Had a great time kayaking the Wailua River! Jonathan was great in getting us set up with the kayak, and was even nice enough to bring the kayak to the river for us. What a great way to experience some of the wilderness of Kaua'i!

Worst customer service ever. On a very rainy day, our teens came back before us to use the restroom and eat a sandwich before completing the journey, and they weren't allowed to come back out. They couldnt eat on the kayak as the rain was coming down so hard. When we offered them our kayaks to do the pretty part of the journey, they said it was allowed, but we would have to kayak to the beach (long walk, half hour kayak away) and the boys couldn't get on at the dock. Absolutely ridiculous.. it would have cost them nothing to let the boys come back out. We still had 4 hours of time on the kayaks. The manager was very rude and said I was mad because I didn't get my way, but also acknowledged their terrible customer service. I have never left a bad review, but this was horrible... It may be a local business, but it is run by people who dislike tourists and don't care about whether you have a good experience.

Beautiful scenery kayaking down the river to the ocean. Amazing snorkeling after you get to the beach - large area of coral reefs with many fish and many types of fish. The Kayak Hanalei staff and tour guides were great. Come a little early for your tour and have a coffee and açaí bowl at the next door Wishing Well Coffee place.

The guys down at the ramp were super friendly and helpful. We walked up like a bunch of noobs and they kindly directed us to the office to purchase our rentals. We came back like some excited golden retrievers and they kindly guided us on how to choose life vests and paddles.
The ride up the river away (from the beach) was beautiful. We had a 9yr old and 5yr old with us and they enjoyed it as much as we did. The total trip was about 2hrs and had no complaints from the kiddos.

Our tour guides were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Nice allocation of time between snorkeling and kayaking. The lunch they provided was better than I expected.

Even if you're on the South Shore, you need to make your way to Kayak Hanalei.
Make sure to sign up for the Kayak & Snorkel tour; perfect time spent kayaking, snorkeling, and chilling on the beach.
Our guides: Gabe and La`a were very knowledgeable and professional.
FYI: there are some amazingly breathtaking photo opportunities!!!

I would go to this place only if you like to kayak. The views down the river weren't spectacular in comparison to what you can see in Kauai.
Kayaking to the beach however was a pretty unique experience and was cool to see the bay from a different perspective. If I were to do it again I would go to the beach straight away with a picnic packed up for a secluded shore.

Worth every penny. If you dont have a lot of time on Kauai, this tour is awesome and has a bit of everything. We have only kayaked once ever before, so we are really inexperienced. You will get wet so go in swim clothing, water shoes and lots of sunblock. We started off kayaking on the river where you will get amazing views of the river bank, and eventually out into the shallow sea near the Hanalei bay. The tour guides were funny, energetic and knowledgeable (Ko'Le and Gabe), and shared many of the local history and nearby mountains. We snorkeled briefly after landing near a beach near the 1 hotel, and saw many colorful fish, had lunch they prepared and kayaked back. The whole tour took about 4 hours but you felt like you have been there for a while. An awesome way to spend an afternoon in Hanalei. There's lotta food and stores in the town of Hanalei, and coffee spot right next door. It was our first time on the island, and this happened on the 2nd day of our trip, couldnt have done it any better. What a gorgeous and incredibly safe tropical jungle
