When I first went there it was $50 a night, now overpriced
Walkability: Some great restaurants near by, but that was before covid

The walls are so thin. I could hear my neighbors phone call crystal clear and she wasn’t even talking loudly. What made this even more frustrating was that the hotel was at less than 50% occupancy and it would be have been a better experience if they just spaced the occupants out across the different rooms.Besides that, they have the best wifi out of any other hotel I stayed at on the Big Island and the rooms were cozy. Also the location is convenient. If you’re staying here, it’s likely that you didn’t have many other options for lodging.

I'm writing this review a little late! We stayed here 1.5 years ago and also 12 years ago. We absolutely love this little hotel. Clean, quiet, easy to access room info upon arriving. It's nothing fancy, but it's comfortable, clean, and safe.We love Hawi, so it's an easy decision to stay here when we return to the Big Island. I lived in Hawi as a child and I love returning to visit. I pray Kohala Village Inn never closes its doors because we need places like this to stay (I don't believe there's another hotel or motel up north and I don't generally like staying at AirBnBs anymore). So, please never close! :)

Being part of significant Hawaiian cultural events I feel is vital in keeping Hawaii the place many come for a variety of reasons. For us who live here and dedicate so much of our time, energy, money, and life in keeping Hawaii's Traditional Practices alive and present its nice to have places that open up their services and allow us to respectfully carry on with our business and Still have fun it was a plus that the Hub is also Family friendly.Mahalo for a wonderful time and being part of our accomplished journey.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. We spent the first night of our trip here and we were very pleased with the experience. The rooms are small, but clean. The grounds are well maintained, with a lovely little courtyard. It is close to several restaurants and right across the street from where we left for a zipline tour.We enjoyed the simplicity of check in, since they just send you your room code and therefore don't have to be there at a specific time to catch someone to give you a key.We were lucky to stay here the night of a local market that takes place right next door to the hotel. Our first night was spent eating at food trucks and chatting with a friendly local who gave us some great suggestions for our trip.

Beautiful little inn, very lowkey but surprising amount of modern amenities for something so old. Walking distance to the rest of the shops and restaurants in town, and next to some breathtaking

Awesome local place to stay! Rooms are cute and comfortable, there’s tables outside in a courtyard and you’re right around the corner from a coffee shop, stores and a few restaurants. There’s a microwave and water in the lobby and fridge in your room. The front desk was very kind and had an iron and ironing board available for me to use. If staff aren’t present, just give them a call. They’re here in the day but it’s just you and other guests at night. Checking in and out is easy, just use the code they provide in the email and you have access to your room. Check out you just leave by 10 or 11am. I don’t have cable at home, so it was nice to watch tv in comfy bed after a fun filled day, loads of channels. Only thing I’d recommend is they have lamps with power outlets or charging ports. We had to move the plug for the fridge and charge one phone at a time. Not a huge deal at all, just a thought.

Great stay with easy self check-in. The walls were a little thin, but a very pleasant stay otherwise.

No reception bare minimum room for the price expected a little more. Last day when tried to get back in room after going for coffee combination lock wouldn't open door so luckily I left window open so took screen off and climbed through window as know one around to help. All in all bad experience.

We paid $211/night total for Sun-Tue in January with queen bed. Rooms very comfortable, clean and well-maintained for an older place. Strange pillows seemed to want to inflate themselves, but not a big issue. Large grounds included event space. Outdoor picnic tables in a quiet courtyard setting. Contactless check-in/out worked fine. Quiet, near main drag in Hawi. Great bird noises at night.Location is excellent (I.e., short drive) for whale watching on NW coast of big island (Kapa’a Beach Park especially). Also close to Pololū gorge for a great hike. Dinner options somewhat limited based on hours and days open, but it’s a tiny town. Breakfast and lunch more available. Great coffee shop in town (Kohala Coffee Mill).I’d go there again.

We walked around looking for the entrance. We called and someone answered letting us know the restaurant had a fire in 2019 and has not reopened.
