Everyone at this bank is very helpful! And for all the people complaining about, "OH I HAD TO TAKE MY CAP/HAT OFF," It is the federal law to remove all head wear, sunglasses, and finalize all your cellphone calls while in a bank PERIOD. IF YOU CANT HANDLE THAT, THEN DOWNLOAD THE APP AND DO MOBILE DEPOSITS YOU IDIOTS!!! Anyway, great service ASB Makiki ????

Another great service to this branch. Shout out to Vicky or Veronica for calling me up and said my business checks that I ordered got returned back to their branch. The mail post office put a label return to sender. But the address was correct. But that person showed good customer service by calling me and said they'll hold the checks just come down and show my ID and she'll release it to me. If anyone out there looking for a bank to do business go to this branch they are very helpful. Thank you to Vicky and as well for Eric who I opened the business account with.

I have been banking with American Savings Bank for around 9 years, maybe more. In that time, I have deposited about 40 (rough estimate) checks with my first and last name with my nickname in parentheses, because I have gone by that nickname since I was a kid- my name was much too common when I entered school- there were three of us with the same first and last on the first day of K-1. So I go by "Toby" So today I went in and the teller spent a long time looking at my check and the computer, until I finally asked if there was a problem. She said she would not deposit that check with my nickname on it. I explained that they had a historical precedence of them depositing many checks like this in the recent and distant past- but she would not budge. I did raise my voice a bit, because I kind of had an idea of what this was stemming from, and I did not like it. I decided to go get a new check from my client, which took about an hour, and made me late for an appointment, and I deposited it with no troubles at the Ward Ave branch. The only difference in me between when they would deposit my checks and when they adamantly wouldn't: I dyed my hair blue last week for a performance I was in. I think her decision- if arbitrary as the manager said it was- was very possibly just because she did not like how I looked. Which is something I have had to deal with historically, as I play in bands and do change my hair color now and then. Anyhow- moot point, descrimination- because corporate and management will adamantly deny it, as would be in their best interest. What would really be in corporate's best interest is if their manager instructed the tellers to use one set of rules for everyone, and to not deviate from them unless it is some special circumstance. I mean- I am not going to use a bank that I am not confident will deposit my money because the teller is having a bad day. Other things about American Savings: They rush up to you at the door to ask you to use the ATM, but pointedly omit the fact that the ATM will hold anything over a certain amount (I have never been able to discern which amount, because each employee tells me a different one, and seems uncertain when questioned. Again- management. Also when I asked why they had removed the deposit slips from the kiosks, the teller told me it was because they want us to use the ATM more. Well, corporate- you think we should be forced into using the ATM even though we want to deal with a real human? You aren't very familiar with humans. We don't like being forced to do things, and certainly not just to shore up your bottom line and allow you to fire some more employees- no thanks. Try to be a little more honest in your advertising, too- like the advert that plays on the TV behind the counter that tells you how great it is to use the ATM for deposits, but nowhere in that advert does it mention holds on funds. I'm done. Switching banks. You should too.

I'd give this bank a zero star if I could. I walked in there this afternoon with a baseball cap on and a check in hand. After almost five minutes of waiting in line, I was approached by security to ask me to remove my baseball cap. Mind you, my face was completely visible. Way to go ASB! Treat your customers like they're there to rob you. I'll be switching to BoH.
