I was recently staying at the Hale Koa Resort and had the pleasure of visiting the Jewels of Hale Koa. Rose who worked there was so kind and helpful in helping me decide on my favorite pieces of Hawaiian jewelry. They had many lovely items and very well priced. A big hello to Rose from Stephanie from Virginia!

When I moved here 30 years ago, this hotel, in part supported by our local service members through moral and welfare funds, welcome the local military community to use the pool, outdoor showers, rest rooms, free parking and the gym. First the free parking became paid parking, then the gym started charging membership. Now the pool is for for hotel guests only, as are the outdoor showers and rest rooms. Shame on you. However, it is a well maintained nice hotel, so if you are thinking of staying here on a visit to Hawaii, you should. ( Just tell them when you get here that they should again support the local military ohana)

DOD resort! No taxes. No fees. Parking $120 max or $20 a day. Our room was partial ocean view for $195 a night. Multiple pools on premise. Yes, they have 2 adult only pools! Multiple places to eat - Bibas, KoKos, Barefoot Pool Bar, Happys ... parking is across the street- you park not valet. They do have bell hops here- they were great for us with all of our luggage. You can tip them in cash. Spa is also on site- we had a couples massage and had a relaxing time. Prices were very reasonable. I wish the pools were open later. They stated it was because of short staffing. Room was clean. Average room - nothing fancy. Cable tv. No microwave in room- it's located in vending / Ice.

In regards to the pickleball courts near the post office. I wish could give there no stars. My father made reservations for our family to play pickleball this evening. So I went to the the bell desk to get the fob pass to get in the courts but when we got there the gates were pad locked. Basically no communication between the security who locks the gates and the person in charge of the pickleball courts. Once you guys learn how to communication with each other then simply send out a notification that the courts will be closed for whatever reason to whoever had reservations. And Assistance Manage Tony wasn't any help at all. Felt like he was more concerned that my 72 year old father in law didn't bring his ID himself to the bell desk -repeated himself 5 times and over talking me. He missing the whole point of a retired veteran trying to enjoy time with the family but instead having a really bad experience.

Pricey but the experience outweighs the cost. Being right on the beach, clean and welcoming environment, and in the heart of downtown Waikiki. Stayed here with family while on active duty, which is the majority of people staying at this high-end accommodations. The kids loved the water activities, especially the beach.

So with this hotel you must be in the active military or a retired veteran to book. The rooms are fine but no real views from the tower we are staying in. There is an adult pool that closes early (5pm) and a main pool no idea how early it closes. Neither pool had bar servers but the bar is very close to the main pool not the adult pool. WOW. The adult pool is closed off from the beach and relatively small for the number of grown folks that are booked here. Over all it's nice. Has a couple of restaurants and a grill (restaurant). Over all good for the price in Waikiki as far as hotels go. There is a good amount of beachfront that adds to the hotel being good to book.

Very nice military hotel in Waikiki. Haven't been here in a long time and everything seemed well maintained. Surprised that it is not crowded. Perhaps, it is not holiday season, yet. Very relaxing just sit in the huge lobby & enjoy the cool breeze. No better way to do R & R.

My family and I went here for our Easter Brunch. It was an easy check-in for our table, and we were seated in a nice area on the lanai. They had a lot of food options. It was a nice place for a family gathering.

So a few things. First and foremost the check in at this place takes an ungodly amount of time. Expect to stand in line for 45 minutes plus when checking in. If you're active duty and what to visit friends here on island and plan to catch up at the pool, don't. There are NO DAY PASSES available. This is despite that literally every hotel around Hale Koa offers them. Also despite the pool being incredibly low census. There's hardly anyone there. So the capacity and space is there. Claiming covid is no longer an acceptable reason. Towels are provided at the pool. You're allowed to take them to the beach. There are multiple places to eat. All are affordable options. The luau is mediocre and not worth it. Don't waste the money on the extra expensive seats. The view is basically the same from every seat. The best thing on the menu is Mai tais. They use multiple fresh ingredients to make them. We'll worth the $10. Parking is expensive even if you're staying at the hotel. $20 is ridiculous for parking when you already paid for the room and they have a massive garage that is a ten minute walk to. You HAVE TO make reservations for breakfast or you get glared at and told to wait. The Hilton next door is often cheaper and has a better pool area. Better off staying there.

If I get this service as an higher grade officer, I pity those who are lower ranking. From a no- exception 11:00 check out on New Year's day! Merciless management. Even if we got in on a delayed flight, too long wait lines at the elevator because HALF of them are broken so that even when you get into the elevator, you have to stop at every floor. There's a joke about Honolulu city and county workers. They do the sitting and counting. But these workers are probably the ones who got rejected from that.Poor service from the front desk guy named Mat (one t). Maybe have pity, his parents forgot a "t" on his name. But he smiles and says you get a partial ocean view. Every room gets a partial ocean view even if its lousy over the trash bins. And it feels lousy after walking through the super cold hallway on the east wing. I like snow, but this is ridiculous. I can ski minus 20° but the coldness on the east wing hallways is ridiculous. Also a waste of energy total waste of energy. Bad omen on management. Can't even leave your car to bring your luggage up to your room. In the parking lot is the FARTHEST you've ever seen, I promise. Hallways are cold on the east wing, probably to cool you down after the long walk from the parking lot across the street. Even if the parking lot is the farthest in the world it's still an added $20!!!! RRRRIP OOFFFFFF. There isn't a single hotel in Waikiki with parking farther than this. And I've ever stayed in hotels from Asia to Europe! It's across the street, down long, and even stairs, no shuttle, So far that if you leave something in the car, that's important, you might just leave it anyway. Add a new meaning of aloha: Fake Smile, say hello, even though they're thinking they don't give a sh*t. There's no valet. So no choice here. And don't forget they won't let you park there to even drop off your luggage to move it up to your room. I think the management is smug because they got prime property in Waikiki, but it's a shame. Manager should be fired. Not even enough soap in the shower to cover one person. No microwave in the room, no extras, not even bottles of water, no filtered water on any floor. So where did the money go ?Money spent on overly large drawers that were probably $3000 each for a wave artwork that could probably scratch your legs and arms. There's a reason why Hilton and Marriott don't carry drawers this big. It's not practical. it looks nepotistic. Shows stupid management, stupid decision makers. But knowing the federal government, after I make this comment they'll go in and buy $6000 drawers. So enjoy. It's the only advantage that you have staying at this place. No tub in the room, only a shower. The pool closes at 8 PM along with a hot tub which you'll need because the hallways are so cold on the East Wing. No glass cups in the room, only paper cups for milk. But with the service, I wouldn't even trust glass cups being cleaned anyway. Worst of Federally managed hotels.

There is always room for growth.First time here, and we loved it! The hotel was clean, and I could not express enough how happy I was not to have hair randomly in my "clean" room.Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the views are BEAUTIFUL! The luau was a great experience. The majority of the food was just okay, however the pork...chef's kiss. Ambiance could be better..specifically talking about the chairs. The location is close to the Hilton and newly arrived high-end shops (LV, Chanel, Dior, etc). I personally would of loved if the city was closer to its natural state, but I can visit another island next time. I wish the pool stayed open later, 9-5 doesn't allow for guest to do any of the day tours and return to a nice time at the pool. All in all, it was a great stay and would be open to staying again!

The buffet is open again and it is fabulous! I'm not connected to the military in any way so the only time I come here is when I'm invited. I was invited to a breakfast party and I'm so happy to come back to this wonderful buffet. They have the usual; cereal station, omelette station, waffles, pancakes, fruit, sausages, eggs benedict, hash, potatoes, bread station..... I could go on and on, they have everything anyone would want for breakfast. I enjoyed seeing my friends again because seriously - I've spent the last 2 years mostly in isolation and I thought it would be a good time to go out before another surge of a new Covid variant hits Hawaii. My niece flew in from Kauai with her baby and it is these special moments when loved ones gather together that I will cherish most about Hale Koa's buffet. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the long walk to the parking garage, but maybe that's not a bad thing, since you burn off a few of the many calories you've just ingested lol.

Another wonderful stay at the Hale Koa Hotel! We were very fortunate to get one of the newly renovated rooms with wood/tile floors and the Full ocean view! I loved the fact that the carpet is gone! We had wonderful service from Romeo/ Romie when our TV needed some attention. He went above and beyond expectations to assist us! We spent many afternoons by the pool sipping on Mai tai's. My husband and I both vote the Beach Bar as making the BEST Mai tai's! We also enjoyed days on the beach when we rented chairs and an umbrella as such a reasonable cost. We have to brag about the wonderful pulled pork nachos and chili. My husband is not a nacho lover but, after he tried them he insisted on eating them three times during our trip! We were a little skeptical about a buffet, however we tried the breakfast buffet at KoKo's and were pleasantly surprised. Food was good and served in a manner which we felt "safe" and our server, Mike, was great! He provided us some wonderful history, new places to check out, and was so attentive. If you are planning a trip, start it like we do now, book a massage the first day at the Heaven on Earth Spa on site. Ask for Sun or Jennifer!

It's a beautiful hotel. The pools are lovely and well maintained. The grounds are also gorgeous. I just have one question: do you all just not like kids? The pool rules are really bizarre. Lifeguards are non stop telling people to stop doing things. Little nothings like tossing a small ball or keeping room between chairs. The killer: at the top of each hour, kids have to get out for 15 minutes. Why? Safety, they say but that doesn't make sense. Plus- you have two adult pools only. Why is this necessary? Also after swimming for a week, a lifeguard pulls my niece out and makes her do a swim test. She felt singled out, embarrassed, and got very upset. She could stand in the freaking pool. And she can totally swim - was swimming all week! She passed, but didn't want to swim the rest of the day. What gives? Why so anti kids. The other hotels are not like this.

This resort is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, I loved my stay here and want to return. Firstly it's huge, nice, and very clean. This is a military hotel so the prices for a stay are phenomenal. I am so happy I was able to get reservations. If you're military I strongly recommend you stay here. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The resort is centrally located near everything if you wanted to you can walk to downtown only several of blocks. We did the luau which was amazing and a must if you are going to the islands
