The Home Depot in Hilo is described as more than just a hardware store, providing tools, appliances, outdoor furniture, and building materials to local residents. Many customers are fans of the store, stating they will drive past competitors to visit, and are certain there isn't a better hardware store in the vicinity. The store itself is noted as very clean and well organized. A significant highlight is the strong Aloha vibe and spirit, attributed to the employees who make the location stand out. Multiple reviews praise staff as kind, helpful, extremely patient, professional, knowledgeable, and having a great attitude. They are noted for listening to customers and never being too busy to offer assistance, which makes the shopping experience enjoyable. However, experiences can vary. Some customers report issues with rented equipment, including communication and billing problems, though management may eventually resolve them. A common and expected challenge is that supplies are obviously limited compared to mainland stores due to the island location. The more critical feedback points to occasional encounters with uneducated or helpless employees, such as in the lumber department, where service can be inconsistent or knowledge lacking. The store also offers a kids' DIY workshop on the first Saturday of the month, which is loved, though some customers wish for the return of in-house DIY projects.
Nice nursery, lots of help and generally have what I need.

Home Depot is Home Depot... But they did sell a lawn mower for which they do not have replacement blades! Home Depot is Home Depot.

Love the kids diy every first Saturday of the month. They have diys online, I wish theyd bring back in-house ones. I know they would need enough people to sign up but I think it would be fun.
