I’ve had two experiences with CalMed recently - one was just an online order for in-store pickup and the other was for the rental of a Medela Symphony pump. The in-store pickup was very easy and quick, the person who helped me was very friendly and pleasant (I didn’t catch her name since it was just a quick interaction). For my pump rental, Emma was the best! My LC submitted the paperwork to CalMed for me to obtain a hospital pump due to my baby’s tongue tie but informed me that sometimes HMSA will take up to 2 weeks to approve the request. I didn’t want to wait 2 weeks and I knew that due to my insurance coverage, the pump still may not be covered, so I was willing to pay retail for the time being. I called CalMed and Emma, understanding my situation called HMSA to verify coverage and got back to me immediately. Turns out my insurance coverage was poor for breast pumps so she advised I go the retail route since would end up being cheaper and faster. She checked on my coverage with HMSA, processed all my paperwork and had the pump ready for pickup within less than 2 hours! When I went to pickup the pump, she was just as friendly and helpful as she had been over the phone. She even offered to bring it curbside for pickup and went over all the important things I needed to know for setting up and using the pump. Dealing with feeding issues is very frustrating for moms and I appreciate that she was so helpful and friendly! Thank you Emma for all of your help!

My experience with CalMed Hawaii definitely exceeded my expectations. I love that I can immediately talk to someone live when I call the location and the service provided was excellent. Also, the website is very user friendly and easy to use. Received my order next day, Super fast delivery. I look forward to working with them again soon. thanks CalMed

Received my free breast pump from CalMed Hawaii! Great customer service. The lady on the phone was super helpful and friendly. They do free delivery based on where you live which was super convenient but if you need to pick it up from their store, they are located near the airport. CalMed Hawaii also has free virtual breast feeding classes which I plan to attend since I'm a first time mama!

I have a preemie and was desperate for parts for my medela symphony FAST. They were so amazing and helped me get the parts I needed in less than 15 minutes. I so appreciate the support in such a stressful time.

I spoke to a person named Emmaline there gave me terrible customer service from the start of even calling. Wasn’t advised that you have to purchase parts separately to even operate the breast pump. When I called about my concerns she was rude, disrespectful, bad attitude and refused to listen to what my issue was. Being medical assistant that is completely unprofessional and not call for. The fact that I have to call this place numerous times to get assistance is outrageous. Don’t bother calling their after hours line because they call you back when they feel like it. Do not rent a breast pump from this company

I spoke to a "supervisor" named Emmaline at this location. I had a prescription to rent a breast pump. No one advised to me that you need to pay for the tubing adapters with the membrane caps in order to use the hospital grade breast pump. They even didn't have enough drivers to delivery the pump to me. Being an understanding person I went to pick up the breast pump just to not have the tubing to operate the pump. I figured it could of been easily resolve, but no Emmaline got very disrespectful with me wouldn't even listen to what my issue was. Before that, instead of double checking her sources to make sure she got my paperwork before giving me the breast pump, she left me a snappy voicemail about not receiving it , instead checking first before having me drive to pick it up. Also she kept saying I have to buy a pumping kit when I shouldn't have to buy the pumping kit to have the tubing to have the suction work. I never heard of that in my life. If I did have to buy a pumping kit to do that, why wasn't I advised of that when I called inquiring about renting the breast pump. Honestly if you are a new mom or any moms do not rent from this company. The service sounds cool but you will deal with people who can not act professionally and talk to you like you owe them something. Its already a lot having a baby, save yourself the trouble and rent from Janz if you need to rent a breast pump. You have to pick it up but at least they will Show you respect and be professional with the process

I have been working with Calmed for about 15 years or so. Each and every time, Calmed has been a huge help for all DMEs and supplies. They really try their best to meet my needs, even delivering supplies on the same day when needed, if possible. The owners are from Hawaii and I am a huge fan of supporting local businesses. Calmed staff are full of aloha and compassion for patients and caregivers. When I need medical supplies, Calmed is my go-to company. Price point is excellent! Excellent servicing is an understatement. Support local!

Awful. I paid for upgrade charge for the better Brest pump and that was broken.Instead, I received the worst/cheap breast pump and no refund was issued. Even thought the product that I purchased is out of stock and I can not get a replacement for the product I paid for, they do not issue a refund.

They do not update their options with referring on offices, so I picked from a very outdated list. They called asked what I like instead but never tell me about the options or where I can look online, so I just said anything with an insulated backpack. They sent me the cheapest/lowest rated available pump with no backpack just an uninsulated reusable shopping bag. They didn’t respond to two emails about it, despite the 24 hr responses promised online. And when I was a little distressed about the fact that the package I didn’t order came with a “THIS ITEM IS NON-RETURNABLE & NON- EXCHANGEABLE” paper right on top they got personally offended said I was the problem and that they would accept the return and never help me again. Which is not emotional support advertised online either, they never sent a return label either & I filled out the online forum asking what’s next they never responded.

All pregnant women should know about this place. Emma and Andrea were so helpful and genuinely nice both on the phone and in person. In addition to pumps, they have quality maternity belts which you can buy for retail price if not covered or reimbursed by your insurance. Tell me why it is so hard to buy one on island? Not many options at target and whenever you Yelp or google maternity, it's just a bunch of maternity photographers. I needed a belt fast because my online purchase from motherhood maternity which initially was supposed to be shipped in 5 days, instead is taking 30 days. And to be honest, I'm tired of being from Amazon when I'd rather support local. When I called, Andrea answered all my questions about pumps and belts, and when I got there Emma was so polite. She let me try on 3 different belts and encouraged me to fit them on in the restroom in case I needed privacy. Using my HMSA HMO, Initially Andrea thought I'd have to pay retail price because I still had a substatial deductible, but Emma says I can likely request a reimbursement from HMSA, which I'll try. Even if don't get reimbursed I'm pretty happy, because paying $40 is better than 5 more months of chronic baby bump back pain. Emma also told me that a lot of women, including those with quest can get a maternity belt covered so long as their doc fills out the CalMed form and faxes it over. She will drop off the belt (and pump if you got one) to your house! Wait that's not all... this place has lactation support that they hold via zoom! So if women are having difficulty postpartum they can sign up! Wow, wish that more women knew about this gem of a place. I will definitely spread the word.
