Nijiya Market is a unique Japanese marketplace located in the parking garage of the Ala Moana shopping center. It is a wonderful place for a quick, inexpensive meal or snacks, with a large in-store dining area. The deli and bento area offers a great variety of dishes, including sushi, sashimi, bentos with fish or protein like karaage chicken and katsu, spicy salmon bowls, negitoro, handmade ohagi, udon, rice balls, and oden. Bentos come with brown or white rice and range from four to seven dollars. Portions are good and the fish usually looks very fresh. The market also offers a wide variety of Japanese groceries and high-quality produce for cooking. Most Japanese foods and drinks are available, ranging from beer and yogurt drinks to non-sugar beverage options, though drinks from the fridges are sometimes not cold. A few aisles are dedicated to hygiene care items like shampoo and toothpaste. The market is very clean, with provided utensils, a microwave, sanitary wipes, and an eating area.
Most Japanese foods are available. I ate sushi at eat-in. Change the Japanese tea bag and paper cup at the cash register. I think the tuna in this sushi was yellowfin tuna. @kyon7
