I’m very pleased with the Grandparents breakfast this morning. The staff greeted each of the children by name. The infant room staff made me welcome and I noticed how much love and patience is given to each baby. Each staff person I met was professional and very friendly. The director was supportive and dedicated to making the grandparents welcome with her courtesy to everyone that entered. The breakfast was hot and delicious. I really enjoyed being there.

Expectations broken!!!My daughter never been school before. This was her first time. No camara in classroom. A lot of high standards for pre-k. Was called daily to get my daughter for crying and spitting on floor while crying. Daughter was left in restroom upon calling me to pick her up hysterical crying while sitting on toilet it like the teacher didn’t give a dam. Who leaves a 4 year old crying on toilet? The teachers aren’t qualified for emotional support. Just had her sitting on toilet til I came. That was very heartbreaking for me and at that point I was done. I asked them doing orientation, are they able to deal with kids never been school. The response, “yes we see it all time” well. She only made it one full day and I was expecting to get feedback instead the Spanish teacher, say she did okay. Some morning her energy was not towards me no greeting or eye contact.I ask can you tell me what I need to work on. She then say oh she did this she did that. Nothing positive. I had high hopes for this center. My daughter use to cry before arrival daily saying she didn’t like it. She has speech delay. This center gave me one option to refer her to a school for special needs kids. What a slap in face. Instead helping with solutions to help with separation anxiety, my daughter was just on a hanger and labeled. Her very last day didn’t help because she seen a big roach. So that had me puzzled as well to the cleaning of the center, since the requirements are so high. Parents do your research. What seems well might not be as well. It seems they are just hiring zombies. My daughter is happy at her new pre-k center. No issues, no crying, no issues to what was “so called documented at Scottdale center. The funding for Scottdale center needs to go to properly training staff. Not to mention I was on waiting list for 3 years. Pre-k lottery she wasn’t picked I was on waiting list and a spot became available. The red flags was there. I just ignored them. My daughter is in speech therapy and is thriving. Her 5 sentence words where slurred. It makes me smile to realize my daughter feeling where met by her parents and supporting outside facilities. The love and support is there. Do your research. If it don’t feel right it not right.

The teachers communicate openly and effectively about your child's progress. I like how Ms. Morgan is helpful and friendly upon arrival each day. I really like this about the school! I can only mention one thing that I do not like about the school. I did not like how they replace one upfront friendly and helpful staff member Ms. June for another staff member that doesn't seem like she wants to be in an environment with children. She seats upfront and she doesn't speak to you when you ask her questions. She bluntly ignores you. I often see her more attentive to her phone than what is going on in the center. She is however a cold new staff member. This replacement was a horrible match for this position.

My son started at Scottdale Early Learning Center September 15, 2021. I picked him up around 3pm that afternoon. Immediately when we approached him he said “mom, the teacher is mean, she yells at us and she hit a girl” I told him we would further discuss in the car. When we got home my son started to tell the story of his day and basically he said “one of his classmates got spanked on her bottom by the teacher (Ms. Marilyn 3yr old preschool class) because she tried to leave the class w/o permission” he also made it clear that she cried really bad. The next day September 16, 2021 I let the director and Ms. Morgan know! We all sat in the directors office as I explained the story to them and showed them the recorded video that I had taken of my son explaining the incident. I also submitted an incident report (pictured). They assured me that they would investigate and my son won’t be mistreated or treated differently. Most importantly they assured me that this would be confidential. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The next day September 17, 2021 when we entered the facility no one spoke to my son and me (they usually would), except the cafeteria employee (she’s always spoke and been the same). This also continued that afternoon when I picked my son up, they all were hush and acted as if I didn’t exists. I knew at this point that they knew I was the “whistle blower”. To add insult to injury on September 21, 2021 when I approached my son on the playground to pick him up he said “mom the mean teacher spanked my hand and knocked the toy out of my hand” this was the last straw for me. I also have him explaining this incident on video. I didn’t even bother reporting this incident to the facility because the previous incident was not handled properly. I didn’t send my son back to that place after September 21, 2021. However, I called and spoke to Ms. Morgan several times since asking the findings of the initial incident (September 16, 2021) and was told that it was internally handled and she can’t release that info, but referred me to HR. I’ve contacted HR and have yet to receive a return call/email. This is discouraging and terrible. We trust you all with our children and this happens? Why? Why not follow up and ensure the parent that this was properly handled? I believe they weren’t expecting my son to speak so well and be so vocal and able to iterate as well as he does, but he did and they failed us! I wish I could give “0” stars.

I was notified that a spot came available for my daughter. I inquired about the Religious Exemption for vaccines. I was told that the center does not accept the State of Georgia vaccine religious exemption form. I explained that my daughter had all of her vaccines except the MMR and asked if we could be allowed to catch up. I requested to speak to Dr. Mason on the issue. I never received a return call. I stopped by the school to get an answer to my question, but they were closed due to staff development. The next week, I stopped by again to leave a message for Dr. Mason. Still no answer. I called again and still no answer. I emailed her and received a very rude response. I tried to contact upper management because I know that Scottdale has to accept the religious exemption as long as they are receiving Federal funding. No resolve. A few days afterwards I placed the call to upper management, I was contacted by the DeKalb County Police Department with a complaint that I had been making people feel uncomfortable at the center and driving by it. DID YOU HEAR ME??? THEY CALLED THE POLICE ON ME AND FALSELY ACCUSED ME. I was at work and had been there all morning. In all my dealings with the center I was never rude or disrespectful. In fact, I didn't speak to many people at the center because no one would answer my questions. The officer told me I was not allowed on the property and that my child no longer had a spot and would not be included on the waitlist. I am still speechless at the lies told on me to the officer. If the center didn't want my child there, they could have said so from the beginning. Scottdale purposely tells potential families that they do not accept the religious exemption form when they are required to do so. The unprofessionalism and dishonesty is unacceptable and concerning. Avoid this center. With the change in leadership, it is not what it seems.

The teachers that are hired to teach your child come up with a list of excuses to prevent education within the classroom. You will often see that most of the teachers lack professionalism and often times seem like they just rolled out of the bed unprepared. The upper staff cover up for their teachers by saying "they need more training". When the teachers lack the simplest common sense. Scottdale Early Learning hire teachers who went to school for this profession. The teachers are clueless about their own role in part of your childs education. You would think the teachers know what they sign up for from the beginning. The teachers are not excited about teaching your child at all. Often times the teachers blame the students and look for reasons to prevent the child from learning within the school. Instead of covering up for lazy unprofessional staff members. I highly recommend the school hire staff members who have better experience that is equipped to teach each appropriate classroom level. The school have so much potential but since staff members get away with too much the school is lacking proper education.

Beyond Happy I decided to send my 8month old here. She has always been full of energy and this is the perfect place for her. Excellent staff and teachers everyone always greets us every morning. Soon as we pull up she starts smiling and gets excited. I'm so thankful to Mrs. June for guiding me through the whole process, answering any questions I have and getting Wisdom enrolled. YES TO SCOTTSDALE

Scottdale has been a blessing to me and my family. I have been in the Scottdale family for going on 8 years now and I couldn’t be any happier with my decision. Having two children (one that still attends). They are more like family. They are ALWAYS there when I need them even if it’s not related to my children . Mrs. Gibson the CEO is always available to talk to you . Her Door stays open at all times (unless she is is a meeting or something lol ) she knows her parents and students very well . Mrs. Mason always has a wonderful spirit when you see her, Mrs. T is wonderful with communication and being a breath of fresh air at the front desk . Jazz is always so professional and quick to answer questions and if she does not know the answer to find out the answer . The Teachers are PHENOMENAL and I mean that . Every teacher speaks even if your child is not in their class, and the food that Ms. Jones cooks is always so good. (I have tasted my self?) . The building is always clean thanks to Mr. Dexter.. Thank you Scottdale For your service in the community.

Scottdale seems great, and I'm sure it's great for the kids who can get in there. I am reviewing solely because my experience with their communication (as a parent trying to see if they have a spot for my child) has been AWFUL. Calls and emails go unreturned, promises of contact are made and broken. This was my experience this past fall and this spring (this spring after seeing a post on their Facebook page saying they were enrolling for the fall--so not like I was inquiring out of the blue or something). I am so incredibly disappointed, but at this point the communication is a complete deal breaker for us even if we did hear back from them now. I hope parents of enrolled students are treated better.

I'm so grateful that I found Scottdale Early Learning for my infant to attend daycare! The teachers and staff are kind, attentive, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The facility is spacious, clean and beautiful. I feel at ease knowing my son is in good hands day to day and I look to the school's staff as a resource for me as a first time parent. I can't say enough positive things about this school!

I went into the main buildings to see if I could get help with my nephew and I immediately had to leave because of the attitude that was given to me by the lady anita douglas she’s sarcastic, rude and just an overall bitter person when I asked to get a brochure she looked at me and said “we don’t have one” she acted like I was a burden I see all the good reviews here and it might be a good place but aanita douglas is definitely not the person to talk to here.

Such an awesome school. The teachers and staff are all amazing. We transferred here from another pre-K and I could not be happier. Your child will definitely be prepared for kindergarten.
