the attendant looked at me through the door (at midnight … at a “24 hour” store btw) and walked the other way. change the hours online or get better staff.

Wow. Reviewing a gas station? They have to be pretty bad to give a review. Rude even when met with utter kindness. And the place is run down and filthy. Wrong area for that kind of attitude.
