I bought my 2019 GMC in November of 2019. My respected mechanic of 30 years retired at the end of the year. I made an appointment to speak to the service manager at Hamby, Mr. Walker. I explained to him how, for 30 years, I had someone I could trust to fix anything my car needed, to not charge too much, I could call when I was out of town to see if the out-of-town mechanic was ripping me off. He actually talked to one trying to charge an extra hundred dollars for bearings.
Mr. Walker assured me that Hamby Service was that kind of place. That I would not be charged too much, that they could fix anything and would not “create” things to be fixed.
So, in February, when there were some recalls that needed to be addressed, and it was time for service, I bought in my vehicle. Shortly after Terry came to me in the waiting room to tell me I needed new tires and alignment. Because I had been told I could trust them, I did. Terry told me the tires did not come with any kind of warranty, but that Hamby would rotate them for free. Nearly $1000 later I was on my way.
Imagine my disappointment when my son, and several friends from church were shocked to hear the tires, with just 23,000 miles on them, needed to be replaced! ALL FOUR!
So, I went back to having my car serviced at Fountain where they also washed it and any other service that is needed is done by AAMCO on Pine Street or Raffield Tire off Zebulon Road.
Hamby, did however, rotate the tires for free for 58,000 miles. That is, of course, the amount of mileage I should have gotten on the first set. So, since Hamby essentially stole 30,000 miles of wear from me, I don’t intend to ever return.

My vehicle was running hot and leaked all my coolant out. I had it towed to Hamby to get it fixed. The diagnosis came back as a bad water pump and that it would be 1200 dollars to fix so of course I told them I would just have it towed somewhere else to get it fixed because that was like 3 times to much. I had it towed home and found a mobile mechanic and had it done for 300 dollars part and labor. I have always trusted hamby until now because they were always fair. Hamby also charged a ridiculous diagnostic fee of 175 dolIars. I even bought my vehicle from them. Very disappointed but glad I found a mechanic I can trust.

If you want quality, timeliness, or efficiency, then do NOT go here. These people did a shoddy job on my husband’s truck. They shortened the sensor cable, which will now cause friction. They completely left off the bolts to the air box and had no idea what happened to them while they were working on it, thus putting us at risk for the air box to come apart and mess with the engine. Then what, Will, the customer care manager told us was completely different than what the manager told us. The only person who seems to know anything at this dealership is Ms. Batchelor, the manager, who I commend for her customer service skills and ability to explain diagnostics/processing.

Good morning, I’d be happy to elaborate on the one star. Three different time I attempted to schedule a transmission fluid change and oil change for my Silverado. This dealership put a new transmission in my truck and I am getting close to the mileage that would void my warranty so I need it done. On all of my attempts I never recieved a confirmation of my “appointment” and no one would return my call. Earlier this week I again tried to “schedule an appointment” and again no confirmation. I am accustomed to getting confirmation text from another dealership. Someone from the dealership text me after I requested “chat” and I explained that I just wanted to confirm I have an appt to avoid showing up and not being able to get service. The lady assured me that someone from service would call me to confirm. That was at 0718 and late yesterday afternoon after not receiving that call, I called back. They explained to me that the service dept does not even see the online scheduling so they would not know. The person I spoke to said that the service dept had voiced concern over this practice but that they were required to continue with it. This practice seems disingenuous to be if not completely dishonest but seems to be as good as it gets. That aside, there is no excuse for no having someone return my call after being told that they would. My time is valuable to me and I don’t appreciate practices such as this that devalues not only my time but appreciation for my business. I am currently in your service dept finally getting my service if you would like more detail please feel free to step over and I’d be glad to speak to you.
Just to update my review. The Service Manager ( Ms Batchelor ) Called me and explained how the online scheduling works and how the situation I described above occurred. She was very polite and professional and I appreciated her calling. I was completely satisfied with her explanation. Thanks for calling me!

I was really impressed with the level of service I received. I had a great experience with Hamby Automotive, Juston in particular. His customer service was top notch. He was very responsive, helpful, patient, and assisted me in getting my GMC Yukon with no headaches. I would definitely recommend this company to others. Thanks Juston!

My experience today at Hamby Chevrolet was over and above excellent! I was there to get my brakes looked at and had been quoted over $2000 for a repair at another franchised dealership, that ended up being under $500 when taking my business to Hamby. These guys are amazing!… straight up honest and focused on 100% customer service and repeat business. Not only will I continue to refer my friends here to get their vehicles serviced… It is more than likely that I will purchase my next vehicle there and I hope that everyone else in the area that needs a vehicle will stop by and see Boris & Mack!…. These guys are two Amazing Managers leading an amazing team of sales and service professionals. I would recommend Hamby Automotive to anyone looking to service their vehicle or purchase a vehicle without hesitation! Unfortunately, I can only give five stars because they deserve 10!!!

We have family in Georgia that purchase all their vehicles, from Farm vehicles to fleet vehicles and shared their great buying experiences with us. We are located in New Jersey and we called the salesperson and immediately the person took the time to spec out a truck to our liking. It Is very difficult anymore to find a salesperson that is not pushy and not trying to just sell you something you don't want. This was totally not the experience we had. We had great communication all along as the truck was being built right up to the minute of its arrival at the dealership. We were able to get on a plane and fly down to pick up our truck. There was a small commute from an airport drop off to Hamby Automotive and our salesperson actually came out like our personal limo driver and picked us up. Our truck was waiting for us and our salesperson took the next few hours with us to explain everything and even checked on us on our commute home to be sure we arrived safely back in New Jersey. We have recommended this dealership to many friends and family. it is worth the time and travel

So, I left an unsavory review from my experience a few months back and an hour later I'm getting calls and texts from the business. Is this supposed to change the fact that we were told 13,000 down to turn us away? But bought a new car from someone else for less than 1k down the same day? No. So please do not contact me again. I feel like you are trying to intimidate me about MY review about MY experience with your business. I cannot be intimidated.

Brought my 2023 TrailBoss in for routine maintenance. While there I went to the parts department in search of information and accessories for my truck. Chris in the parts department was patient and very helpful. He answered all my questions and was able to assist me in my purchase. Thank you Chris for your help.

Normally, they're open and I can pick up my car from a salesman after the service department closes. They must've changed their hours and not posted it anywhere online or on the building because I came tonight at 6:19pm and they were locked up with no one there.

Breanna is fantastic to work with. We had a transmission go out in our ‘19 Suburban and she was quick to get it in, diagnosed, and taken care of. She kept me informed and up to date of the entire process. Great Experience
