They put a transmission in for me a year ago and I was pleased. A month ago my van was shutting off completely while going down the road, and my local mechanic suggested i have Gears check it out first just in case it was the transmission. I didn't want to void my warranty. When I called and spoke to Stephen he told me it would be a few days before they could take a look at it, and I was ok with that. A few days turned into three weeks without them even looking at it. They would promise they would look at it and call me the next day until three weeks passed with NO answers! I finally called and told Stephen to have the owner (Tyler) call me that day, he assured me he would. I waited two days, no call from anyone! I called and threatened them and they finally ran diagnostics and said it was an oil sensor and they would have to pull the intake and he said they should go ahead and put an oil filter too, and it would be roughly $1375. I didn't know how much something like that should cost so I called two other local mechanics which said that was about $1000 too much!!!!! I had a tow truck pick my van up and take it to Advanced Automotive Repair in Rock Springs, Ga, and saved myself $1000 dollars.
Now, I just pray the transmission has no troubles because I would never trust them! Also, Tyler never bothered to call me.

My car started slipping gears omw home from Atlanta. I was in tears and frantic with 600 miles to get home driving alone. Another shop referred me to them so I called, they checked my car out immediately and were very kind to me when I was in distress. They were able to diagnose my problem very quickly and didn’t try to milk me for money unnecessarily. I really appreciated that.

Took my jeep TJ to Gears after two other shops couldn't get it done. Professional team and good work. Will use again for next differential job!

7 weeks and counting!!!!
They said the NEW transmission would take two weeks (lie). It’s been seven weeks, and they still have my car.
Zero follow up. I have to ask for updates and I’m told “hopefully” it’ll be ready next week (lie).
At week six my brother went down there and they shook his hand that it would be ready that week (lie).

worst customer service i have ever experienced. no contact for updates on a vehicle, and no one there can give any estimate to a timeframe. do NOT waste your money. $6000 and 6 weeks shop time is ridiculous. so unprofessional

Good company it took some time but Steve was able to re build the transmission (46re) on my 1999 ram 2500 it shifts great and pulls strong couldn’t be any happier definitely will be doing more business with these gentleman highly recommended Gear transmission and I recommend Steve if your getting a transmission built

As someone from out of state, in desperate need to get back to AR, from the first phone call, my experience with Stephen, Tyler & the crew at Gears was exceptional. The care, concern and quality of service was both personal and professional.
Communication was 100% - even after hours! I cannot thank them enough for such excellent customer service!
The 10 hour road trip back home proved a job well done! Thanks again guys!!

Took my 2014 GMC sierra for transmission repair, was advised at time of quote that it would be 2 weeks before complete, after 2 weeks I received no phone calls, so I called them was advised by Jon that truck was on rack should be ready that day which was a Tuesday, no phone call on Tuesday so I called on Wednesday, was told by Steven working truck into shop , again no phone calls so I called on Friday was told transmission was out and took apart ready to install new parts , I called back on Monday was told that they found bolts broken on exhaust manifold at head , by Jon , had pictures sent to me , it was not broken at head , was broken at flange where bolts broken when exhaust was removed , I gave ok to repair , they replaced the right exhaust manifold, finally almost 4 weeks later , Steven called advise truck is ready , went to pickup truck on a Wednesday evening, left their shop , A-C not cooling , called Steven was advised they could maybe look at but could not make any repairs for a couple of days , Steven gave me the ok to check out and call him back because he thinks nothing they caused , after checking for leak found when right exhaust manifold was replaced the tech bent a/c lines going into firewall , causing a Freon leak , sent pictures to Steven was advised to bring truck back they would take care of repairs, took truck back on Thursday evening, called Friday was advised by Steven that they had expansion valve out , ready to install new one to see if that stopped lead , I went by their shop Monday morning found truck outside not in shop , Steven said they were back up and short of help , would get back in shop asap , called Tuesday afternoon, was told that they were taking expansion valve out then to check , after I was told on Friday that it was already out , you would think if this shop broke my truck a/c they would put this repair in front of other repairs well not here , I called Wednesday was advised by Steven would be ready Thursday, well no phone call, I call Steven was advised would be ready on Friday, well not ready every day I call Steven always got truck will be ready next day. My truck was in their shop almost 2 weeks for evop core replacement a problem that they caused, I will say the tech did good work , repair was made good and neat and clean , I think Steven has a problem of telling the truth and putting jobs in the right perspective,
