What kind of veterinarian, that one would assume loved animals, was patient and compassionate would block your phone number when you get 'upset' (no yelling, cursing, placing blame or anything-just questions) over the future ramifications after they caused/allowed my tiny Yorkie to aspirate Barium into her lungs during an x-ray? A lot of Barium. Dr. Whitlow said it may in fact shorten her life span. A loving veterinarian I've seen since, saw the films after her own exam and brought them to show me. She asked what happened and after hearing the story she stated she'd never seen or heard of anything like what they did to my dog, even including her years of schooling. Appalling and shocking were words used. She stated the best accepted method is to give the barium in a little food, especially if the dog is scared or squirming. Four Paws responded to their mistake by blocking my number. After what they did, a lifetime of vet care wouldn't seem unreasonable when we consider our animal babies to be our children-especially if you could never have your own human babies! Not that I asked for or expected that. When I'd call to get an appointment I'd be told he's booked and I'd have to pay an 'urgent care' fee. When I'd try to schedule for weeks out they'd say I'd need to call closer to or the morning of the desired appointment. It was impossible to even get in to have my dog seen for simple things like a shot or nail clipping! I've read on 'Nextdoor' numerous complaints about Dr. Whitlow and or his staff. I really don't know if he ordered his staff to block my calls, or is aware of scheduling issues. I've never, ever given a bad review to anyone, even a restaurant. But I sure wish I'd known of this clinic's callous attitude before taking my helpless pet there. So if you are new to LaGrange-you might want to pass this along and keep looking.

I worked at Four Paws Animal Hospital for 6 years and have nothing but great things to say. After leaving the animal hospital for a different career path, Dr. Whitlow and his family have been nothing short of fantastic since I left. All 3 of my animals still go to Dr. Whitlow and LOVE going there. We used another vet before I started working there and our animals were not so eager to leave us. Now, our animals love going to the vet because they are spoiled. The kennel assistants and vet techs treat my animals as if they were their own and it’s amazing to see how much they love them! So many positive experiences with Four Paws that there simply isn’t enough room to right everything! If you need anything, Four Paws is by far the best place in LaGrange!

Dr, Whitlow is highly competent and very gentle and loving with my pets: cats and dog. My sweet ginger kitty was adopted from 4 Paws.

If you are using 4 Paws you better hope your pet doesn't have an emergency during a holiday week or after hours. Dr. Whitlow is just "not available", and you can figure it out on your own. Or drive all the way to Furbuds in Opelika, AL and hope for the best. Isn't being on call part of being a medical provider? Be prepared to pay high prices at 4 Paws as well - it's all about the money over there. Found out Dr. Whitlow was up charging a medicine he was ordering for our dog from another pharmacy by $60 every time we refilled. $60!!!!! Isn't that what's known as extortion? We're done!!

Called with an emergency after hours. 4 am in the morning on a Saturday. My 16 year old Dog was having seizures and in a bad way. Finally got a call back at 8:30 to ask if I was OK because she passed before the got to the office. DO NOT CALL FOR EMERGENCIES. Try someone else. But, thanks for your concern.

Had a Pet emergency with my daughters cat, we've had the cat for nearly 10 years. The cat recently came down with a strong virus and was in need of immediate medical attention. On 05/20/2019 my wife and daughter called Dr Whitlow for help, and were told that they were busy and couldn't be of assistance to us until after the holiday. When it was relayed to them that this was an emergency and that the cat was going down hill fast, they were told i'm sorry we don't even have a doctor on duty that would be able to help you. the receptionist made an appointment for them for tuesday. Our dying family member continued to get worse, so I ended up taking him all the way to Opelika Al to a vet there that hospitalized our cat, saying that he might not make it but she would do her best. That was on 05/23/2019. She said that if the cat had received antibiotic assistance prior to that date he would've had no trouble recovering. This morning, we received a call from her saying that the cat was just too far gone and had passed away. My child sat up for two days with no sleep trying to nurse her cat. Had the pet HOSPITAL had a doctor on duty in the middle of the week instead of taking the whole week off for a holiday that was a week away, my child would not be shedding tears instead of enjoying her pet. none of the other pet agencies in LAGRANGE had a doctor on duty until tuesday also! So... if you have a pet that gets sick during a pre-holiday week in lagrange GA, expect to be burying it instead of having it treated!!! I will never use a vet in Lagrange GA again. My other animals will be taken to Alabama to be treated if needed. My advice to the Lagrange patrons is stop using the vets here and put them out of the business that they obviously do not care about!!!

The staff is very friendly every time I've gone with my cats, a quick and painless in and out. They've been very gentle with them and did a good job spaying one with no complications. They also helped my older cat get better when sick. Never went with a dog, but they're really good with cats.
