They are well known in Hanalei, having been there for 30 years. \n\nThey are easy to find in an area with little shops to your right if you are coming to town from the south. \n\nMy guy and I both opted for the Tropical Bliss, which is made with organic syrup. I could have used another pump of syrup, but it was still tasty and delicious. And no matter where you get a shave ice, it is not complete without scoop of macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom. It simply makes an already delicious treat even better!

Holey Grail Donuts
5-5100 Kuhio Hwy, HanaleiIt says this location is permanently closed here, but I went and had them a few days ago, so I'm not sure that's right. My husband and I got a box of four to try different flavors: chocolate, sugar cinnamon, hot single, and lilikoi. They had tables to sit at and a really fun laid back vibe. It is a counter service, and the girl working was super kind and gave us recommendations for things to do during our trip. The donuts here are made fresh to order, so they came out hot. They are taro based and were a little thick for me, but my husband and I both still enjoyed them. I especially loved the frosting on the lilikoi. Absolutely delicious! Overall, great place to try!!
