Good selection of things including Hawaiian shirts! Prices are decent for Hawaii! Some pricier options(usually for unworn clothes).

Mediocre quality of limited goods priced at retail.Aggressive greater finally let up when I said I liked to discover thrift stores on my own.

After three visits I've never found a treasure or even anything I wanted here. And the prices are far higher than other thrift stores.

Old Lady was very rude kicking us out because we walked in with no mask mind you there was no sign outside that masks were required and didn’t even give us a chance to try and get a face mask do not come here and spend money if people are rude like that

The treasure hunt continues. . . at the Central Union Church Thrift Store. I've passed by this store countless times. I always see the open sign on the side of the road every Saturday. Finally decided to check it out. This thrift store is a part of the huge church located at the corner of Punahou and Beretania St. You can't miss it. The thrift store is right before the church along Beretania. There is plenty of shaded parking. It's only open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9AM-3PM. When I went, there were still covid restrictions. A very nice lady sits out front to register everyone coming in, take their temperatures, and limit the amount of customers inside. For first timers, you need to register and sign a waiver form. Not exactly sure why this was needed, but I hope I don't receive late night calls asking for monetary donations over the phone. This store has A LOT of stuff--top to bottom. Everything was clean and well organized, and surprisingly evenly distributed. There's a good amount of Asian style cups and plates and figures if that's your thing. Everything was priced accordingly. Nothing outrageous, but not many great deals. Found a random Miami Dolphins Josh Rosen jersey. Even though I'm a fan. I would never get this lol. Why would anyone even get this in the first place?? When I first caught a glimpse of it, I thought it was #13. Nope! The staff here is super friendly and nice. They also note how much you spent. What's all this information for? Overall, a nice store to be thrifty. Friendly staff, decent prices, and a nice selection of items.

Nice job of controlling the number of people in The shop. People are nice... It's pretty small, nicely displayed. I thought it had a funky smell. Did not find what I was looking for.

My family goes to the CUC, so I try to support the Thrift Shop whenever I can-- either by donating or by shopping. In the many years I've been visiting, it's always been cash or local check only. Except for one time in June 2021 (first time visiting since covid-19) that they accepted credit card but apparently which was very short-lived. From what I understand, like many of the Church's events/programs, the Thrift Shop is run by volunteers, from those sorting goods to the cashier to the lady checking people in. I've helped out at the food distribution on Wednesdays, and I can testify there are some really rude people but there are kind and lovely ones too. It depends on the day, their mood, and your luck. In other words, keep your expectations low and you won't be shocked/disappointed. It's true they're serious about covid safety measures. Shoppers must register at the front, take their temperature, and wait at the inside entrance to give their name to the minder. Five people shopping at a time, 25-minute limit if there's a line. They're supposed to cross out the name of active shoppers once they leave. The system is not fool-proof though because shoppers either barge in OR they don't tell the cashier/minder that they're leaving. For example, yesterday we saw two shoppers leave the thrift shop but the minder popped her head out to say she can't admit anyone yet coz there are still five people shopping, which prompted a regular shopper to ask if there were seven people in there? The goods are neatly arranged and displayed. One minder gave me the spiel (50% off yellow tags--I think it changes per month) and identified the location of the yellow tagged clothing. I later overheard her kindly offering to take an incoming shopper directly to the section he needs to go. She was one of the nicer ones. If you're planning to pay by check, you gotta show your driver's license. The cashier wrote my license number and phone number on the check. I felt a bit iffy about that; next time I will definitely bring cash!!! I purchased a food processor, but forgot to confirm it still works. All other gadgets were labeled "working" except this one. I got to my car and realized this so I called to ask what if it doesn't work. Would have been quicker to go in again to ask but I didn't want to hassle with the covid measures again (I was actually allowed to go back in, but idk if I was within the five-people limit.) Long story short, the manager on the phone was not very nice or helpful; the cashier tested the food processor. I mean$4 is not much but it's a boba drink. If anyone's interested, they don't do refunds but they'll offer store credit if something you bought is malfunctioning. Within a reasonable timeframe, which can be tricky since they open only two days a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays). Kids are not allowed inside, and I'm not sure what the cutoff age is-- my 12-year-old was told to wait for me outside. Overall, 3.5 stars. But only if you're not picky and can tolerate the quirks. #47

This place is very serious about COVID (for which I was very grateful)! Prior to entry there is a temperature check and a required waiver with your information for contact tracing. They only allow 5 people in the store and there is a 25-minute limit on shopping time when there is a line (so courteous and both people working apologized for the wait!). This is a cash/check only establishment. Prices are reasonable, items are in good condition, staff is friendly and everything is extremely well organized. There are many new with tags items (higher prices). Plentiful and easy parking. Check it out!

I'm in the same boat as these other moms! I purposely went out of my way to come here to spend my money at a church! my kids are 2 and 1, The lady in the front said she could watch them as I shop or I could take one of them and hold them in the store as she watched the other Sorry but lady I don't know you and would not trust anyone with my kids. It's really a shame you are discriminating against innocent kids! I hope the church reads this. I hope they would take a step back and think WWJD (what would Jesus do) do you really think he would turn anyone away Anyone can catch anything just by stepping out of their house and spread it anywhere they go this has always been known. If customers are wearing mask like you ask them too, then everyone should be safe right? As you're taking temperatures at the door to make sure no one is sick when they enter as well. this truly makes me sad our freedom is being taken away everywhere God bless you guys

Before pandemic, we would always bring our kids to the thrift store because they would always love to find things to buy with their money that they have earned. We decided to go today for the first time in a long time. We were greeted by a lady at the door who told us that our 8 year old daughter (who was the one that wanted to shop) could not enter due to the new rules…Every other shop allows children, but I guess not this one. I don’t know about you, but isn’t this age discrimination. This place isn’t a bar or a club that serves alcohol, so to not allow a child that has been there before and deny them to shop is absurd. You lost a long standing family that shopped and even donated to this store. Our money and donations are going somewhere else. Never again! ?
