I trusted RDS for four years and recommended them to 4 different current customers. No more. I was always willing to forgive certain things because I felt like they were a good old school locally owned mechanic. Now I am certain that the business under Matt is moving into a criminal enterprise. I had my car towed to this shop and it took a week of me calling repeatedly to learn that they hadn’t even begun to work on my car. Finally, I found out that the car wasn’t starting. I had towed the car because my 2006 Honda accord’s key case had broken and I had a check engine light. So yes, it was established the ignition was not working. So in total they had done no work on my car (not even diagnostics).
I am so disgusted that they went so far as to lie in the notes from my car and claim that it was throwing a code for the ignition’s immobilizer not working and that I had previously failed admissions. This was not true at all. They then quoted me $650 for a new key to be made. I am immediately called Stonecrest Honda and they were able to get me a new key within the hour for $130. When I asked Rds about this discrepancy and price they had nothing to say other than we like to overcharge before we do any work so that you weren’t surprised with the estimate. $500 discrepancy is more than overcharging for an estimate. They were called on their own scam and it’s clear that they weren’t going to be accountable to that. I told him that I’d be there within an hour to have my car towed and they put my car out on the street with no warning. All this is to say I will never ever ever recommend or patronize this establishment again.
Update: The general manager’s response below is beyond reprehensible. They had my car for a week and didn’t even do diagnostics, what would you charge me for? I will be reporting this business to the BBB.

I have taken my 2007 Honda Accord to RDS for several years. Tom, Buddy and Matt are very knowledgeable and treat their customers with respect. Their prices are very fair and they complete the repairs in a timely manner.

After 4 business days with my Subaru in this shop, they charged me $770 for fixing the a/c. One day later, it was out again. I took it back and waited 2 hours while they attempted , but failed, to find the problem. They suggested I bring it back the following day and they would "call someone who knows more about Subarus". Instead, I took it to Stivers, who had it fixed in four hours and charged me $872. I returned to RDS and asked for only a partial refund, since they had replaced a part, though not one which solved the problem. They refused, on the "grounds" that I was told I needed to bring it back the next day for yet another diagnostic exam. I brought the owner, Tom Dubbert, a detailed letter with all the information, again asking politely for a partial refund. No response. This is a terrible way to show you care about customer service, which is what they proclaim on their own publicity.
In response to Ms. Reynolds' response below: it is inaccurate.
RDS had already replaced the three-way switch during the four days they had the car. When I brought it back due to no a/c the next day, their "master technician" spent almost two hours trying to diagnose the problem while I waited. He told me he didn't know what was wrong and would consult outside RDS with someone who knew more about Subarus. After 4 days, a failed repair, and a further diagnosis without resolution, I had every right to go to the dealership to get it resolved rather than wait for yet another diagnostic. I do not dispute the replacement of the three-way switch, and didn't ask for a full refund for that reason. I asked only for a partial refund since the switch replacement did not fix the a/c. $770 for a failed repair is too much.

You know how everyone wants a mechanic or shop they can trust to give honest, straightforward advice and service without burying you in debt and creating more problems? RDS Auto is that shop. I have a 2006 Subaru Forrester with over 200,000 miles on it, but it’s in really good shape now, thanks to RDS Auto, specifically Matt, Julia, and Tom. They all helped me out immensely with my repair, gave me a fair price, and, even took the extra time to find me a quality used part that I needed, instead of charging me for a brand new one. They were accommodating, thoughtful, easy to talk to, and professional. I’m more than happy with the results. I’m back on the road again, and since I work out of my car and travel all day every day, to and from various client locations, having a working vehicle is the core of my livelihood. These guys really helped me out, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for that “car shop you can trust.” Thanks again guys!

Its not often you associate the word trust with auto shop, but in this case RDS is the only place that should service your vehicle. I have been twice now and both times they have treated me with absolute respect, kindness, and genuine care. I usually get taken advantage of at auto shops, lied to, or scammed. RDS treats you like family. They are not going to lie about things that don't need to be fixed. They work with you on the price and go out of their way to communicate progress of your vehicle. If they don't think a repair is cost effective they will tell you it's not worth hassle. They know the ins and out of the vehicle and the owner is very diligent in looking over each mechanics work for quality. RDS is a shop consisting of ethics, compassion, and precision.

My Wife and I recently took her car to RDS for repair. I had been there a few times over the years and I thought they were good people. For the record I am an ASE Certified Master Automotive Tech, ASE Certified Master H.D.Truck Tech, ASE Certified Master Body and Paint Tech, and an ASE Certified Master Machinist, so I know a little bit about how cars should be repaired and I have over 55 years of experience repairing cars, trucks and equipment. First we never authorized or was even told about replacing her rear wiper blade. Then we were told one of her tires was separated, when I wanted to see the tire, it was worn but NOT Separated. The tire that was not separated was the only part that I was allowed to see. After getting her car home I noticed that the sway bar link on the passenger side had not been lubricated and the new tie rod end on that side had not been lubricated either. The sway bar link on the drivers side had been lubed. Then I noticed that we were billed for three sway bar links and I could only see two new sway bar links. I looked and NAPA only listed two sway bar links. I looked in the Ford Shop Manual and it only listed two sway bar links, 3B438 for the right one and 3B439 for the left. RDS charged us nearly double for the parts that they supposedly used than what the NAPA List price is. Over the years I have referred many people to RDS but I can no longer do that. I do not plan to ever go there again.
