I'm so thankful we found Papayago. We are new bird owners and needed to board our two conures for the first time. I was very anxious about it but Brianna kept in touch with us via email and even sent photos. They also helped transition our birds from seed to pellets and weighed them each day to make sure they were eating and gaining weight. Brianna also gave me advice on what to do with certain behaviors she saw in our birds and I appreciate it so much. We will definitley use Papayago anytime we need boarding and will love to support them.

Some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Get a bird elsewhere. If you don’t believe me, look at their responses to all of the other bad reviews.

First I called and no answer, so I drove there because they close at 5pm. I get there and it’s closed. There is a sign on the door that’s it’s only by appointment, so I take a picture of it, I go on the website, and there is a $27 application fee, which is more expensive then the cost of a budgie at pet smart. One of our Conures flew away and he was rescued by papayago and look after for over three weeks until we prove ownership. My mom was supported day by day in the process, my son contacted Maria while he was in Europe and she have options for us to retrieve the information and how to get the IDs we need it for the bird.We felt confident that they truly care to release the birds to their owners and not to make business out of it.When we retrieve Pepe we met the owner Maria, her daughter and of the volunteers Rocio and her son. This place is full of love and care for all these birds that lost their homes. These people are fully committed and dedicated to this animals and they only care for their safety.I haven’t seeing so many unique birds together all well look after. At the same time We brought to them our canary who broke his leg and they look after him with no hesitation while the hospital admitted him for surgery. Without their support by now the canary could also be death. This place is a blessing for all these animals and for families like ours. They make it possible to be reunited back with our pal. Thanks and blessings from our family and Pepe and Piolin. The work you all do only God can compensate it and can only be appreciate it by those who know how complex is to look after animals and provide the best for them without asking for anything in return. Thank you!

I wish I could give a good review, but every bit of my experience was awful. Maria is pretentious and thinks that she knows every single thing about a birds health and welfare. She made a bold claim the first time I went to her rescue that she could imagine, from the bird's point of view, how they end up at her rescue. Heaven forbid you have a disability or have to rehome a bird, because she will demonize you and treat you as a nonexistent sob story to garner more sympathy for her rescue.

The place looks very crowded. We drove there just to be told that they closed for public. How do people adopt the bird without even looking at one?!

Still kicking myself for not doing this earlier but ah, well, better late than never! This place is truly incredible and it took going to school out of state to keep me away physically!! The people are great and the birbs are obviously awesome, I even got a cockatoo as a best friend and even got a tattoo in her honor!! Overall, this place is a second family to me and deciding to randomly type “bird rescue” into the Google search bar because I was bored one day in 2021 was the best decision I ever made <3

The work that Papayago do with birds is amazing. They rescue them, retrain them, give them the best food full of nutrients. They rehabilitate them, give them meds as prescribed by vets. The birds receive love and caring during their stay in the rescue. The people that work are constantly learning and educating the community about how to take good care of the birds. They know the history of each bird in the rescue, and when you want to adopt them, they make sure that you and the bird are a good fit. I love the fact that they are very strict with all the adopting requirements, because they are thinking about the well-being of the birds. They also help bird owners with knowledge and advice besides other important needs like boarding, nails trimming, etc. Also, when you adopt from them, you join a fantastic family of bird birds- parents that share with you ALL about their lives with these wonderful creatures!

It's so important to consult with an expert who knows how to match birds with owners when considering adoption. Maria and the workers at Papayago are expert scientists, take the best care of surrendered birds, train them exceptionally, and know exactly how to create a successful match for adoption. Pet stores and bird shows foster random matches which commonly lead to incompatibility and surrender. Exotic birds are not easy to care for because of their wild instincts, and it's so important for a prospective family to understand their own limitations and be honest with Papayago up front to ensure the best match, if any. Bird husbandry isn't for the casual observer or animal lover, it's for seriously dedicated individuals who have self-discipline, emotional regulation, routine, respect for nature, structure, persistence, unconditional acceptance, patience, financial stability, and a passion for the scientific method, amongst many other qualities that Papayago looks for in a good match. I suggest volunteering at first to learn what's involved! Exotic bird handling can not be learned or tested for suitability on YouTube, at pet stores, or at bird shows. The wisdom required for success can only be learned from experienced scientists like Maria at Papayago Rescue. I am surrendering a blue- crowned conure and wouldn't trust anyone in the world more than Papayago to love, help rehabilitate, and re-home him/her.

Papayago Rescue House is amazing! They rescue, rehabilitate, vet, care for, love, train, and provide amazing homes for hundreds of birds who have no other place to go. (Some other reviewers seem to think this is a 'store', but the name clearly says 'rescue'.) Adopt, don't shop! Adoption is a more thoughtful process than just walking into a store and buying a pet. The birds that are at PRH are loved, vetted, and trained (unlike a pet store). And PRH also loves and trains their adopters. Everyone becomes extended "bird family". PRH provides ongoing support, education, assistance, et cetera, both before and after you adopt. (You won't get that from a pet store!) The folks that run this rescue work day and night and weekend and holiday, tirelessly, to ensure these dear birds have the best possible experience in the PRH rescue until they find their new forever homes. If you were looking for an amazing place to find your next forever feathered companion, you won't do better than Papayago Rescue House!

This place doesn’t care about birds and hung up on me as I was trying to find out information to help a bird that’s how much they care. Then they wouldn’t answer my phone calls. I wasn’t rude or anything I was just asking her to repeat what she said to do since I was driving and couldn’t write it down. If they cared so much they would’ve Have willingly answer the phone so that I could get the help for this bird.
