We were in Savannah earlier this week as our neighborhood in Florida was evacuated. Our dog Maddie developed GI issues and Berwick Animal Hospital took us right in. The vet and entire staff were so attentive and caring and prescribed the right meds for our Maddie. She is on the mend and we are so grateful to Berwick Animal Hospital for coming to her rescue during a stressful time. The office building is beautiful and beverages were offered including water and tea. It was a wonderful experience ❤️

It's painful to write this but you earned a 1 star review. My rating as well as others are well founded. Considering using Berwick Animal Hospital? You better ALL the 1 star reviews. They earned it.
I should have picked up and left when the so-called doctor or vet-tech started talking. I should have listened to my gut. You know when people care right? They made me feel like I was there for an oil change.
We came to Berwick Animal Hospital after losing our pet to another vet who overdosed him and died in my arms at their hospital on a routine visit! I explained my concerns which I could tell rolled off the doctors lab jacket like water off a duck's back. This is a family member, not another cash register ring job!
Deeply upset at the lack of attention to detail. Reports sheet had to be corrected more than once. Lost faith, not because of the cost which was outrageous but the lack of care, or concern.
When waiting to pay the bill, a delivery from Outback Steakhouse brought in 6 oversized sacks for their lunch. I understood then and there they were more concerned about their food getting cold and why the doctor was in a rush.
I asked the lady who delivered how many times she delivered to Berwick Animal Hospital. She said all week long. I asked all the time? She said oh yeah! Now I know why my bill was so expensive. I didn't take me long to do the math. 370.00 lunch 5 days a week, 20 days a month ... I could smell the steak, and baked potato's
No mam! My family members mean more to me than that.
That was my first and last time.
Enjoy your lunch ladies. Try salads for a change. Not everyone can afford your prices or would be willing to trade a family member for your level of care.
Been there once too many times.
BTW, finding you with no frontage access was a pain. I saw another comment from a person regarding GPS. No kidding!
Getting out on the 17 is a death trap.

I needed a last minute appointment for my dog who was showing signs of an UTI and our current vet could not take her for a few days. I have friends who love Berwick so they were my first call after our vet. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was incredibly kind and helpful. She was able to get us an appointment the same day. My dog has always been scared of the vet but not once did she show any signs of being scared with the techs or veterinarian. Since her appointment I received a call checking in on her and appreciate so much how obviously they care. I would recommend Berwick to anyone.

Our dog was very sick, we called and even though we weren't patients they got us in within the hour. These are kind, compassionate people who spent extra time going over symptoms and solutions. Very grateful and highly recommend them!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say from the staff down to Dr Douglas herself. Everytime I'm here I know that my animal is being cared for to the fullest extent and I recommend this office to everyone.

7:58am 6/27/24 After reading Angus' records, this is what I have learned: 1. His blood glucose at his visit on 6/18/24 was 528. 2. They did not administer insulin at the time of diagnosis. 3. His 4 hour "day hospitalization" was coded as an "overnight hospitalization". 4. They did not administer insulin during his hospitalization. 5. Everything done on 6/18/24 was dated in his records as happening on 6/25/24 as well as on 6/18/24...leading a reader to believe there were 2 visits when he would have been dead for 5 days on 6/25/24. 6. They did refund us for the prescription diet, as well as the syringes for his insulin, that were now no longer needed. 7. I keep detailed notes of everything for both dogs' care in my phone. So when I say there were multiple blood panels done in the past 6 months, that's because that is what they told me they were doing. Yet no blood work shows up in his records between August of 2023 and 9 days ago. Not saying they altered records, but if they didn't...then they lied to me about what was being done at those visits. NEITHER of those is a good thing. 8. Normal blood glucose range for a dog is between 70 and 130. With Angus' being 528, protocol SHOULD have been: Administer insulin. Hospitalize an ACTUAL overnight stay for monitoring. Hydrate with IV fluids. Make sure he could tolerate food and water before discharging THE NEXT DAY. They hospitalized for 4 hours, gave IV fluids, and discharged WITHOUT making sure he could tolerate food and water. Essentially putting us back at square 1 when he got home. I'm not sure what more, if anything, the review their administrator is performing can reveal. I wish I could feel like some answer to what progressed his condition so rapidly was going to appear. But let's stick to the facts: Fact: They did not administer insulin to a patient with a glucose reading 398 points higher than the high end of normal. Neither at time of diagnosis NOR during his hospitalization. Fact: They did not make sure he could tolerate food and water before discharge...when he was brought in BECAUSE he could BARELY tolerate food or water. Fact: The records were made to look like there was a visit on 6/25/24 when for that to happen, they would have had to dig up his corpse from my back yard to have a patient on that date. He had been dead for 5 days at that point. I appreciate them putting the refund for the now unnecessary syringes toward our other dog's anti-anxiety med. That at least buys us a few months to find her a new vet. I hope you read both the original review and this update before deciding to take your pet here. The people may be genuine, but some of their practices leave A LOT to be desired. Angus might still be alive IF protocol had been followed as stated above.

Berwick is absolutely the best place I've taken my cats. They've been there for me through cat cancer, end of life care, cat arthritis, to kitten wellness. The entire staff are just really great. I know my pets are safe with them. My kitten is going to grow up with the best care, even if he hates medical collars! -The Kulinski family

Hands down the best place you can take your fur babies. I can't express enough how much they truly love my dog and take the time to really hear our concerns, explain all treatment options, and follow up well beyond even the highest expectations. We've been there over 2 years and I just left an appointment in tears of utter gratitude for their kindness and expertise. I won't ever be taking my pups anywhere else, we'll worth the drive if you have one.
