If customers are spending money at your store, why would you charge for a bag to put it in?

I had to return a purchase that I made online and the associate made it very easy. I completed my return and she recommended some other items that I might try to help with my blind dog. She also checked in on me as I was shopping to see if I needed any other assistance.
