Just had an emergency and this shop was quick to help me out of my jam. Super friendly staff and professionalism at its best. Definitely recommend if in town and need some kine work done.

Dropped my brand new 6mo old car off here, then came back to pick it up and one of my car windows is totally smashed. Owner says she has no idea what happened to it. Footage of cameras is mysteriously missing. Shop is not cooperating with police investigation. Would rather service my car myself than ever do business with these people again.REPLY: On 3 separate occasions, I was told to leave my car overnight for service. You have a key drop box for this instances. I was assured my car would safe. You were NOT on vacation when it happened, it happened the day before Tracy left for vacation. My car was broken at 7 in the morning. You contacted me AFTER doing service on my car that my window was “cracked.” It’s shattered beyond repair. You were in the office for 8 hours that day and had plenty of time to watch the tape from 3 cameras and see what happened. Obviously nothing happened on those cameras and one of your workers broke it and you’re covering it up.

Owner says she has no idea what happened and the footage from all 3 cameras on the front of building is missing. Would recommend you go anywhere else. The people here are beyond rude and dishonest. Don't trust your cars with them.

I was very very disappointed in there service or should I say lack of service. This was the second time I brought my Camry there because they didn't have enough time to work on it the first time , along with a safety check. Mind you these are scheduled appointments with a description of the problem along with the year make and model. On the second appointment they took 15 minutes to do an estimate which they had to send later because they were so busy!! I never received an estimate! Obviously they either don't want to do the work or they are unqualified to do the work. They should have just told me and not waisted my time. I won't be back! Already found a better shop

If I were to write this review seven years ago it would have been 5 stars hands down. The service was impeccable and I totally trusted this place. Now I'm really really sad to say that this place is now dishonest and TOTALLY unreliable. I brought my Toyota 4Runner to them because the fuses kept burning out. A friend of mine checked it out and said it was a short and it should be fixed. I was told by Kalawe that water was leaking onto the fuses which accounted for the short and he moved the fuse box. Well, it kept burning out. I took the truck back telling them the fuse keeps burning out and had to take the truck back to them twice more. If he moved the fuse box because of water getting to it why did the fuse keep burning out: The last time I took my truck there it was to change the fuse once again. I got a call later that day saying that my truck was fixed but when I started the truck the problem WAS NOT fixed. I took my truck to another mechanic my mom goes too and they fixed the short. So Kalawe LIED when he said he moved the fuses. In addition, the girl now answering the phone is totally unreliable, lazy and frickin rude. She doesn't answer messages and has an attitude like they don't need my business so I'm never going back there. Although the service was great before, it no longer is. I've had enough of them.

Just got a 2007 ls460. Made an appointment through David at ServcoLexus on Oahu. Tracy here in Hilo helped me when I arrived. Did not even have to enter the building. Nice during this covid 19 times. Next came out the technician Maru on his monthly visit to Hilo from Honolulu. He was very professional and personable. He spoke highly of Brian the owner of Kalawe's as being very thorough. Eagerly look forward to next appointments when parts arrive and servicing of my Lexus by his staff.

I just moved here from Los Angeles and I have a Lexus RX 350. I needed a oil change . I didn't want to just go to a jiffy lube. Long story short I got super lucky finding this place! I have been there twice and Brian knows his cars. Excellent customer service, and very comfortable waiting area and the place is clean! And fair prices too! Need oil changed? Repairs? Look no further this is where to bring your car. By the way... when he's finished with my car he backs it in so it's super easy for me just to drive out of the parking spot hey that's a big deal to me!!! Thank you Brian

I take my car to Kalawe's for all work performed on my Lexus. I live in Kona and drive to Hilo, because Brian is a certified Lexus repair technician and knows what he is doing. He has kept my car going for more than 8 years. I am at 205,000 miles and no breakdowns. As a single parent who needs reliable service, it can't get better than that. The bonus is that he lets me plan ahead for repairs and maintenance so that I can budget the jobs. For example, he will let me know that the brakes should be changed within xx months or xxx miles driven. Also, he does not push me to use any specific dealer, such as; Brian told me I needed new tires soon and did not try to push me to any specific location. When I told him about Costco tires and the great price, he agreed that it was a good option. When you want a knowledgeable mechanic that will take care of your car for many years, go with somebody you trust and can rely on. For me, that is Brian, the owner of Kalawe's Auto.

I went to Kalawe's Auto because my old shop closed down and I saw a sign that said they specialize in Toyota and Lexus cars. I brought my car in for a rattling noise at the front wheel on 1/21/15. At closing time the next day they informed me that my tie rod and lower ball joint needed to be replaced and that I could come pick up my car until the parts came in. They charged me over $80 just for telling me what was wrong with the car and required a $200 dollar deposit for the work. This should have been a hint that I wasn't in the right place. I had them order the parts anyway because I had family coming in a month and didn't want them to have to rent a car. The receptionist took a $200 deposit from me and said the parts should be in within the week... ha. I called a week later, as I hadn't heard back and the receptionist informed me the parts weren't in yet and that they'd call me. A second week went by so I called again. The receptionist told me she'd have to look for my information and asked if she could call back. This was close to closing time at the end of the week and I never received a call back. The next week I called the last number that called me from this business, I called at 430, during operating hours. The woman informed me this was her personal cell phone and she was not at work anymore. I apologized and said I'd call the next day. I called the next day and she again said she'd have to look it up and get back to me. The call never comes... The following Monday 2/16 (almost a month from the original appointment) I called early in the morning. She again had the nerve to say she would have to call me back. I let her know that this was unacceptable and she apologized and said she'd call right back. As I was waiting for a ride to get there, it took me about three hours to show up at the shop (still no call). She looked surprised and I asked her what the heck was going on with my car. She said she was sorry that it would be a few more days because they never ordered the parts. THEY NEVER ORDERED IT!! After all of the conversations we had, they never even bothered to check the status of my parts. They just kept stringing me along. I immediately demanded my deposit back and left. I feel silly that I let it go for so long. Four weeks... 1/21-2/16 I took my car to a well-known local competitor across the highway and they ordered the same parts from the same place. It took two days.. My family ended up having to rent a car for a week while they were out here thanks to this shop. Next report goes to the BBB. Just don't do it.
