I am not a huge fan of aggressive sales driven store models. I can't say whether the associates are paid on commission, here but they behave as of they are. Probably better off perusing their selection online unless you are into having people fall all over you the moment you walk through the door. Highly unlikely I'll ever go back.Putting that aside. The selection was okay here. We were looking at flooring options which were limited to click in place wood-like panel sorts of things. No tile or the like. Everything was custom order, so don't expect to walk out with product just because you visit in person. Not a good experience for me, and I see no value in elaborating further. I would consider examining the online alternatives instead.

This is my Favorite store. People are helpful and friendly, and there is so much Made in the USA stuff! It is such a relief to find a store that makes an effort to offer USA made quality products. I appreciate it.

The people in their paint department are either extremely under trained or they are spending their time with the caulking gun up their nose. I was looking for an oil based top coat to cover an oil based primer (sold to me by HPM) for my wood fence. The woman at their Kamuela paint counter insisted that they no longer carry oil based paint. When I showed her two cans of oil paint on their shelf she got an insulted look on her face and started stuttering some BS. I then went to the Hilo store (their head office) where Michael V. assured me the oil based paint he took from the shelf was what was needed in this application after I gave him a written copy detailing the paint used as a primer. The paint he sold us is used exclusively for metal applications. USELESS INDIVIDUAL!! If all HPM can hire are warm bodies then they should post this information in a conspicuous location so customers can lower their expectations. So far I have spent $30.00 on gas traveling to their locations only to find two remedial achievers at the most expensive building supply stores on the island.
