This post is long overdue. My husband and I bought this awesome mermaid piece from Barbara over a year ago when we were there on vacation. Since then, we have moved twice. Finally, the mermaid has a home in our new homes' ocean-themed bathroom?Barbara's shop is awesome! Definitely worth the trip.

My husband and I spent 7 weeks on the big Island and all the art galleries in the Kona area were beautiful but I was looking for something unique, memorable and special. I found it in Barbara Hanson's studio in the remote Holualoa Village! I absolutely fell in love with the large wooden turtle with its shell covered in Barbara's artwork. As a bonus she was working in the studio that day so we could see the hard working process to her beautiful creations. I must say it was definitely our favorite shopping day of the 7 weeks. Now...back to the sea for more sun, snorkeling and peace to fill my soul before returning to frigid Minnesota. Thank you Barbara and your fabulous sales associate for our glorious day. Mahalo

*What a wonderful artist, so helpful and attentive to our 5 year old. So many things to check out, we bought a really cool xmas ornament and some other items. Love her work and her positive vibes, a MUST stop. Google maps is wrong she is in a new space next to the post office. Very cool little studio!

Absolutely beautiful and unique designs. In addition to larger art pieces, there are many smaller items such as jewelry and home goods that would make great gifts. Everything has her beautiful handcrafted clay art designs. Highly recommend!

Very reasonable items to purchase and pack on a plane. They hosted musical talent for first Friday. I was looking for a "evil eye" representation and the owner laughed saying it wasn't an evil eye kind of place.
