I brought my fur baby to this facility for treatment of constipation. After an exam and x-ray, I was told with zero empathy by Layla Smith that the only option would be to sedate her and manually remove the impaction, and as a result she "probably won't wake up" because of her advanced age. I was so devastated to hear this was the only option, however, I was determined to get a 2nd opinion. When I mentioned that we would be leaving without the procedure, I was offered a stool softener and was told by Layla that it "probably won't work". I was livid that Layla Smith would offer the alternative treatment of the stool softener only AFTER advising me that killing my cat was the only option. When I got back home, I read the negative reviews for this place and saw one where a cat was given a prescription by this facility that killed them within 24 hours. Thus, I threw away the Rx I got from Layla. As I write this and wait for our scheduled visit with another, more familiar vet, I am happy to report that my cat has finally pooped on her own! We will keep our scheduled visit with our mobile vet to get to the cause of the issue (which Layla Smith did not even try to do) and ensure we avoid this issue going forward. I DO NOT RECOMMEND LAKE DOW ANIMAL HOSPITAL!
**UPDATE** the 2nd opinion, from a real vet, was to give my fur baby small doses Miralax and it has worked! She is pooping like a champ. All is well because I trusted my instinct and decided not to let Lake Dow Animal Hospital treat my fur baby.

Clean and spacious. There is plenty of room to keep pets apart. Staff are all great. They are caring and thorough. Handled my not so gracious cat with kindness and understanding.

We have had both of our fur babies checked out here now and saw Dr. Craig with our Annabelle and Dr. Miller with our Champion. Both ladies were friendly and very informative. They checked out my babies with care and I felt like they understand that some babies aren't just pets but family. Definitely recommend for your fur babies care!! Thank you Alyssa for the recommendation!

Dr. Craig is untrustworthy in telling us the temperament of our Dog. Our dog has had no problem with anyone else in the office and other past vets we have had yet she is constantly saying that our dog is aggressive towards her. Knowing my dog it doesnt seem likely but if it was the truth than what is she doing to my dog to make her act so differently?
UPDATE: After our last appointment with this vet my dog has been afraid of other vets we had to bring her to. I dont know what they did but after 5 YEARS of going to different vets she has NEVER had any problems with any other vets until this one! Be wary of this location or your pets might have a personality change too

So far they have been a life saver to my German shepherd Luna. She suffered from seizures and they hav always called her meds in quickly and process the request for the ones to pick up very quickly. They answer questions and have very friendly front desk staff. Even when my baby got a ear infection they got her in fast. Thank you for caring!

For anyone reading reviews because they don’t understand how to the urgent care appointments work: Each day they reserve 2/3 spots for sick pets. They start booking the day before and the spots go quickly. So for example, you call as soon as they open on a Monday, you can get a sick appointment for Tuesday morning.
Now that I’m done with that, this place is absolutely amazing. This is the absolute KINDEST vet I’ve ever been to. In my 12 years of adult life I’ve always had pets, all of them rescues with health needs but I’ve also moved around a lot, so I’ve been to dozens of different vets. Every single one, even if they did adequately treated my pet, I left feeling so gross. 99% of vets are so money aggressive, even when I know for a fact there’s cheaper options that will work too they just chose not to let me. I know it’s a hard industry, like human healthcare, to work in and not get jaded. But Dr Craig and the other vets we’ve seen have been amazing. Beyond amazing. Around Christmas, one of my cats broke her leg being a cat, and they only charged us $200(!!!!) for x-raying and casting her leg. I went back as instructed one a week for them to examine her leg and rewrap it. All those visits were quickly and only about $30.
More recently, my other cat (a male with known urinary troubles) had a blocked urethra which can turn DEADLY in cat in a matter of a single day. Since we are frequent clients, my husband called the moment they started answering the phone on a saturday!! They agreed to see our boy, kept him hospitalized with a catheter over the weekend, put him under anesthesia a second time to give him another catheter when he tore out his first and had him for 5 total days and nights. Guess how much that cost? At an emergency vet it would have cost 10,000 minimum. But at Lake Dow, it was $720 and that included a months worth of prescription food for us to take home and two different medications.
They’re a little hard to get into bc they’re so amazing, but once your pet becomes a patient there, it’s very easy to get appointments!

Misdiagnosed my dad’s dog with an “inoperable tumor” and sent her home without any pain meds or antibiotics (dog was extremely uncomfortable). I am a registered vet tech and after seeing the area I had another vet confirm it was just an abscessed anal gland, and got her healing. So many things wrong with that visit. Records were put under a different doctor than who saw her at that visit and no notes at all about the tumor conversation! This is very bad medical practice.
Also years ago they overdosed my mother-in-law’s dog on metronidazole and caused nearly fatal seizures in her Doberman. They admitted the dosage was wrong when my MIL confronted them. I wouldn’t trust them. Always get a 2nd opinion if something doesn’t seem right!!

I have been with them since the start and im sure there are some there that truly want to help animals. But for the second time i ask please to let me bring my dog in that was not doing good. My opinion they have gotten too big and more into making money. Quit taking new patients if you cant handle emergency for your regular customers. I couldnt even get a walk in. First time my pup died. I highly reccomend you find a more caring place and not in it for the money!!!
