the Hilton Hawaiian Village, so it's hard to find the location, so it's a good idea to check in advance.

The location of the store is difficult to find, but they speak Japanese and are kind and courteous.

【comprehensive evaluation】
・I'm satisfied. There were no particular problems.
[Good points]
・There was a USB port for audio. This was a great help as driving while using Google Maps consumes a lot of battery power.
・The 7-seater minivan was spacious and had plenty of trunk space. A stroller was also easily accommodated.
[Points that caught my attention]
・Please note that there is no car navigation system. I think it is essential to use a map app.
・There was a scene where I thought the car had stalled because the car's engine was a little slow to start.

I can't believe the attitude of the staff. His tone was harsh and dismissive, and I couldn't imagine him working in customer service. When I visited, there was a woman sitting at the counter working on a computer, and a middle-aged man wearing glasses, but I couldn't feel the kindness of either of them at all in their words. I was surprised that some people were so cold. It is very disappointing. The only thing that I felt was terrible was the customer service attitude, but looking at other reviews, it seems that the work details are not that good either. Please think carefully if you are using it. If this opinion reaches the store directly, I would like them to reconsider the customer service attitude of their employees and whether they are performing their duties properly before it becomes a major problem.

It's like renting space inside Alamo Rental Car.
Even so, I can't forgive the unkind, unfriendly, and extremely arrogant attitude of the staff at Alamo Rent-A-Car, which is the exact opposite of the Hawaiian Spirits that I've come to realize in Hawaii for the first time in a while!
If you want to rent, use Nippon Rent a Car for reliable service and support! However, it is expensive (・_・;

This was my first and possibly last time renting a car from Alamo Rent A Car. If you are unfortunate enough to need their roadside assistance, you will probably be SOL. Recently, I rented a car in Honolulu, HI and planned to spend the day on the North Shore. Around 7:30am, we headed to the North Shore in a VW Beetle convertible. After driving about 45 min, the "check coolant" warning appeared, implying the fluid levels were not serviced before we rented the car. Imagine the concern, given it was going to be a 90 degree day. I called roadside assistance and their first solution was for me to drive back to Honolulu to exchange the car. I promptly said no and the next solution was to wait for another vehicle to be delivered. Finally, four hours later (around 12pm), we received a replacement VW Beetle convertible. Around 5pm, when returning to the car, the keyfob was not working. Inside the car were our cell phones and we could not open the doors. With the help of bystanders, we figured out how to manually open the driver side door. However, the car would not start because the keyfob was not being recognized. At this point, we are on the side of the road next to a beach. Good samaritans drove to town and brought us back a new battery for the keyfob but the car still wouldn't start. At 6pm, I called roadside assistance again. The first person told us to charge the keyfob in center console. This did not work. Again, I made another call to roadside assistance. They insisted it must be a dead car battery (even though I insisted the keyfob was the issue) and instead of sending a tow truck , would only send a person to try to jump the car. We waited until 7:45pm for the person with the jumper cables. As predicted, it was not the car battery and was still a keyfob issue. For at least the fourth time that day, I called roadside assistance again. They dispatched a tow truck, which arrived around 9pm. This tow truck loaded up the beetle. The driver got a call stating there might be some confusion and he might at the wrong location. He continued to drive anyway for about 15-20 min and then the driver received another call. He hung up and said to us "I am not getting paid for this tow. You can either give me cash to get to your destination or I leave you here." Since there was no way we were paying him, he immediately stopped the truck and within seconds unloaded the beetle onto the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Roadside assistance sent the wrong tow truck! Now, it's 9:30pm and we're stranded again! We make yet another call to roadside assistance who, after much arguing, dispatches another tow truck, which arrived around 10:45pm. Roadside assistance had promised that the driver would take us directly to our hotel so that "we can rest after a long day." When the driver arrives, he loads up the car without saying a word and then asked if we were expecting a car. Much to our surprise, the driver had no idea he was taking passengers. Roadside assistance neglected to inform him he was taking passengers! He was about to leave us on the side of the road but luckily agreed to let us come with him. First, he told us he would take us to a "safe location" to request an Uber but we are forever thankful he took us to our hotel. Alamo was supposed to provide another vehicle but this never happened. So if you rent from Alamo Rent-A-Car, pray you don't need roadside assistance. You might need a car exchanged, be sent the wrong tow truck, and be left stranded on the side of the road not only once but possibly twice all in the span of a one-day rental.

We had a family trip to Honolulu, Hawaii in May 7-13, 2019. On May 9, we planned one-day trip to Waimea Valley Falls. We had a great experience with Alamo rent company. Everything was done on time. We got our car very quickly - we even didn't wait. We've got a very nice clean car - felt ourselves special with the offer of a nice car. The car GPS helped us with the route as our phone GPS sometimes didn't work properly and we lost couple of times. We returned the car on the same day and the return was smooth and quick as well. We highly recommend Alamo when you rent the car in Honolulu. The company is located very close to Ilikai hotel where we stayed for a week.

Amazing customer service. We made a reservation 10 minutes before walking in after wasting our time at a different car rental agency. The staff helped us secure a car in less than 5 minutes. I am so happy with my experience and will only come her from now on. Highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) I can not believe the attitude of a clerk. As you know, I did not think that it was like a person who worked as a customer with a tone like to throw it away. When I asked, there was a woman sitting in a chair at a window and working a personal computer and a man of middle-aged glasses, but neither of us could feel the kindness from the words at all, so this in Hawaii I was surprised to see that there was a cold person. It is very disappointing. The only thing that I felt was terrible was the attitude of the hospitality, but when I look at other reviews, I do not see much work content. Those who use it please think twice. And if this opinion comes directly to the shop, I would like you to review once again whether the attitude of the employees' service attitude and the work are being carried out properly before becoming a big problem.

(Translated by Google) It's the worst. We are billed for a baby seat that we have not borrowed from any other major company without any explanation. If you have someone to borrow, please do not believe only the receipt, please also check the details of the card. We recommend borrowing with another company.
