The team is overall very friendly and polite, but we were basically turned away yesterday. Thinking through the situation left us baffled and wondering about some of the sales practices. We were interested in a specific car and my husband came earlier in the week to test drive and then we returned together yesterday so I could see the car. During the test drive, we discussed that we previously had a Kia that had an engine issue and we had problems getting it resolved with the warranty and the salesperson said “well they are Koreans. That is why their warrantys are so long because the cars aren’t good.” I was offended because I am part Korean (I would be even if I wasn’t Korean) and was surprised at this comment. I didn’t say anything as I didn’t want the situation to get awkward as we were driving. We got back to the lot, we agreed the car was in great shape overall, but the steel wheels all had rust, and the driver’s side door had a lot of scratching. The inside was very clean and the mileage was good. We did research beforehand and found out there is a known transmission issue for models of that year, and the mileage is set about 4k over when the warranty expires. So we took all of this into consideration and made a lower offer inside the car after the test drive and our salesperson said to come inside the office. He spoke with his manager and came back with a counter offer that was 2k above our initial offer. Also he said that there was an issue with our financing. We had done our homework and were pre-approved from a large well-known credit union at a good rate and we brought that documentation and loan #. He went into a story about a customer that had committed to buying a car, then ended up buying a car from a family member and broke the deal. So he says, “we cannot hold the car for you.” And we are confused by this statement because we are literally trying to buy this car, and he’s speaking about someone we do not know and their situation has nothing to do with us. We came prepared with financing but they wanted us to re-open credit reports and review their in-house financing options. He asked about our credit scores and the pre-approved financing rate, we have excellent credit so we got a good rate. We agreed if they could take care of the taxes amount (about $540) then we would consider re-opening our credit to check rates with them, but we are going to stick with the best rate. And we even signed a hand written note “$540 off price buy car today.” We even offered to put a downpayment. He went back to manager then returned said he did everything he could, but they feel they could get full price from another customer, they appreciated our offer though. So we said ok and thank you and left.

BEST experience ever with this purchase. We didn’t even consider a Nissan then the friendliness of Kama’aina brought us back. Kevin was hilarious and we highly suggest him as a salesperson. The management, financing, all of it went so smooth and we couldn’t be happier. MAHALO KAMAAINA NISSAN! Customers for life!

The service department is the best. 1st time working with Donovan who is polite and patient. Kamaaina Nissan gives great service! If I were to get a new car, would be from them because of the service dept.
Also I liked the new "system" where they send the info to my phone.
