  I waited a month after my haircut to post this review in case the cut grew on me but it hasn’t. At the beginning of June, I went into the salon for my first curly cut with no prior knowledge as to what a curly cut was. I had long, thick, 2c-3a type curly hair and asked for a short trim and for my layers to be evened out.
  
  I left the salon with choppy curls, stringy ends and 4 inches cut off- after paying $300. I went back in the following week for an adjustment because I expressed my concerns regarding the curly cut on the phone. my hair was cut dry again, and I left the salon with my hair two different lengths (photo). I sent an email the next day, expressing my concerns and requested a 20% refund so I could afford to go get my hair fixed at another salon, and they denied any refund.
  
  Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life. I wake up every day, hating my hair. The only reason this gets two stars is because the customer service is great, despite the fact that they do not educate their customers on what a curly cut is.

  Today was my first everrr curly cut and I am BEYOND IN LOVE! My hair cut, the texture of my hair, the luxury salon experience, the hands-on walk through, the expertise and knowledge. Whew!! I could go on and on .. MEGAN EXCEEEEEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS ON EVERY LEVEL! I literally had a million questions and she answered each one with CONFIDENCE and true wisdom as a curly hair professional. I will surely be a LOYAL and regular client. This is a new journey I am on and Megan gave me my very own confidence to START IT OFF RIGHT! THANK YOUUUUUU!! "I MEAN IT"?

  I had went in yesterday for a consultation, and let me just say all the staff are AMAZING! i loved how welcoming and kind each and every stylist was. The owner is amazing, so sweet and friendly. She broke down how the salon works and how every stylists knows how to work with curly hair which was exactly what i was looking for! Tanzania had my consultation with me. She broke down EVERY single detail of what i would need to do to get my hair back to normal whilst keeping the integrity of my hair. I also loved how open and upfront pricing would be so there would be no miscommunications come time for the appointment. I haven’t even gotten my hair done yet (soon to be a color correction) and i’m already well assured that i am in great hands. The first salon in ATL that truly feels like home! Super excited to see how my hair turns out! Shout out to Salon Skanda!

  I always know I’m in great and confident hands with Jacob, he is consistently a perfectionist and knows what he is doing. I always leave the salon feeling beautiful. He has mastered the most beautiful brunette color full of shine for my new style! I look forward to every single appointment knowing I will have an instant glow up with every experience!   TLDR: I was unhappy with my cut/style and expressed this to the salon in two different forums and no one could be bothered to call me back. Super disappointed.
  
  Full experience: I was on the hunt for a new stylist while working in Atlanta for a few months. I found Salon Skanda and I received my first ever curly haircut plus a refresh on highlights from Jacob a few weeks ago. In summary, I asked Jacob to keep the length, but see if we could find a way to keep the volume at the roots (ie layers), and to create natural looking highlights that would grow out softly.
  
  I expressed concern throughout the session that the color wasn’t quite right, I wanted an ashier tone, and that I wanted the highlights to grow out very softly. He kept saying yes a “golden” color which I expressed no, that was not the color I was going for. The highlights themselves seemed almost solid at the point of my part which seems like the opposite of something that will grow out softly. He convinced me to do the root shadowing (another $50) saying he thought it would resolve my concerns about the color and style of highlights.
  As we moved to styling, i pointed out that the products he was using were going to be too heavy for my super fine hair. He asked me to take a chance and allow him to put the two types of gels to see how my hair would do. He apparently didn’t feel the need to diffuse my hair to full dryness and instead put me under a drier. No surprise that my hair dried flat and almost straight for the first half, and weak curls for the second.
  
  I think he could tell I wasn’t thrilled, and said to sleep on it, style it for myself and if I don’t like it, to come back and we will see what we can do.
  
  When I got home, I found that I randomly have a curl that is a full 1-2 inches longer than all the rest of my hair, right down the center of my back. This is true even after I’ve styled my own hair with my own products. The root shadowing indeed has a sort of golden/reddish tone to it, which I wouldn’t consider “ashy”. And as my hair is growing out, it’s clear that it’s not as soft as I’m used to getting with previous stylists.
  
  I called the salon and left a voicemail asking if I could get a call back so we could fix it. I filled out a survey they sent out after my service about not being happy with my hair. Three weeks later and I still haven’t heard back. And now I’m going to spend an additional sum to go to my stylist in Chicago so she can fix things. So mad.

  The best part of my day is going to salon skanda. I feel like apart of the family when arriving and always have the most incredible experience every time I get a cut and color. Can’t say enough good things about each employee there and they work as a team. I always walk out feeling brighter and lighter. Salon skanda is the best salon I’ve ever been to.

  WOW I AM SO THANKFUL AND BEYOND IMPRESSED!
  
  First off, the process of getting your appointment is so very seamless and pain free, they were able to fit me in on short notice later in the week that I had called, and were super open and upfront about the pricing, costs, etc. so I felt great knowing what exactly to expect and budgeting accordingly. Cheryl is so very sweet and kind, so I was very happy to speak with such nice front office staff, as other salons I have been too, don’t always have the best bedside manner.
  
  Secondly, my hairstylist Randy is a SAINT from heaven above! MY FAVORITE HAIRSTYLIST EVER!!!
  
  Oh my gosh I walked into this appointment a complete ball of nerves because I had a HORRID last “Curly Cut Appointment at a completely different hair salon in Buckhead, 7 years ago, that resulted in my hair being severely choppy and uneven when I had gone in for layers.
  From the moment I walked in to Salon Skanda, the staff was so very courteous and kind, offering me refreshments and walking me to my chair YAY!
  Then, I was BLESSED with Randy who was so reassuring, patient, and knowledgeable!! A HAIR WIZARD!!
  He asked me all about my hair, what it had been through, what I do with it styling-wise, how my Wash Day routines go, what I would like to see from this appointment, etc. I was so happy, because I feel like at other salons, they only ask about the cut you want and then they go straight into it. Randy gave my hair much needed tender, loving care and didn’t rush into cutting or manipulating my hair in any way. He suggested we wash first, and they offer an affordable special where you can receive a deep conditioning treatment that contains peppermint oil prior to your shampooing, so I selected that, and I was so at peace and so relaxed as he washed my hair I nearly fell asleep, which never happens!!! All my nerves had dissipated at this point and I was simply enjoying the service as much as possible and soaking everything in. Meanwhile, as he washed my hair, he asked me more about my washing practices and what products I used during the process at home, and he offered such amazingly helpful suggestions that will make my Wash Days magical instead of tiresome and laborious!! I left the shampoo bowl with squeaky clean hair, smelling like a spa, and super moisturized and defined! He was so very gentle as well. Once we got to styling, this is where I got to see the magic happening with my own eyes! He worked through each and every part of my hair, leaving no section ignored or neglected; meticulously, he went throughout all of my curls ensuring that each ringlet was properly coated with enough product of climate definition and zero frizz!
  
  By the time, he was done diffusing, I was AMAZED! My hair looked absolutely fabulous, smooth, shiny, defined, voluminous, and with ZERO FRIZZ! Even my hair shape itself, the reason why I went in in the first place, had completely transformed beyond belief! I walked in with an uneven curly Mullet, and walked out with the most PERFECT shape before I even got it shaped and cut.
  
  Then, when it came to the Big Finale that I was scared of the most, the Cut itself, Randy was so considerate! I was TERRIFIED, I had not had a haircut (besides trims I gave myself) in 7 YEARS, and my last experience somewhere else was an utter and complete NIGHTMARE, as I watched my ringlets fall to the floor in clumps.
  This time, it was CATHARTIC and THERAPEUTIC!! Randy let me hold up a mirror and see EXACTLY what was going on and what needed to be improved in the front and the back! There was no mystery, no vagueness, no guessing, I got to see everything he planned on doing and he explained why thoroughly, so by the time he was done showing me, I didn’t even have any questions, which is unheard of!!
  Considering, I used to the the type of person to run away from haircuts, this was nothing short of a miracle and it was all thanks to RANDY THE MAGNIFICENT!

  The stylist clearly didn't aim for a proper blend, resulting in an awkward look. With my vacation just around the corner, this messy hair has unfortunately put a damper on my vacation excitement. It's safe to say my head feels like a complete disaster ?? Unfortunately, it's been 10 months and no one has contacted me or tried to connect with me so far.

  I have never had a stylist I didn't like at Salon Skanda. I drive over an hour to get there, but the service is so worth it.
  
  Stylist: Megan has cut my hair the past two times, and I've really enjoyed my hair cuts both times. I'm still learning how to handle my curls, so Megan's thorough explanation and patience was much appreciated.
