Horrifying update. It turns out that this "accountant" was in fact NOT licensed to work on business tax returns. Even though H&R Block were aware that they were referring us to a representative to remedy former malpractice, we were then literally handed to someone who was acting without any of the licenses necessary.H&R Block informed me that this was a sackable offense. However, they never took adequate responsibility. I was promised a refund, which I never received.Furthermore, I was told that their head office would call me to discuss a settlement. For several weeks their representative kept assuring me that someone would be calling me within the next couple of days. Nobody ever called.I'm now consulting attorneys about bringing a lawsuit. This was clearly malpractice, and H&R Block haven't followed through on even their most basic promises for how they were going to remedy the massive loss of time and professional reputation this has cost my company.

After our previous preparer totally botched a return from a previous year, we've spent months trying to resolve it with the IRS. Finally decided to trust someone else to help.First visit, they needed more information. Got everything needed and made another appointment. Left work early and went to the appointment, only to be told no one could help and to make another appointment.Declined since what's the point of making an appointment when no one can actually help?Best of luck to anyone that needs help beyond a simple return!Plenty of other tax places out there!

The "tax professional" I met with (Anthonese Street) was supposed to be correcting a major error by another H&R Block accountant. However, it seems she managed to completely screw up our K-1 reporting - now compounding the issue even further! Her appearance felt unprofessional (badly chipped nail varnish, leggings)...not what one might expect from someone working in the financial industry.[My position is that if someone can't sufficiently manage their own personal appearance...why should the general public trust them to be responsible and detail-oriented enough to manage company finances? If someone doesn't respect themselves enough to even put on a work-appropriate pair of pants and handle basic grooming...why should I respect them professionally? If someone is working in the financial services industry, there's a responsibility to meet a minimum threshold of professional appearance!]Anthonese told me that everything had been prepared, and that she just needed me to come into the office to sign one document. However, she then proceeded to take 40 minutes of my time on a first visit, and then almost 2 hours on a second visit! There didn't appear to be any awareness from Anthonese about how inappropriate that was - or any sense of urgency or apology. On my second visit Anthonese repeatedly told me that her software had crashed - only for a colleague to explain to her that she'd actually input two fields incorrectly. She slandered the work of my bookkeeper - only for it to become very clear that the bookkeeper had not made a mistake. (And furthermore, she even gave the wrong date for 1099 reporting to my bookkeeper.)Even after I confronted her about this, she continued to try to sell me on firing my bookkeeper and hiring her private side-hustle business to do my bookkeeping. H&R Block have since told me that it is completely forbidden for a H&R Block representative to be soliciting a client for a different business. And when she presented me with an invoice for work she had done privately, it required payment via CashApp! Completely unprofessional and inappropriate!Anthonese couldn't even get the payment system to work. After several minutes of waiting, I told her to call me later for card details when it was working. But then when she called me later she still couldn't get the system to work. She then had a colleague do it, who proceeded to take down my card number incorrectly three times.Furthermore, Anthonese attempted to charge me $200 more than what had been quoted. When I confronted her on this, she said that she'd just made an assumption as to the cost of one of the returns. I told her that her making an assumption was her mistake, and that when I'm provided a quote by a business I expect them to stick by it. She backed down...but this example of her willingness to not pay attention to details, and then expect her client to bare the cost of that felt like a major indicator of my entire experience with her.I had clearly asked for investor K-1s to be provided as a digital document, and for a digital copy of the invoice. However, I was sent documents that had merged the K-1s in with the receipt. When I complained, I was advised to manually fix this issue myself!I insisted on being sent standalone K-1s. But when I asked to please be sent a digital itemized bill, rather than just a receipt, I was refused. (What's particularly shocking is that of all people, I would think that a tax "professional" would understand why itemized bills are important, and that most companies hold digital copies these days!)From beginning to end, this was amateur hour. No respect for my time, an insufficient understanding of professional appearance, inappropriate solicitation, heavily disorganized work, and ultimately, we're now left with an even greater mess that we have to sort out with the IRS!The fact that any company, and any individual, would deem such unprofessional service to be acceptable is scandalous.
