Fare warning!Do not stay here! Maybe the drinks are good, but the reviews are lies!.You have to pay for Everything even after your nightly rate.$25 microwave rental$100 beach chair rental/umbrella rental$5.00 wash/ $5.00 dryerIf you check out early they will still try and charge you resort fee for your entire stay.Outside of cleaning and service staff this is a dry sucking establishment that is overly rated. The food is Highly disgusting and overly pricedThe hotel is old and falling apart. The furniture is peeling, and check your linen smh. The manager is not very hospital or customer service driven. He's all "technicalities".... i will post this review everywhere! How are they even apart of the Marriott brand, this was the worst!Oh yeah good beach location, but you're literally seated on top of each other. No space it's super compact and i mean compact.... I'm not exaggerating

Great place and a solid 4 maybe 4.5 star hotel. I'll focus on the critics and there aren't many:- The AC filter in our room was filthy dirty, which caused my son to cough when in use. Fortunately we were there in December, so were able to keep the window open, but it's disappointing that at $500+ a night it's not on the management's standard list of routing maintenance.- Cockroach in the pool, on two separate occasions. I get it, it's a tropical place, but again, someone should routinely check on the pools in the morning, which is especially a turn off since the pool is adjacent to their expensive restaurants.- The sidewalk in front of the hotel had broken bricks which caused folks with strollers to struggle and often catapult the kids. It might belong to the city, I don't know, but it's unacceptable if you want to strive to be a 4.5 star hotel. There were other little things, but overall the hotel is great and we'd recommend it.

Beautiful Historic Hotel in the Center of WaiikikiWe stayed in Moana Surfrider for 6 nights (November 11-16 ) at the Diamond wing Ocean Front room. The room is nicely decorated and my favorite part is the balcony. It was nice waking up to sit on the chair in the morning seeing people walk on the beach or surfing. One evening I saw a Hula Dance on the ground area due to private party from my room balcony. It was wonderful.Love the Banyan Tree area with a nice restaurant and beach bar. The main restaurant is really nice as well. The rocking chairs all around the hotel make the place seem lovely and cozy. The lobby bar with life music was awesome so nice with lovely music. I had a Swedish massage one day, the waiting area, jacuzzi and massage were all great. The pool is too small but we are on the beach thus I still had a great time.Moana Surfrider is centrally located. The hotel is so close to Royal Hawaiian Village and international Market and it is on Kalakaua Avenue similar to 5th Avenue in New York thus you will not get bored. We played golf at the Prince Golf Course and went to Shark Cove as well. You can call the parking in advance so you do not have to wait too long. Though the parking was expensive but it is the price in Waikiki. The reason I gave 4 stars on my review because the pool is too small for us to enjoy our relax time at the hotel area.On the night before we left, there was a false fire alarm. Luckily that we were on the 5th floor thus it was no problem to walk down. I enjoyed my stay here. It is a beautiful classy hotel if you want to be in the middle of everything. We had a great time!

A beautiful historic hotel that was decorated great for Christmas! I highly recommend, the people here are great, it's in an awesome location, and as always with a Westin it is clean and the rooms are very comfortable. Further, they included a welcome gift that was greatly appreciated by my wife and I.

I love this place. It was beautiful I went for my birthday here. The only thing I have to say was about the room. The bedding smelled like chlorine and the pool. Get a stronger detergent/fabric softener to get rid of the chlorine smell. But, I had an amazing time went to the museum, meet new people, and enjoyed Hawaii as a whole. The beach was also beautiful and the spa was amazing! Want to go back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Surfrider. The hotel is beautiful and sits right on Waikiki beach. Easy access to local shops and amenities but on the beach. Our room overlooked the ocean with made morning coffee and evening cocktails a delight. We ate in the restaurant most mornings. the buffet is well appointed and the food was very good. Service in the hotel was generally outstanding. Staff was courteous and helpful, never seeming rushed. We parked our car with the hotel which was expensive, but valet service was top-notched and efficient. This was a great stay and we would stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with a lot of issues. Room was city facing and we heard every noise from the street. As II was typing this a car was reviving the engine down the Avenue. You hear everything. The concierges aren’t too helpful. They don’t ask if you need help as you stand by their table looking at the different services offered. You have to actually get their attention for assistance. The rooms smell old and musty. Beach access is great , but that’s it. Overpriced. I’ve stayed in Waikiki many times and this place disappoints. Also you’re charged a $45 resort fee for each day and you still have to pay for chairs and umbrellas if you want to use them on the beach VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS MARRIOTT PROPERTY!

I love this place! I'm a local and my husband and I snuck away from the kids for a night at this hotel. It is beautiful, the staff were awesome, the rooms are on the small side in the banyan wing but really nice with a chaise lounge with tons of pillows in front of the window with a view. Perfect for reading/relaxing. They thought of little details pretty well IMO. The pool area is nice, the food was mediocre by the pool, and the location can't be beat.

I cannot express how fantastic this experience was. I only had a day to really relax - everyone helped in achieving that. Kawena at the front desk, especially, went above and beyond ensuring I can do nothing other than return to The First Lady of the Island. The room's view, overlooking the beach, pool, and Diamond Head will not be forgotten. The food was solid all round. Just walking the grounds, through the historic parts of the hotel was a simple joy as well. Even the live music, while not what I'd typically go for, felt right.Loved everything about the place.

As a Lifetime titanium member, I am dissatisfied, no lounge, no compensation for lack of, breakfast is Continental only or an $18 credit against 200% marked up food. Expensive drinks at bar. $45/ resort fee for what? Pool closes at 6. You get to compete for tiny chairs (provided your elite status) you can take anywhere (only 20 at hotel) General lack of chairs, places to sit, most get taken with towels, only no people, put in the old hotel, which smells very musty. When you call them they say what do you want me to do about it? After asking every day on third night finally got upgraded to tower. My advice is if you stay here go eat and drink elsewhere, Wolfgang steak is 10 times better for breakfast and half the cost. Drinks are better and less expensive as well. Marriott has bastardized what Starwood use to be. Clearly can see cost cutting measures from corporate everywhere, I am sorry I spent over a 1200 nights with this chain. I used to love going to the Royal Hawaiian more than five visits over the years, but Marriott ruined that one too.

We absolutely loved the atmosphere, service, and the resort-like feel of this hotel despite it being right on the beach AND in the perfect location street-wise! It's walkable to anywhere along Waikiki beach. The rooms are a little aged but still immaculately clean, and the bidet toilets were so nice to have. Staff were always friendly. Not sure what people are expecting from Elite benefits when half of the US has Platinum status... hotels in NA and especially Hawaii are known to not put Status members on pedestals, it's really an issue with Marriott. Like a wise Disney villain once said, "when everyone's super, no one is". I will say we did get bumped to an ocean-view room in the tower as Plat members, which was very appreciated.

Luv. This. Place. !!!Look, it’s not for the teen & 20’s crowd. However, once you are ready for a sophisticated and fun place to chill, then this is one of your best options on the beach in Waikiki. The other would be the Halekulani. These are mid-size resorts. Not a mega-center like several other excellent hotels on the beach. So you get a more intimate experience and personal care here.If it’s possible, I prefer to be here over any other.Rooms: There are two different buildings and two different experiences here. Original building slightly smaller rooms and slightly more vintage style. But ambiance for sure. Oh! And a nice ocean front view for many of the rooms. The high rise tower… the rooms a bit larger and, due to the design of the balconies, almost every room has an ocean view available from the balcony. The ocean front rooms are awesome.Everything is as expected in a Marriott / Sheraton. Bonvoy members get so extra perks.Walkability: Look, you’re in the middle of Waikiki beach. You can walk it in either direction. Also, go out the front door and you’re in the middle of the shopping and dining district. If you’re looking for nature and hikes and scuba trips. Get in a car. It’s not here.Food & drinks: Great beach bar menu. Generous drinks. And friendly service.

Our most favorite spot to stay on Waikiki. Visited several times and we fall in love more and more with each experience. The vallet staff is so accommodating. The front desk staff is so courteous and such a pleasant experience. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and the views are breathtaking. Overall, I highly recommend this spot for your honeymoon or family vacation. It's centrally located with lots of dining and shopping options so you can walk basically anywhere you need. There are 2 ABC stores directly across the street from the hotel. The early 1900's style really sets the romance, laid back, stress free vibe. The rocking chairs are such a nice addition. The back pool/bar area is featured around the massive historic banyan tree. Idealistic for the perfect sunset dinner or cocktail.Such a unique Waikiki experience. We stayed here for our honeymoon in 2010 and family vacation in 2023. And we will stay here again when we return to Oahu.No worries about safety, the hotel is located next to the police department. For a more quiet experience book a room that is ocean front, the street side can be a little loud since you are in the middle of everything.

Staying at the Moana Surfrider really made me consider what I value in my accommodations. As one of the most expensive, if not most expensive hotel in the area there is a certain level of quality to expect, and I feel for the price Westin Hotels really falls short here.Public Areas - Beautiful, but what is not in this area? Most of the hotel lobbies are nice and spacious. This one lacks seating area.Rooms - Nothing to write home about, dated. If you don't get a full ocean view it's deffinatly not worth the price. Expect to hear your neighbor through the double door adjoining room.Service - Very lacking. Room service was shut down during Covid and never repopened as of August 2023. House cleaning is minimal. There is supposed to be a concierge but they are never at the desk... There might only be a desk? Need milk for your baby? Try the ABC across the street.Food - decent, but at $34 for two eggs, ham and toast it should be better than decent.Overall I feel like there are other hotels in the area that I rather spend my money at next time I return.
