Do NOT stay at this hotel! We just departed and had no A/C for three days. After having no A/C the first day and after multiple complaints to the hotel staff we were assured that the A/C was working, we just had to give it time. Finally, on the second day they sent a maintenance guy to the room who determined we had no A/C. There are magnets on the doors that turn off the A/C if the sliding glass doors are open (sounds reasonable). However, the magnet was broken and had fallen off. The kid, jury rigged a piece of magnet to get the system operating again. That night the jury-rigged piece fell off and we had no A/C again. On the third day another guy came and replaced the magnet correctly. Upon check-in the room was filthy with disgusting mold in the shower. We complained and was told housekeeping would clean it, they never did! Be aware that it is a pet friendly hotel, however the A/C also shuts off (when it’s working) if there is no movement captured by sensors in the room. IE, you dog will be sitting a room that is 85 degrees! Ironically, while the A/C was working in the main hotel and the hallways, the outside door was disfunctional and would not shut our entire stay. We requested a Manager deal with these issues, but NEVER heard from anyone. This also was not a cheap room, we stayed in a beachfront suite (202).
Update: I just got a call from the hotel GM who apologized for the issues and comped me two days. What the hotel guys don’t understand is that will not fully compensate for my terrible Father’s Day week. Getting two days free under what can best be described as inhumane conditions does not make everything better! Marriott corporate customer service has been useless! They stated they would send my complaint to the hotel.
The actual worst thing about this hotel which I did not mention since it’s not a customer service issue, is that you CAN’T go in the water. There is 9 inches of silt and muck from the dredging of the port. No one was in the water at all. This caught me and most others by surprise since you would think you could go in the water at a beachfront hotel!

My stay started off bad. The room that we had, had a pest problem. We notified the GM Caleb of the problem and he instantly exchanged our room to a bigger and better room. Comped us for the previous nights and dinner for two on them for the remainder of our vacation. Changed what I thought was going to be a terrible stay, to one of the most memorable vacations. Truly a great staff and an even greater leader in the GM Caleb. I will be back in the future.

Rude tatooed front desk man who barely spoke even when asking where room was. Room had curtains opened so inside was over 90 and took an hour to get down to 75 and would cool no lower. Fan shuts down at 75 , rooms ending in 01 are greeted by a HUGE slamming door from first floor side entrance. This has been the same for four years we have visited. Free breakfast on Residence side is very underwhelming and begs you to buy breakfast at hotel restaurant, a good note to stay away from breakfast packages. Room staying hot, rude reception, throwaway free breakfast all make this a disappointment. Lots of alternatives if you must go to Jekyll

It is adequate. Overpriced but aren't they all now days.
It's older but still kind of cool. Great ocean views from our 4th floor suite.
The room wasn't particularly clean and the kitchen was poorly equipped. The balcony was uncovered and unusable most of the day..
I had little interaction with hotel staff but they seemed nice enough.

Do NOT support this hotel if you are an individual with a disability or if you respect anyone with a disability. The hotel staff (including supervisors) do NOT care about your rights, including those protections provided by the ADA. The staff violated both Federal and State law requiring State Troopers to come to the location to explain the law to them. The manager refuses to speak to you and allows the staff to continue to treat you rudely and disrespectfully. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Jekyll Island Authority should shut the place down and not allow them to rent the land.

After paying the $10 toll to enter Jekyl Island we discovered Residence Inn represents the south half with Courtyard in the north half. Spacious suites gave us plenty of room to relax and cook in an equipped kitchen with stove/oven, fridge/freezer amd microwave. Had a cockroach surprise when I lifted the kitchen towel before it scurried behind the oven so we are leaving the lights on. Easy access for relaxing beach time and a double pool with bridge and hot tub along with lawn games and plenty of outdoor seating give this property a family friendly resort feel. Staff friendly and accommodating. Glad we extended our visit to 2 days so we could see the sunrise at Driftwood Beach and relax (but we need more to do-why we van camp and travel the country!)

Ok, boring stuff out of the way: rooms, service, location blah blah it’s all great. Exactly what you expect at a nice tropical island beach resort. Brenda at the front desk though - MAN she’s great. You know it’s people like that that really make the difference between having an ok stay and excellent stay. She’s so awesome and really made the difference. She’s top notch professional (something that’s lacking these days in hospitality) and she really know’s her stuff and how to make your stay special plus she’s solution oriented.
Bill, One of the maintenance/care takers of the property, is the BEST too! He’s so friendly and accommodating and personable it really made me and my wife feel comfortable and at home. Mr. Harry too. Great guy. Oh also Bill if you see this we did bike the whole island that day and we brought plenty of water with us :)

The bed was hard as a rock. The TV did not give you an actual guide. Breakfast was horrible. The room did not get very cool. However, the hotel is beautiful and the service was great. Beautiful view and the pool and whirlpool were awesome. Beach access was wonderful. Never heard my neighbors, so that made it very nice. Beware that there is a daily charge of $20 for amenities whether you use them or not.

This was our first stay at Jekyll Island. While the location is outstanding, our experience at Residence was less than satisfactory. PROS: Location, location, location! The hotel is beachfront and the boardwalk to the beach is a plus. The pool area is very nice and probably the best part of this hotel. The room was very quiet and spacious with a kitchen which was nice. Now the CONS ... we reserved an ocean view room. We were in Room 219 but to call this ocean view is almost insulting. Yes you can see the ocean from your balcony but only if you're standing up. You also get a great view of the roof. Our vision of sitting on the balcony enjoying our morning coffee was not to be. If you sit down you absolutely cannot see the ocean. As it was my wife's birthday weekend, we were disappointed. The vent in the bathroom did not work at all. There was a handle missing on one of the drawers in the dressing area and there were dirty dishes in the cabinet. The air conditioner would intermittently turn off. The pillows were very soft and flat so if you need some support, bring your own. The included breakfast was subpar. For the price we paid, we were definitely disappointed with this hotel. While we will be back to Jekyll Island, we will choose a different hotel in the future. Not what we were expecting for a Marriott or for the cost of this room.

Ahh...To sit outside on your own private balcony and watch the waves roll in. This is the place. But the shining star of this hotel is THE FOOD! The Mahi sandwich is to die for. (Best one I had on the whole island) and the staff was so nice.
Already planning our next vacation there.

My family was there for 3 days (April 4-7th). Although we had a great time, we were very disappointed that the pool was not heated during our 3 day stay, although it is advertised as being a heated pool. We visited 2 or 3 years ago in April and the pool was nice and warm. This time the pool was freezing, and most of the children wouldn't even go in the pool, thus the hottub was consistently loaded with kids between the ages of 5 and 10. We have stayed at the Westin up the road in the past and they too have a heated pool. We walked to the Westin on Saturday, and I dipped my hand in the pool to feel the temperature and it was nice and warm. Although the staff and service was great, this left us pretty disappointed because the heated pool was a huge factor in us decided to visit this hotel in April. I have reached out to Marriott to hopefully get refunded one of our free night certificates.

Wonderful stay at this beach front property. The rooms were spacious and was comfortable for a family of four. Didn't use the pool but saw a lot of families enjoying and it appeared to be a good size. Each staff member we met was friendly and welcomed us with a smile.
