We love AVS! We moved to the area last year and have bounced around Vets offices to find someone we like. Dr. Alston and his team were the perfect fit!
Very knowledgeable about anything that could be the cause for any visit and his team treats our babies like their own. Never once have we been displeased with the service there!
Even better, their prices are extremely reasonable as well! They're not out there charging as much as possible just to fill their pockets.

This place is HORRIBLE!!!! DONT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!! They have horrible customer service and the DR isn't upfront with you about services and they charge outrages prices. The assistants are not gentle with your pets. Definitely dont recommend.

It was my first time taking my baby to Dr Darin and he and his staff were great. They made Jade and myself feel safe and comfortable. I have a new vet for my baby.

Very caring and gentle with our baby. They were very sympathetic with the kids we were fixing to face as hard to have one of our babies laid to rest.

Our human family started a K9 Boxer family with Dr. Alston many generations of amazing dogs ago... He was a young vet then and we were on our 1st boxer named Remus. Since then, Dr. Alston, Allison, and all the friendly folks at AVS have continued to provide our routine wellness checks, shots, cleanings, etc for our Boxer family as we have grown. Remus and our rescue Cash had a large litter that Dr. Alston helped us prepare for new homes and continues to care for the two pups we kept, Fabiola and Seth. When we sold 6 of our 8 pups, we provided AVS as our vet of choice for the new families that lived nearby. So, in all this vet clinic has cared for the patriarch of our Boxer family until his departure at 11 years old. They care for Remus' Baby Momma "Cash" (our rescue from a Clayton County neighbor) who is currently about 11 years old. This very special team currently keeps Remus' two littermate pups in our household well - Fabiola and Seth (they are 7 years old). Last but not least, one of our families who took a pup 7 years ago still patronizes AVS for all of Sebastian's wellness needs. In all, it has been about 20 years of service with this clinic. We respect and try to patronize our local businesses, especially Black-owned business. Dr. Alston probably keeps costs to his clients so low by staying in the small strip of Youngstown Square off Point South Hwy and not wasting money on a bunch of bells and whistles that we pet-owners don't use or need anyway. This man knows animals. He no longer performs the big surgical procedures but, for your routine maintenance - this is your guy! Please don't pay too much credence to the nasty reviews for this business, they have and always will be a five star provider of services to pets!

I normally do not post reviews… but my dog is my baby!!! I took my babygirl to the Alston because she was itching and had blood in her stool. He seemed to not want to touch her much maybe because she is a Rottweiler (which everyone else in the office, employees and customers loved her and rubbed on her and complimented how sweet she was). He told me it was more than likely food allergies and tried to give me a $400 not including any allergy test because he stated that was too expensive. To find out a week later my babygirl has been suffering with mange (and ended up giving it to me). And now Alston is wanting more money for a problem that should have been taken care of weeks ago!!!

If I could give it zero stars, I would! Took our dog here for a rash. For one, they took her to the room (not to the back...the regular examination room) without us and then came back talking about wounds on her leg/thigh. NOT what she went in for. My husband explained how we have 3 dogs and they play rough (they are all pitty's). She was also adopted last year and already had those wounds...either way NON OF YOUR BUSINESS! They were NOT open wounds etc. Anyhow, they did whatever to her in the back and came back with some pills for her to take. Fine. Finished the round of pills, rash came back. So I call to ask them what should we do. The receptionist (rude AF), asks did her wounds heal? I figured she was talking about the rash, so I said yes. She went and talked to the vet, comes back and says (again) so her wounds on her thighs healed and her rash is still there? Then...it clicked! She was referring to the wounds that they pretty much accused us of inflicting on her! I said wait a minute... we're talking about 2 different things. I originally thought wound meant the rash. Nope...she was not focused on what we actually brought her in for! She then started to get an attitude with me, like she owns the place...maybe she does, who knows...but I know this much....NO ONE TALKS TO ME AS A CHILD! I paid for a service, and you were focused on other things! Yet, from reading review comments, it seems as though they should be worried about themselves and the dog they have tied up! Our dogs are happy, loved, sleep on our bed (yes 3 pitty's), eat better than us...so please back off lady and do your damn job! We will NOT BE BACK!!!! There are plenty of vets out here!
