Extremely professional. Emily offered her expertise & proceeded to reward me withe the best cut & color I've had in years. A gem on the Island.....old reviews have nothing to do with current quality. I'll be back!

I've always been a huge AVEDA fanatic, and after moving to the area, I googled and found this salon. I've got to say, the staff is amazing here. I felt so welcome, and everyone is so polite--it must be this Southern hospitality I've been hearing about(I'm from Connecticut, lol). Emily Butler, the owner, is a master at color! I've received so many compliments from coworkers, friends, family, and even my husband noticed how healthy my hair looked! It's not just the organic products, having a knowledgeable stylist definitely helps as well. I can say that I am a current client at A New Horizon and will continue to visit this salon and spa for as long as I live here.

I went to this salon/ spa to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding day. I was so disappointed with how my hair and make up turned out. Also, the makeup artist was pretty unprofessional as she gossiped with her guy friend the whole time and when a woman came in asking for a manicure she asked this guy friend if he'd like to do the women's nails. He responded by saying he didn't know how and had never done a manicure or pedicure but he proceeded to do it anyways. Please keep in mind they knew I was listening to this conversation the whole time and they did not care. At the end of the day I paid a lot of money and ended up having a friend of mine undo the mess they created. The women missed an entire section of my face!!!! It looked like I went to the mall and got one of those free makeovers. Also, what was done to my hair I could have completed myself for free and it probably would have stayed in place longer. Overall, I would not recommend this place to ANYONE who wants to look good in their wedding photos. Not worth the money at all.

December 2010 by Allison W.
I booked this salon for me(the bride) and part of my wedding party back in November for my pre-wedding nail appointment. Thank goodness I only went there for nail service. We arrived promptly at 10 to find a make-shift nail table waiting for me. I was told that the service I wanted(gel natural nails) was not available, and that no one there knew how to do it even though it was on their list of services on their website. I settled on a french manicure. The nail tech was shaking the whole time and didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. I later found out that she told the other nail lady who was working on my friends pedicure that "french manicures weren't her thing" and it was obvious. My nails were all different sizes and shapes, the whites on the french manicure were different sizes and one of my nails was broken and snagged. I talked to the managed(who was the only polite person there) and asked to have them done again, since it was such an important day and I really needed my nails to look nice. The other nail tech that was there had the audacity to look down at my nails, and rudely ask me what was wrong with my nails, as if it wasn't glaringly obvious that they did not look professionally done. She tried to fix what the other girl had done, but it was really too late. By the time she was done I was in tears. She had an attitude the entire time she was redoing them. I really needed that day to relax and to have a professional take care of my nails and it was the worst, rudest experience of my life. Do not go here. As if this wasn't enough, I was still charged full price for the crappy service. I'm very surprised that this is an Aveda salon, it does not live up to their reputation. I was lured in with all of their postings of being named a top salon in the area. This was clearly a long time ago, and the same people cannot be the ones that work in this place now. STAY AWAY!

August 2010 by Brandi J
Went here in August 2010 while on vacation for a pedicure mainly because I'd had excellent service in 2003 from the two professional ladies working there. Those ladies made my feet as soft as baby feet :) Anyways when I arrived this time I noticed that the staff and settings were a little different but didn't pay attention to it. BTW I was paying 55 bucks for a pedi in a foot spa that you get from Walmart (the little white Conair model) but at least they had a massage pad on the chair. Also after the lady was finished my heels were still rough. And she left finger nail polish all over my cuticles. Finally I met the owner and alas she had just bought the shop from the previous owner about 3 years ago (probably AFTER the shop won the best spa award in 2007, as it is so prominently displayed on their website). I could've gone to any random nail shop and paid $20 for equal or better service.
