I am a combat veteran ( Bomb squad infantry medic ), middle school teacher and clergy.
Came today to pass inspection.
The car passed inspection, but the “inspector” actually STOLE a decoration from the back of my car that my students gave to me by cutting it when I was in the car and could not see.
NEVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN.

I’ve been using this place for years for emissions, and Lamont is always friendly and quick.Recently I have had an issue (non emission related) with one of my cars. This was the first time I’d used the mechanic part of the business. Ali was so helpful and kind and answered all my many questions and explained what was wrong and why it needed to be fixed. I would recommend them for either service.

So I pull in at 9:05AM on my way to work & he’s (old black man) moving cones. I asked if he’s open yet & his exact response was “that’s what I’m doing” & I was like “oh okay I’m sorry, wanted to make sure” & put my hands up in the ‘don’t shoot’ position. Then he said “all I did was tell you to come on in”. After I pull up, his exact words were “are you okay, do you have an attitude?”. I laughed a little & said “no I’m good”….Asking if I have an attitude when I haven’t displayed ANY signs of having one is quite triggering….what if I said “yes now please hurry up so I can get to work”?? ….THEN I was asked to get out of the car & I didn’t have to last time. I assume he was mad or my feet stink but he told me to get out this time…It’s all good either way cause I passed but I needed to say my peace AFTER I passed. It sucks ‘cause he was super nice the first time I went but Now I know to go somewhere else (cheaper) next time. Why’d I give 4 stars? Because, even though he was rude, he’s a black man (who probably needs therapy) and I’m not into bringing my people down.

The guy who did my emission test must hate his job. He was incredibly rude. I'm hard of hearing, but the guy acted like I was stupid because I couldn't hear him mumbling to me. Insulted me because I didn't hear him tell me to push the door open to the shop. Loudly complained that another person pulled in behind me for an emission test, wondering aloud if they were the only place open for emissions. If you don't want our business, maybe don't undercut the competition by $5? The business owners should know they are losing money because of this employee.

I have bought three used Toyota cars from Ali at A-R-E over the years, and I've always come away with a great vehicle. They can tell you in what condition a car came to them (with pictures), so you know exactly what you are getting.The owner Ali scouts the area for Toyota models (only) that have been in accidents that he can rebuild to perfection, then he does just that. I just had an accident with a 2009 Pontiac Vibe (Corolla except for the Pontiac body), which I absolutely loved and was in Perfect condition, and just yesterday I purchased a 2004 Camry for him.Between Ali and the carfax report, I have a really good idea that this car has been taken care of, had regular oil changes, and exactly what was wrong with the car (body damage on a door and valve cover gasket replacement needed). I would Never buy a car this old elsewhere, but knowing all that I know about this one w/ relatively low mileage, care by two previous owners, and damage that was fixed, I'm sleeping well. They are honest in every respect, said from 10 yrs experience with them, and I appreciated being told that the rear shocks would need to be replaced down the line, and the timing chain and water pump replaced after I drive this "new" Camry 170,000 miles.With this Camry, they do all the paperwork and call when you need to come get your tag. Also the first place I go if I need a repair. I sure with I'd called them before the insurance company after this last accident, because there's a decent chance I could have had my Vibe repaired. I foolishly reported that the place Progressive told me to take the car to for repair reported a probable total loss, huge mistake on my part that I wouldn't have made if I'd gone to A-R-E first arrrrrgh.Bottom line for me ... I love Toyota cars and vans and this is the only place I trust for a low cost used Toyota.
