My favorite and go to place for car repairs. Kavika is my favorite person who will always greet his customers with a smile and genuine conversation. I can't recommend this place enough for their warmth and care for your car. I don't get the feeling that they're trying to exploit my lack of knowledge and sometimes would even advice on me on the most cost effective ways to have my car fixed. I recommend that you support local business and support this award winning mechanic.

We've been bringing our 2104 Prius to Masakis since we bought it. They've kept the car in excellent service all along a t a good price with excellent service. Our car finally had a real problem with the brake system and Masaki's chose to let us in on the fact that the $3,000+ repair was under an extended factory warranty, rather than taking the repair themselves. They gave us paperwork to take to the dealer and have the repair done there for free. Masakis is clearly focused on long term customer relationships over short term gains.

Honest, great communication and fair pricing. I didn’t have a “go to” mechanic on island until Masaki’s worked on and fixed my Leaf. Now I recommend them for all repairs.

DO NOT GO to this business! This Kawika Masaki lied about the part I ordered and I paid in front of him and he said come in 2 days we'll have the part , I called 2 days later asking is it there and should I come , he paused , murmured something ... I realized he forgot , I asked if he forgot about placing the order , he replied it's coming Finally it came 4 days later ... it took the guy to fix it for almost a week and a half . The work was to change hose and draing gas tank because there was a water ... literally 1 hour job !!! My other mechanic told . Finally came to the office and this guy presented me the bill $839 , I'm like ok ... and I see this tried to charge for the same part twice , I'm like dude I already paid for that part !!! You trying to scam or what ? He replied, let me speak to the owner ... haha You are the owner I said , aren't you ? I paid 600 Also guys , they charge $180 for labor which is outrageous. Hawaii state labor charge $125 Most of the shops charge $130-150

We got a flat tire in our rental car and Avis customer service was absolutely awful. Luckily we were close to Masaki's Auto Repair - they saved our day and vacation!! Really nice staff and quick service for the new tire to get us back on our way. Highly recommend Masaki's for your car needs.

Had my Prius fixed here (actuator and breaks/rotors replaced). Dashboard lights went off and everything was working until about a month later and everything came back. I brought it back in and it turns out the tubing connection needed to be tighter. I expressed the unfairness of being charged to fix something I had left the shop with and was refunded for the fix. Daryl was very understanding and overall I had the best experience possible while dealing with my old Toyota in needs of lots of love and money.

What I most appreciate about the Masaki's are their work/business ethic. Their repair work was excellent and their prices were fair. I am 75 yrs and have worked with several different repair shops over the years. I really appreciate the honesty, integrity and genuine customer service that is an integral part of the Masaki brothers' auto repair business. If you value the same qualities, they are your "go to" auto repair service.

I acknowledge your response and will only reiterate my FEELING for a customer to check all options before making a decision. I never stated that they should be "cheapest option", yet i feel as though experts in the hybrid business should be knowledgeable in local prices. It concerns me that they don't familiarize themselves with local prices to offer what I consider a competitive rate. The response from this company only encourages me to double down on my advice to CHECK OUT OTHER OPTIONS. Accountability is important when it comes to high expense purchases. I was told to stay away from a couple other sources after making calls. Thank you for your time Benjamin.

I'm updating my review since contacting AAA Hawaii's regional manager. I contacted Masaki's by phone to make my 1st ever appointment. First I confirmed the free inspection advertised on AAA, via an email as offering a 40 point inspection for free on your car, a $60 value. Confirmed. Cool! I made the appointment by phone after confirming the free inspection with the gentleman at Masaki's. I asked a few other questions to see if they are a full service shop. I tried to get a cost on a basic service like simply refilling the freon/AC but they wouldn't give me any information over the phone. They said we have to look at the car 1st. This was my 1st red flag. Brought my car in at 7:30 AM as requested. Kawika said they don't do the free 40 point inspection, in fact the owner, Daryl Masaki said they've never offered it. He said he doesn't know why they are on the list. I asked him why not correct the mistake, he just smiled. This is different that what I was promised by phone. If they told me up front I would never have made an appointment and wasted my time. To add insult to injury, the office guy Kawika, he's new, wasn't very nice to this senior after wasting my time. I don't recommend this shop, and I know they're not very honest and up front based on my personal experience and talking to the owner face-to-face. Access to this business is really challenging because it's a very busy street and their parking lot is always maxed out even at 7am. Stay away! Update: Masaki's is no longer a AAA of Hawaii approved repair shop and removed from the AAA list. Dishonesty doesn't pay! Don't take my word for it, go to AAA of Hawaii's website and see for yourself. They are off the list for good reason. How do I know? Because I talked to the regional manager of AAA Hawai. Don't be fooled like I was. Let's all watch out for each other and report dishonest business practices. This is an honest review. Why would I make up such an experience! There are so many other auto repair shops in Honolulu.

Dave and Daryl are very nice guys! They are helpful, attentive and pretty cool folks. Hooked me up a good deal on a new hybrid battery replacement for 2007 Toyota Prius. Very good alternative to Toyota Servco where I almost got ripped off trying to to check why the "airbag icon" was on on the dashboard.

I have been hesitant to write this review for a while now, but feel that people need to be aware of my experience in order to protect themselves and their pockets.I brought my Prius in to Masaki’s a few months ago with a hybrid braking issue. The car had all the warning lights on. The next day they called me informing me that there was an issue with the brake booster. He informed me that he already contacted Toyota and they informed him there was no warranty coverage (he even told me that I don’t have to verify this myself) and it would have to be paid out of pocket. He quoted me over $3000 to do the job, and also told me that there was a brake booster part shortage (I assume to create urgency) and I would be lucky to even get the part for them to complete the job at that price. He also told me I needed a new o2 sensor which he quoted me about $500 to fix. I got a bit suspicious and did some research including calling the dealer. I found out that there is an extended service bulletin on the brake booster (widely known issue) and the dealer would cover it under warranty. I ended up taking it in to Toyota who replaced the brake parts within a day, and also replaced the o2 sensor for $320 (much cheaper than Masaki’s quoted me). When I asked the dealer about a part shortage they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.Overall I feel I was intentionally lied to, and like I narrowly avoided being ripped off. I had used Maskaki’s before and had a decent experience, but this was absolutely abhorrent.Shame on you Masaki’s for intentionally trying to mislead me and try to charge me an insane amount of money.Really disturbing!

First time here, had a great experience. Super friendly and easy to trust from the very beginning. A car rattling noise ended up being nothing big and they only charged me for a half hour of labor. Great price, very communicative, and car was ready after just half a day at the shop. Will definitely go back
