Island dog is the best dog shop on St Simon’s island!! We’ve been shopping there for years. Lynn, the owner, is just about the greatest human on the planet and is incredibly well versed on every item in her shop. She can answer any question you have about training collars, leashes, bowls, treats , grooming etc. absolutely fabulous!

Can anyone say treat! This quaint shop has everything you might need for the pet in your family.Very well stocked with pricing that as competitive you'll find anywhere even on line.Your pets are always greeted first and I liked that about this place. I was able to meet Lynn & Julie and they were delightful. They gave my toy poodle, Jolie Fleur, a SSI bandana to wear, I offered to pay and said that they were doing that for Memorial Day weekend. We talked about different topics and I made a purchase for Jolie Fleur. Never any pressure just meeting new friends.Location is in the middle of everything so if you travel to this enchanting island do yourself a favor, stop in to say hi!What I have learned! Shopping local is always the best way to have some great finds and meet some wonderful folks! Tell them Tina & Jolie Fleur sent you!

Such sweet people who own and run this store. An even bigger bonus that the only dog food they carry is the very high end brand we use for our GSD! The staff are very knowledgeable and good with dogs. Our GSD was very nervous to walk in and they gave her space and distance to get comfortable walking around before gently and steadily approaching her to offer a treat.They also are extremely caring when issues arise. There was an adorable smaller dog that walked in off-leash and was bee-lining for our GSD. She instantly started to growl and the staff quickly rectified the situation as soon as the saw the off-leash dog.They have a wide variety of unique and hard-to-find treats, toys, supplies, etc. We found a GREAT leash handle for our arthritis, some super healthy raw-hide free treats, a beautiful rainbow bridge gift for my parents recently passed pup, and so much more. I also very much enjoyed the friendly conversation with the staff. They treated us like they had known us for years! It’s been hard to find kind, accepting people around here, given that my husband is black and I am white and we are in a very conservative, traditional southern state. But these people were some of the kindest souls I have ever met, and it offered a warm hearted break from the nasty looks we’ve gotten every day just walking through the village together. I can’t wait to vacation here again just to visit this shop!

We went into the store and had my six year old son and his friend with us. Both kids were behaving and looking at the cute dog clothes discussing them. One employee said to another, "I am keeping an eye on the kids." A third employee later scolded them for touching the dog leashes. The kids were only looking at them, not pulling on them like I was told. I know this because my husband was watching the children. As a family, we did not feel welcome in this establishment like we do at most small businesses located in Saint Simons. I could understand if the kids were misbehaving, but they were just looking and talking to one another. We ultimately put our merchandise back, and left the store.

They are definitely dog people!We love the Chicken Chips! I break the chip circles into four (4) pieces for my 3-1/2# Maltese mama dog I rescued from a Louisiana puppy-mill about five years ago! She has only two teeth but lots of determination!! I enjoy going into their store!!

Best dog store! We visit every summer when we vacation on Jekyll Island and stock up on necessities and toys for our pup. Never disappointed! The Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Look forward to our visits!

The owner was super knowledgeable and helpful and even helped me alter my dog's existing harness so that I didn't have to unnecessarily buy a second. She also helped with some needed behavior tips. We will return here to support this great local business every time we are on the island. So impressed with her knowledge and helpfulness.

They had a lot of cool treats for my Great Dane! The employees were friendly and very helpful. They knew a lot about their products also. This may be the best pet store I’ve ever been to.
