A great experience from a family in their 7th house / the short version - I highly recommend DS Murphy for appraisals, inspections, or any urgent issue that needs resolved quickly and professionally / they went above and beyond for someone they had never spoken to prior / PLEASE READ THE DETAILED TIMELINE BELOW / we had a contract in place to sell our home / the buyer's lender hired a third party appraiser who made mistakes and understated the square footage by 300 - 400 square feet making the appraised value less than the contract price / buyers were nervous (fair reaction) and wanted to re-negotiate or terminate the contract / the appraiser would not re-look - check - or adjust his square footage even after we sent them the original appraisal we had completed for us when we bought the house / we quickly searched the area for an appraiser to come out and confirm the correct square footage / DS Murphy was the only company who understood the urgency and quickly engaged on a Friday with our contract needing to be resolved by Saturday night / they quickly reached out to their extended team to find someone who could help us quickly / within the hour Scott Murphy called us to tell us he had time at 1:00 same day to calculate the square footage for us / we had an E-Mail with detailed sketch and measurements within two hours of his inspection which we forwarded to the lender / Scott also reached back out to me to make sure the buyers were following the legal contract rules and not unfairly negotiating with us / we were able to obtain a square footage sketch late Friday evening from the lender and forwarded it to Scott / he responded Saturday morning - he outlined the differences / mistakes made by the appraiser which we forwarded back to the lender with a cover letter from Scott offering to speak to the lender, realtor, and the third party appraisal firm / due to the credibility of Scott and the DS Murphy firm - the lender and buyers agreed to honor the original contract price and closing date / to be safe and support the buyers - we asked Scott to do a full appraisal for us - the completed appraisal was sent back to me Tuesday morning / the lender's appraiser came back out to the house on Wednesday - then increased his appraised value calculation for the lender / in summary - DS Murphy was very credible - professional - with above and beyond effort for a family they did not know and had not met prior to this interaction / we highly recommend DS Murphy Services

Coley from DS Murphy recently did a fantastic job completing two appraisals for us on properties we were interested in. The appraisals were done in a timely, efficient manner. Coley went above and beyond on communication, conducting the appraisals in a professional manner and completed the reports in the time he committed. Horrible horrible horrible. Appraised our home way too low based off of homes that aren't even comps. I was quoted 7-10 business days and it took 12 with a horrible lack of communication as to why it was delayed. Important information was left off the appraisal about our property that would help the value - completely ignored. And these are big things like a 3rd garage and second kitchen. One of the comps to our remodeled home was a "fixer upper". Another comp was in a different county! Beware of this company - hire someone that knows what they are doing.

Mark Durden with D.S. Murphy has done so many pre-listing appraisals as well as appraisals for cash buyers for me for more than 15 years. He has always done an outstanding job. The company as a whole is a great company and I’m always happy to hear when someone from D.S. Murphy is going to be doing the appraisal whether I represent the buyer or seller. They will always send someone that knows that particular area not just someone to get the job done and that is so important when appraising a property.

Coley is an excellent and responsive appraiser. I keep my fingers crossed he is available when I call for an independent appraisal. He is definitely my favorite, but all DS Murphy appraisers are superb, or they wouldn't work there. All my cash deals are handled by Scott Murphy's Appraisers. Also, Leslea in customer service was a pleasure to work with on the transaction.
