This is an organization that is supposed to feed and assist the poor. Unfortunately, some people who come to their property have violent tendencies. I encountered one such woman who was allowed to physically strike three people before she was supposedly banned. All she did was go to another one of their locations. There she was served by the black manager, because she was black, in opposition to the rules due to her violence. When I brought this to the attention of the CEO of their organization, instead of enforcing the ban to protect the other people coming on their property, he banned me for speaking the truth. I have now been denied the food and assistance that I need in the area I stay. Normally they would give you grace but I was punished and retaliated against for contacting the government agency that regulates them to complain. The CEO, Francis is a proud, egocentric, wicked white male who may work for the poor for a big paycheck but it doesn't mean he cares about us. I've been homeless in the area for 2 years now. I audio taped a verbal confrontation I had with this violent woman and made a formal complaint in their main office. I had proof that I was the Target and victim of a violent woman to attack me. I believe she did this at the direction of the manager who filed a false workers comp claim, who I reported to their main office. I was actually trying to help this organization to inform them of a fraud that one of their employees was attempting to commit. You would think they would be grateful to me for all I have done to bring them over 100 people who needed help in the local community. But instead of being grateful they cast me out and denied me food and assistance. I highly recommend that you seek assistance elsewhere. I am in the process a filing a complaint again with the governing body that regulates them. Perhaps if they suffer serious consequences for their discrimination and abuse of the poor they might adjust themselves.

So, I used to enjoy being a client of the CAC (Sandy Springs location) and I have been for many years. I just moved back to GA only four years ago and remember how much of a help they were to my children and I back when I lived here fourteen years ago. Anyhow, moving forward, I've never had any issues with financial assistance or the workers/volunteers that run the office. However, I am feeling a little discrimination when I enter the premises of the Thrift Shop.
I visit there once in a blue moon to check the balance on my client account just to see if there is anything that I "may want". I notice that when I approach the counter for check out or even a question, backs are turned and it's if I am being ignored at first until I open my mouth and speak up. However, I never notice that behavior with other clients/ customers. Thereafter, every time I check out, I notice that one of the items I choose always ends up on the floor while the worker/volunteer is putting the items into the bag. Why is this? Although, I never purchase any item from any thrift store and just wear it without washing it first, this is something that I notice at the CAC. What is this place turning into and what is the service really based off of because I sense DISCRIMINATION and I must say that I am becoming very disappointed with the "UPSCALE THRIFT SHOP". Like I said, I stop in once in a blue moon. That's it. That's all!! I donate all the time to many charities etc and I don't act like I am better than anyone there, so I don't know what the arrogance is about. Not at all. Terrible! (Check on your workers in the "UPSCALE THRIFT SHOP". )

Horrible experience ended up being sick the month of December so I was unable to work and unable to pay January rent. I called around looking for help so I wouldn’t get evicted. I found this place and was like finally some relief. They were only able to offer be 600$ towards what I owed already. Which is great 600 more than what I had. During this whole interview process never once did the lady I spoke with tell me the very vital information I needed before embarrassing myself when I came back for the check. So this whole thing was a waste of my time and time off work. They did not help at all and now I am going to lose my apartment. When this first started I would have recommended 100% but now I mean it’s up to you just don’t end up with the lady I got.

They may help you financially that one time but got discriminated the 2nd time even with proof of loss of income even though I'm a single mom with lupus and no child support, I am grateful for the food pantry but it really hurts to be unfairly discriminated to receive other types of assistance

Good afternoon! My name is Jeremy Glenn and I was contacted this morning by an Emily. I am sorry I missed the phone call and am emailing back to see if someone can give me a call back.My family and I are in great need of finanical/rental assistance. We are a family of four and homeless. We have been sleeping outdoors in the freezing cold with our children with nowhere to go.Someone was very nice enough to put us up in a hotel for six nights. I lost my job Thanksgiving week after having a very bad work related injury, and had to be in the hospital that weekend for two days.I do however start my new job on the 18th and my family and I will still need a roof over their heads when I start working. I dont want my wife and kids to be outdoors while I am at work and don't want to lose the opportunity to start my new job. Please stay away from this organization because they find ways to deny helping you in your time of need. I live in Sandy Springs and been here for a couple of years now. I sent this email to them and got a call twice. One missed and one responded to over the phone. False advertising services for donations. I will never recommend this fraud and refusing to help is not good serving any community. You might get away with this but please don't call people to deny assistance. Because I might report you to the Secretary of State for unfair business practices. Whoever denied the assistance to help should be fired today. Because the incident happened on this Friday (12/15/2023) at 10:30 am.

This place is no help. If your looking for a food pantry or for their thrift store services then you are good. But if you need rental assistance because of loss of job, work, or income well good luck. I tried to have them help me out a year ago when I was getting evicted from my apartment because of loss of income and my balance wasn’t very high and the best they could do was 400 dollars. So I decided to get two jobs and hustle! Still got evicted from my first apartment ever but got a new apartment and did good for myself for a year or so. Fast-forward a year later I’ve lost my job due to circumstances out of my control. They pledged to give me 600 dollars towards my 1500 dollar balance and bump it up to 1,000 with a dispossessory notice and would honor it till 12/29. They also told me to send them my termination letter and loss of income in which I did. I come back with that after I got it 12/4, minus the dispossessory because I guess my leasing off is trying to hold off because of my employment situation and that I’ve had recent close death in my family. But when I get there they say they can’t honor it. The CAC also said I have to show them that I have 2400 because November has already passed and I also have to have the difference for November and December. My plan was to get November paid so I could focus on getting a job this week, hopefully 2, in which I have interviews set up for so I could pay December rent by myself. I don’t like utilizing assistance centers because they never really help those in need and it’s embarrassing to even use because of how hard I work to still barely get by. What’s the point of being an assistance center if you don’t help people in need!? What was the point of asking for all my information to ultimately provide nothing and ask me to show them money I don’t have. So here I am again time wasted with them on their terms. It seems they only help scammers because every time Ive been there the only people they seem to help have new cars, clothes, and shoes but somehow need financial and food assistance. A car note is 2-400+ dollars and that’s not including insurance. So I’m not seeing how these people get assistance when someone like me who can’t afford all of that is in need. It’s very much like the welfare system and section 8. Never really helping you get out of poverty or tough situations just keeping you needing more so you can keep utilizing their service and keep them open and paid. And the people that know how to finesse the system get their way every time. I do not recommend and you are better off starting a go fund me, asking for change on the side of the road, or whatever else. Please look elsewhere before they waste your time and have you homeless when you could’ve found multiple jobs during the time they give you the runaround.

I just have a few words for this organization…SIMPLY THE BEST! Everyone is professional and welcoming and their goal is to make sure that they provide exceptional service. I would highly recommended if you’re in the sandy springs area and in need financial assistance. God bless them all!
