I've looked all over the web for places to review Ameris, because they make me so angry. Their level of customer service... long waits... long waits only to be told there's no one working... after hours i've yet to speak to a single person ever.... they're just atrocious. they have my mortgage unfortunately. avoid if at all possible!!!!

I had the worst experience getting approved for my mortgage with ameris. They lied and told me I didn’t qualify for a mortgage loan with a lower rate and higher down payment assistance so they could make more money off of me. I brought it to their concern and then they gave me the better option. Minorities steer clear. They will lie and abuse you financially. I even gave them a chance to fix it. Their lie cost me over $7k and that’s not ok. Ameris engages in predatory lending behaviors with minorities and it’s unacceptable and not right. Becky settles is the worst and Michael covered it up. Not a bank for minorities who want to be treated fairly and honestly when applying for any lending products. Disappointed and disgraceful. This is why economic inequality exists. Disappointed

If I could give 0 stars to this bank, I would. I would like to file a formal complaint against Ameris bank for making a bank error against my automatic payment and not owning up to it. Ameris bank never contacted me prior to March of 2021. I was an original customer of Fidelity, but Ameris did not do their due diligence to let me know they had taken over my loan almost 2 years prior to their first communication. They went on to take my payments off automatic payments WITHOUT informing me and punishing me in the meantime. What a fraud of a bank. You should be ashamed.

STAY AWAY!!! I had 2 mortgages with Ameris, both of which came with mistakes in my escrow accounts and incompetent customer service. One of those mortgages is not even 6 months old, I have had 3 escrow analyses completed, all of which have been incorrect and now they are including an escrow back payment in my mortgage statements. Currently looking into what other options I have since they clearly demonstrate no intention of correcting this.

go somewhere else for a commercial account. ever since Fidelity was bought out by Ameris they have the same crappy customer service as all the big national banks. find a smaller local bank that cares about customers.

Covid-19 Response leaves much to be desired. Ameris Bank is still asking for a full hardship application almost like applying for a mortage. Wellsfargo just call and it's done. Hmmm I'll remember this the next time we refinance or purchase. Ameris Bank not supporting its clients.

Ameris really needs to get their p*** in a group. I received a letter stating I needed to return it within 4 business days otherwise my automatic withdrawals would be cancelled. What if I were out of town? That deadline is too tight. The best part is that they couldn't even bother sending a return envelope. I wanted to call customer service to verify what address to return the letter by following the directions on the letter bit the automated options didn't even match the letter. Not off to a good start, Ameris!
