Unfortunately, we had a bad experience here. We had a very sick kitten, and getting her in to see the vet took weeks. In the meantime we had to take her to emergency care which cost a lot of money. When we finally got to our initial appointment, the vet brushed off her clearly horrible state. Because of Covid we had to wait in the car, and it was not explained to us what they did inside or tested her for. The only thing the vet recommended was to try different types of food since she wasn't gaining weight, but we had already tried about 20 and we were desperate for other solutions. They didn't address her running nose or congestion or lethargy at all. I wish they had been clearer on what outcomes we could expect, as just a few days later our kitten passed away. The worst part is when we called the clinic to let them know and figure out what the heck to do, the receptionist said 'huh, that's weird. You can bring her in, and we will dispose of her'. This was the absolute worst thing I could have heard on one of the worst days of my life. I don't blame them for the kitten passing away, as she was sick for a long time, but their lack of empathy was shocking and I wish they had tried harder to give her care.

Love this Vet clinic! I am so thankful that Dr. Obara was so kind to my cat Peaches. He made her feel comfy and was so patient with her. Def take your pet here! Both my dogs and cat have GREAT experiences with him. He is kind and very informative. Make sure you ask for his availability! You will be in good hands!

Our go to vet - Dr. O and Dr. Bu are both good, compassionate, empathetic. One of the nurses though could use some improvement...

I made an intake appointment to get an estimate on spaying my cat. She is in perfect health and all they did was take her weight. They charged me $78 for a 5 minute exam. Then gave me an estimate of $575 to get her fixed. Not an affordable place to go.

I called to look into spaying my puppy at this vet. There are so many great reviews online, but I didnʻt see any about this topic specifically. The receptionist told me about the general surgical procedures and gave the cost for an initial exam and bloodwork, but she had been ordered to not even give out a range of what the cost for spaying the animal could be (I didnʻt even insist on an actual quote). I felt uncomfortable making an initial appointment that would cost $275 including bloodwork before even understanding what the cost of her procedure might be here. It felt like writing a blank check. Other offices were able to at least give a cost range, given her age, the assumption that sheʻs healthy, and the type of dog she was. I did say I understood it would not be an actual quote. I appreciate the information I was given, but without some kind of idea of cost, it makes me unlikely to take my puppy in for this initial visit. Feeling sad, because the reviews here look fairly good otherwise.

Did not have a good experience. We had our litter puppies get their dew claws removed and tails docked. In less than 24hr 2 stitches on the tails had opened and we went back to be re stitched and as soon as we left 2 more had opened. The stitches were loose on every puppy. We had to go to a different vet for them to be redone and no issues since.

Best vet clinic on the island! Dr. Obara and his staff are just the best... Got my puppy Bear fully up to date with his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped with them. They break down cost, after care, etc. Super helpful! What's nice is they even have an app! I'm so glad I found a place I truly feel comfortable with and most importantly, that takes such good care of my sweet boy.

I'm thankful I was able to bring my cat Keanu to be seen on a Monday morning. I know Mondays can be crazy for veterinary hospitals especially when they're closed on Sundays. My cat Keanu lost his appetite and looked uncomfortable and in pain the whole weekend. I did what I could at home but knew he needed to be seen. Dr. Obara and his vet tech Tiffany were great. Tiffany kept me updated every step of the way. Literally the day after I took Keanu to be seen he perked up and was feeling so much better. It's been a week now and he's back to his crazy self. Thanks so much!

I would give zero stars if possible after being here the doctor Obara is very neglectful and will sweep through patients as quickly as possible, they missed a heart murmur in my dog which would have just took a listen with a stethoscope, idk maybe he's short on hearing. Idk why they don't hire more vets but he must be hard to get along with at work. When I met him in his office he kept his dog locked in his office for 8 plus hours at a time while his little dog would pee and poop all over the place, poor guy. I've also seen them throwing their trash out right in the street. Having a sharps container is not enough when the employees or god forsake dr. Is throwing needles in the trash. Then there's the rest, there is no dumpster or any form of proper disposal of potentially hazardous waste. Ppl remember that when you bring your dog or cat to a vet there are many sick animals. Things like parvo, heart worms, tapeworms and roundworms along with leptospirosis and hepatitis. The fact that they just leave there trash in the street is neglectful and irresponsible. Every other vet I've been to has there own locked dumpster and a share container for this reason.

This clinic deserves an updated review that goes more in depth into the awesome care they provide for my rats. Whether it be for tooth trimming throughout Cinnamon's life, treatment for URI's, or end of life services, Kalihi Pet Clinic has been my go to clinic for compassionate and timely care. They modestly acknowledge that they don't specialize in exotics care, but they always try their best to treat even their smallest clients. And if the problem is ever too big for them to treat, they refer out to a clinic that can. I have to give this clinic props for the kind and professional care they give. All their staff has been so respectful to my rats, even if they didn't expect to see rats in their clinic. Many of their vet techs have had pet rats in the past, and they're always so happy to see my girls and sneak in a cuddle with them. Not even clinics that claim to specialize in rat care treat them with as much respect and care as this clinic does. My most recent visit to this clinic was for a sad reason. To say goodbye to Oreo and Marshmallow. While I was initially told that I couldn't be present for the euthanasia, in the end they gave me the option to be present which I deeply appreciated. Doctor Obara and staff were all very kind and patient. My girls were able to pass peacefully cuddled together. Doctor gave me plenty of time alone with my girls, and also spent time with me in the room chatting about the ratties' personalities, their quirks, how special they are. It was very comforting and helped me to feel at peace with losing both at once. Thank you Doctor Obara and staff for all your compassionate care! I will keep bringing my girls here. If you end up with more rattie clients, you can blame me, because I recommend you to everyone I know with pet rats.

My family and I have been going to Kalihi Pet Clinic for 14 years now. Dr. Lau and Dr. Obara both took care of our two dogs, Shiba and Diesel, who have since passed. When Dr. Lau retired, we continued seeing Dr. Obara so our fur babies would continue receiving the best care. When my sister in law was going to take her pups to the mainland, Dr. Obara did their health certificates. When they returned back home, they were our Vet while one of the pups had to stay in quarantine for a couple of days. Everyone at the clinic is great and I am so thankful for Dr. Obara and his team. Thank you for everything you do! Love Shiba, Diesel, Rocky, Harley, Jet, Thor, Callie and Suki.

The most caring and compassionate pet clinic I've been to. Dr. Obara and staff truly care about your pet. There are long waits at times, but when you are helped, they do their best to take their time with you by listening, asking questions, and providing great advice. My late dog, Zeus, was in their care from the time we adopted him from HHS 10 years ago to his last final days with us as of Dec. 2023. We had to put him down as he was no longer eating/functioning on his own. I called a few days after his passing to notify the office that my dog had passed and gave a thanks to the doctor and staff. The receptionist voiced her concern and within the same week, my family and I received the most heartfelt letter in his memory. Thank you again for helping our dog live his best life.
