Who would have ever known that Costco's bakery can whip out some pretty amazing birthday cakes or cakes in general. Frosting on the top was a bit to sugary for me but the filling between was very delicious. Feel free to give them a try.

They are open to 8:30pm. It seems like they COSTCO will let you enter until 8:30pm. One thing I realized that getting to COSTCO at a very late, close to closing time, is there was no hot chicken or ribs to obtain. However, lines went super fast. The cashier was very helpful and nice.So Much Parking. All the shopping carts Work Well

Way less busy than iwilei. Parking in front and all around! It is smaller than the iwilei Costco but it has all the essentials you need. Definitely worth driving if you're near Kahala or Kaimuki area. Avoid the crowd in town! They also have self check out stands too that don't have a long line either! Downside is they close early on Sundays!

Cafeteria is quick and the food never disappoints! Big portions and low prices. Lots of covered outdoor seating too!

This has to be the least craziest Costco on the island in terms of crowds. Lucky for me, it's the closest one to my residence. Don't get me wrong... weekends are a hot mess! Good luck in grabbing a parking spot and getting through the long lines at the cashier. However if you're able to go on a weekday, it's easier to navigate through the store and the checkout lines are less busy. What I love most about Costco on the island are the local items that they offer, such as Portuguese sausage, poke, arare, Island Princess honey-roasted mac nuts, choco mochi, Hamakua mac nut brittle, Honolulu Cookie Company mini bites, sweet potato & taro chips, furikake shrimp chips and kamaboko dip. These are a few of my favorite things, and it's what makes Costco in Hawaii unique to those on the mainland.Aside from offering the local snacks and items at a reasonable price, the rest of the store and products are comparable to Costco on the mainland. If you're in the Hawaii Kai area, it's well worth coming to this location. This particular store is clean and organized, and while I typically dread going to Costco in general, I actually look forward to my adventures at this location. The staff is always friendly and full of aloha!

Chalk this up to the "wish we had one" column. Those on the mainland may say, "Why would I fly x amount of hours to shop at Costco?". Just walk this store and you'll find the answer. After a morning of shopping and dodging the sporadic showers as we drove across the island, we stopped here before heading back to the hotel. Call it a scouting trip. As we checked for available local products, my eyes stared at something I've never seen in their warehouse (yelp.com/user_local_phot…). As I admired this, I noticed the adjoining refrigerator next to it, noticing this assortment of fresh sushi and as seen here (yelp.com/user_local_phot…), (yelp.com/user_local_phot…), and (yelp.com/user_local_phot…). Man, what a selection! The rest of the store is about what you'd expect with typing warehouse products with the bonus of locally made items. If you are on the east side of the island, this is your most convenient location. Parking is less challenging than the Iwilei one in town.

I've been to many Costco's but none as locally creative as this one. Beyond the standards that you would expect, they offer so many local options. And the employees are always helpful. Sometimes I go just so I can explore more new local favorites. When I first moved here, I purchased lots of great Aloha shirts for only $19 each. And the poke is always super fresh. Also, in the refrigerated area they have many pan-Asian and fresh food options that you won't find on the mainland. And yep, they have snorkeling gear, surf boards, and for those wanting to purchase gifts for peeps back on the mainland, they provide a massive selection of traditional Hawaiian treats, all beautifully packaged. Oh, and stop by to look at the selections of gorgeous leis for when you pick up family and friends at the airport or for special occasions. I could go on, but it is best for you to discover the rest on your own. Enjoy!

The customer service at this store is awful. Everytime the cashiers are extremely rude, short and grouchy for no reason.

Foodcourt staff extremely rude and condescending. Called and asked to place a large order. First the staff person said, "please hurry let's get this order started". I asked if they had a certain item for a large order pickup and the person on the phone talked way too fast - when I asked him to repeat what he said he said, in these exact words, "it's not that hard to understand". Literally caught me off guard. Please retrain your employees. It's honestly embarrassing.

I used to think this Costco was a bit classier and not as crowded as the one in Iwilei, but I don't think so anymore. Last time I went here, it was super crowded inside, and just an irritating experience. I prefer Sam's Club in town for ease of parking and smaller crowds, but my wife wants the Costco membership for the least expensive gas on the island (which is available at Iwilei and not at the Hawaii Kai store). I jokingly tell her I know I'm going to heaven because I've already been to hell, which is how I think of Costco. From all the people lazily blocking the aisles, to the folks lining up for samples as if they've been deprived of a meal for centuries, I just find it to be a noxious environment. All of you Costco lovers: I am doing you a magnanimous favor by letting my wife do all the shopping there, because you don't need to hear my sarcastic comments as I walk through the store. Interestingly, though, one of the locations I went to near Salt Lake City recently was uncrowded, and almost a pleasure to visit. Not one sarcastic comment escaped from my mouth during the entire visit!!!

The people that count our carts on the way out need to minimize "talking story" with their friends. This allows the line to move faster out the store. Because of you, you are holding up the damn line.

The licensed optician, Rachelle, at Costco Hawaii Kai location was super kind and great in helping me figure out the best purchase options utilizing our vision insurance plans! Highly recommend seeing her for optic questions. Mahalo!!

I'm not rating Costco the store. I'm rating the food snack bar outside. The boy that was taking orders and cashiering at the counter had gloves on. But he goes to get hot dogs and doesn't change his gloves! Sticks his hands in the hot dogs, grabs a hot dog out of the pan, grabs a bun opens it and throws the hot dog in the bun. And throws the completed hot dog in a paper bag. Doesn't wrap it in foil! The he grabs a the bag and tossed them on the counter so he can collect the money!!!! Without ever changing his gloves!!! I'm sure this is a department of health violation!!!! I don't care how short of help you are, this is disgusting!!!!!
