Rick was super easy to work with and provided great tips for a day of sightseeing. It was perfect for our cruise rental, the office was just around the corner from the port. Handled a lot of the paperwork via email before we arrived and the deposit was refunded quickly. Great experience!

Rick at Hilo Rental Cars made our experience renting a car so smooth and easy and answered all of our questions in advance. The company is just a ten minute walk from the cruise ship port. Much easier than picking a car up at the airport. We rented to visit Volcanoes National Park for the day and it was perfect. Much more cost effective than taking a tour, and we had the opportunity to hike and stop at overlooks on our own schedule. Thank you, Rick!

Used for day rental on a cruise ship port stop. About a 10-15 minute (max) walk from the cruise ship dock to the rental lot for pickup. Before we stepped off the ship, received a text with directions and screenshot of map for the walk from the owner. Arrived at the lot, our name was listed on the board, and we spent about 5-10 minutes finalizing paperwork in the office. As we left, we were given a print out of some recommendations of local sights to see within easy driving distance. We asked a few questions on other attractions and Rick gave us answers and suggestions. Van for 6 was very comfortable/roomy and easy to drive. Reliable and safe vehicle. Upon return to the lot, we were driven back to the pier and dropped off. Price was the highest rental compared to other island/ports...but comparable to area in Hilo. Was also the only location that I had to leave a deposit, but that was quickly and fully refunded. I would use them again for sure.

When we rented a car with boss Rick and returned it, we almost missed the cruise. The kind boss drove us in and let us board the cruise safely. His service was very good and highly recommended. We also paid a deposit of 150 and even refunded it to us. The car need to drive more than 10 minutes inorder to get cool air-conditioned, everything wolk fine.

Easy access from cruise ship, car was ready when we arrived. Car was clean and ran well. Efficient pickup and drop off. Would rent from them again.

Car was serviceable. Schedule for pick up and drop off were not. (e.g. Turn it in at 3 pm??). Wanted to support a local business but would not recommend.

Not a fancy place or car but no worries. Service was great and Rick was extremely nice. I would use them again in a heartbeat. If you don’t want the headache and worry of having to get a ride/taxi to the airport to pickup and drop off, this place is A THREE MINUTE WALK GROM THE PIER! Maximize your time having fun instead.

We called once we got to the island, spoke to a very nice gentleman, and handled the entire reservation via text and email. He was fast and the rate was $125 all in for one day. The lot is very close to where cruise ships are. My family with 2 young boys walked it in 15min. The lady at the office even drove us back to the ship when we dropped he car off! We loved this island and the service at this place was a great start to our day!

We came in on a cruise ship for an overnight stay. I contacted Rick and was able to reserve a car with very little effort. It was VERY easy to walk to their shop from the ship, and we were able to park the car in their lot overnight, simplifying the whole thing. Rick gave good advice on what to do, and was really chill. I’d rent from these guys again in a second. They also have another location in Kona. Driving around was super-easy and really cool!

Absolutely great way to see the Big Island without the cost and aggravation of a big tour bus. The business is right outside of port entrance. Car was ready to go at great price. Nick, the owner, is professional and very easy going. Great experience! Added pic because a little hard to identify without the big 595.

A wonderful experience!
My friends and I rented a car for our week long stay on the Big Island and had a smooth experience. Airport pickup and drop off were done with no problems at Hilo Airport, Rick was so kind and gave us recommendations for our time in Hilo. The car was in good shape and got great mileage, it wasn't new, but we weren't expecting and didn't want anything fancy. It was the perfect vehicle and an awesome price for our adventures all over the island.
