Be warned! If you used to love this deli and come all the time like I did, they have entirely changed everything to very few prepackaged sandwiches. They don't do made to order anymore, no more fresh produce, no bread options. Soups only served on weekends. Destroyed one of my favorite spots. If you loved the club, the grilled cheese or the panini of the day, or the sourdough, or just about everything else, don't even waste your time. Very sad.

The old Sautee store is a quaint little store that has great goods at reasonable prices. A historic general store with clothing, candy, cookware, and souvenirs. The service is always good and greetings with a smile. Take a look around the historic items at the front before you walk into the store. A view of a time gone by. Clean bathrooms as well.

I have been going to this store and deli for many years. My trips to Helen usually include several trips to the deli, and I really look forward to it each time. This year was a huge disappointment. Before, they had several choices of homemade bread, and the sandwiches were made upon request with lettuce, tomato, and their specialty cheese if you liked. You got a pickle slice, and they had a different soup option every day. This year, I got a prepackaged croissant (not my favorite but that’s all they had) with nothing but chicken salad on it, and it was very dry. No pickle or soup were offered.I understand that the store and deli have new owners. My hope is that they’ll bring the deli back to what it was before. Otherwise, the only thing I recommend you get is ice cream.

I have wanted to stop here to check itmout and it didn't disappoint . The deli next door is a great place to stop by for ice cream and a sandwich. The turkey roll was good and my wife got chicken salad on a croissant. They gave a good soda selection as well, so stop by and try it out if you are in the neighborhood.

Awesome store to stop in and have a taste of the ciders, cheese, ginger snaps and honey. Very delightful.Beware do not use soap (Hogwash on color clothing) it did remove stain as advised by store but also removed color, yikes Take your time and enjoy, staff is so friendly, reminded me of the South, before it became over run.

Lovely shop with many different aspects to it. You walk in to an ancient store front that has not been change since it was put in. You are met by a man who will explain everything about this store to you and it's history. Had some of the Farmers Cheese they sell and it was very good. There is a small deli attached to them and has some quick sandwiches to go along with a very tasty Black Cherry Soda. I had the chicken Salad on Croissant and it was very tasty. Wonderful atmosphere in the store. Great set up wonderful items to choose from. Even items for dogs that are specifically made for them.

Used to be the best sandwich place around. Now they only offer 3 pitiful sandwiches. Very sad event for the area.

What a great store! Love the area!! More off the beaten path. Clerks at store so accommodating. We purchased a book, they got the author to sign it and it made a awesome gift for our granddaughter!

I agree with BJ's post! We would come from Athens, GA to spend the day in the area. We loved their homemade sandwiches. We went there 2 weeks ago and saw their new menu and walked out. I didn't want a premade sandwich. New owners have made changes and sometimes those changes can be good this one however is not! We greatly miss this as our go-to place in the area for our sandwich stop. We would Love to have the previous Menu, and if not, we may have to try Shiela's next time we are up that way on the weekend!

Once a lunch spot staple in Sautee, the new pre-made deli menu at the Old Sautee Store Market is a major disappointment for area regulars and visitors. Read many of the below reviews and you'll see folks loved the former menu at this unique lunch spot--beware, it has completely changed. Formerly, patrons enjoyed farmer's cheese, quality Boar's Head meats on made-to-order, customized sandwiches on a variety of breads baked fresh daily, soups and creative grilled daily sandwich specials. All of that has been eliminated and now replaced with "stock" sandwiches pre-made every morning on white bread, wrapped in Saran Wrap, sitting all day and handed to customers without any customization options. The pre-made options are few--bologna, turkey, chicken salad and pimento cheese. Kids can "enjoy" packaged Uncrustable "sandwiches". The changes are shocking and we have heard from many that they had the same reaction as us--viewed the new menu and turned around and walked out.We were regulars at this deli for 12 years and unfortunately feel the changes are so poorly incorporated that we won't be venturing there as a family or with friends any longer--an end of an era. We hope after a few months, the Old Sautee Market re-analyzes and maybe makes a change. We'd certainly head back, if so. It was such a unique and fun place to eat lunch as a family or with friends. For those visiting Sautee Thursday-Saturday, head across the street to Sheilah's Market and Deli where delicious homemade sandwiches on artisan breads, homemade sides such as potato salad, pasta salad, broccoli salad, a large variety of homemade desserts and soups have won her accolades locally and state-wide as she was recently named a hot spot for lunch in a state-wide publication. Trust me, her food is delicious!

Store is a 5 but the sandwich shop is a 1 with the recent changes that took away all the reasons to come. 4 sandwiches to choose from and store bought bread. Oh, and you get them their way. "No changes, additions or deletions "

The definition of a hidden gem! Incredibly friendly service. Fresh bread, thick cut bacon and good cheese made an excellent club sandwich. They also have craft soda bottles and chips to choose from. We're just here visiting but this is my new go to lunch spot if visiting Helen/Cleveland/Dahlonega!!

Really cute old general store. The front seems to be the original store and it's really cool to see all the old products displayed. The back part is new and bright and definitely does not feel like a general store. Employees are super sweet and helpful. A free sample of cheese was offered and I definitely recommend trying it. There is a little deli-type restaurant on the side, but I did not go there.

If you've never visited this old gem, you're missing a great opportunity. It's a beautiful piece of history ... still standing and functioning in all its glory.Check it out and all the little shops within walking distance right there at the junction. There are great treasures in little places!

Great little place to get a sandwich at lunchtime if you want to avoid the Helen restaurant scene.
