Tl:dr; The staff is incompetent and they don’t stand behind their work. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
First, we call to confirm that they can turn our crank, check our cylinders, check the cam, fix a rod, and fit the pistons. When I went to drop the motor off, the person at the front didn’t remember the call nor did he understand what I was asking for. After several minutes of back and forth I finally got him to remember the phone call.
Secondly, we go to pay the remainder so that they can drop it off locally to us when they complete the repairs and the guy tells us he had to bore the cylinders, replace the pistons, and was waiting for other new parts to come in. Understandable they had to bore the cylinder and replace the pistons sure, but the dude also had the wrong camshaft in the block and we didn’t need anything new. We brought everything. He thought he was doing us a favor when there was nothing wrong with the camshaft we took to them and it was more aggressive than the one they tried to sell us.
We didn’t think much of it. They assemble the short block and drop it off to us. We finally get it back into the vehicle and running only to find out it’s pouring oil out of the back of the engine, rear main seal more than likely. So we call to see if they will warranty any of their workmanship and they flat told us no way because we didn’t buy a long block for more than double($4k) what we paid. We had heads that were resurfaced so we didn’t need a long block. This guy continually had to be reminded what we wanted and even agreed to on the phone.
Stay away from this business.

I choose to use them on a friend's recommendation and was told they could get the work done fast compared to several other shops I talked to. After I was told it would take 2 weeks (it actually took 2.5 months) to clean and bore out my block polish the crank and install cam bearings and install the pistons on the connecting rods. I had 3 problems. I was putting the pistons in the block when I found one piston was cracked next to the oil ring, you could see tool marks where they tried to straighten it. Then I found a oil plug was missing in the valley for the lifters. The final issue was the cam would not go in without locking down to where it would not spin. Found the center cam bearing was rolled on the edge catching the camshaft and pinching it down. I would not recommend them at all. I live several hours away from them so it is a pain to find time to run back and forth for issues. I have pretty well decided I will fix the cam bearing on my own and use a local shop to replace the pistons again.

Those guys will bend over backwards to help you get back on the road. They are very knowledgeable and even after the rebuild is complete you can still go back to them for help.

It was A very quick R&R. Paul was very knowledgeable about my rebuild and was very compassionate about his business. Al in a nut shell if I have another breakdown I will be using Knico again. Great group of men that work there!!

Few days ago i bring it 2 chevy Astro van head and the guy that resive take the head then hi said me that head is not good becouse got crack, them he talk to me telling me they have two used head in good condition!, so i went and pick back the head, 27 years working mechanic in the usa!, & 14 years in the Cuban island! I don't trust that used head that i bring was crack becouse my experiance is 42 years working the engine tecnology

Complete rip off they ruined a block I had over 1200 dollars in . They messed up line honing block and tried hiding it by welding up the spine of the block.do not trust them at all I feel sorry for the employees that work for them.its under new ownership they are dirty.Service: Motor building
