To be clear, my experience is with the roof top restaurant and the service I received on my last two visits.
Outstanding. The team is new (believed to be under new ownership or management) --- but my experience on both visits were great. The views are about the best for St Simons Island ... and the happy hour prices cannot be beat.
Regardless of any past experiences, lighten up --- and give them another try. Bartender is very willing to accommodate anything he has access to for making you the perfect cocktail. The appetizers are perfect and the burger is great. YOU cannot beat the prices, the view, and the service. What more can you expect. The world needs to just relax and stop being so critical and mean. Enjoy it, be glad you're on the island .... good grief enjoy it.

My wife and I have been vacationing at the resort for several years. This trip was by far the very best. It starts with Chef/Manager Matt. He sets a wonderful example for his employees… friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and a plethora of positive attributes. The much needed improvements in the hotel were everywhere: the front desk, the rooftop bar/restaurant , overall cleanliness plus a wonderful staff. Loved the front desk ladies, the maintenance workers, servers, maids and our bartender. Great location. Thank you, Matt and too many friends to list.

Great place to stay. Amy and Kim and the others took care of us. Great bfast selection. Jimmy Dean Biscuits. Great access to the beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas for free and towels. good parking under. walking distance to good food. We did not get to try the 5th floor food.

Excellent experience! Room was very nice, only could use a little maintenance but extremely comfortable and roomy. Service was the best! Staff is very friendly and helpful!

This is an amazing resort. The beach is a short walk across a 2 lane street that's not too busy. The balcony is perfect for viewing the beach. There are properties all around, but it absolutely doesn't seem like it.The island seafood is absolutely worth going out every day. And, you get a lot for the price.The staff is also great. Deonte(bartender) made us amazing drinks when we asked for him to just put together something different. Star(hotel staff) made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Toney(hotel staff) personally took the time to help me to the car. You could walk to the many local shops but driving is best because you will have bags. There is a pier where you can bring the setup and just fish. it even has benches to sit on. They are within walking distance of each other for the family that has shoppers and fishermen to still be in a safe distance from each other. I did feel safe being alone and walking to those shops.
Rooms: Large clean comfortable
Safety: Felt extremely safe moving about alone or with my beau
Walkability: Could walk, but probably will have shopping bags and to go plated, so I wouldn't recommend it.
Noteworthy details: When you want the feeling of being free from everything but with all the comforts.

This was our first time at St. Simon and this resort. We loved everything about this town and the resort. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. We loved being able to have access to beach towels and beach chairs. The staff was very helpful with all of our questions and needs. The location was EXCELLENT. It was just a few steps away from the beach. We absolutely loved that the beach was not crowded either. Only thing we didn't like is the cleanliness or tidyness of the rooms. Just a tad bit dusty for our taste. Highly recommend it regardless.

My husband and I came for the weekend. We wanted to stay somewhere that was pet friendly, had a balcony, and walking distance to the beach. Ocean Lodge knocked those things out of the park for us! Room was very spacious as well as the balcony. Our only complaint is that the rooftop restaurant & bar isn’t open very long and the menu online is different than in the restaurant. They are going through some changes with management & upgrades so that might change. We would definitely come back and stay again!
Rooms: Very spacious room & balcony! Also has a full kitchen
Walkability: Short walk to the beach. We also walked to some nearby restaurants.

Can't beat the location and the staff were friendly, but those are my only positives. Room was HALF the size of what the website shows. Apparently we were given a "renovated room." Half of the light switches lead to nowhere, phone didn't work, shower dripped all night. The breakfast was the worst I have ever seen. The same food was out Monday at 4 when we arrived. Rock hard bagels and croissants, milk in a pitcher with not a pleasant smell. We would not stay again.

There were some electrical problems in the room about 3 different problems, therefore I gave it 4 stars, I probably should've only given it 3.5 stars. Other than that, it was good ??.
Nearby activities: The Dolphin cruise was great ??. I loved the fishing pier, Neptune Park & Massengale Park / beach ⛱️ as well.

I truly enjoyed my stay. Our room looked like a Presidential Suite. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Tony was amazing!!!. The property is right across from the beach and we had ocean views from our room.

Unfortunately we did not get to stay here.
We received a call from the front desk 10 minutes after check in (4:10pm) to tell us they didn't have a room for us! We reserved and paid for a room for my birthday 2 months prior. The morning of arrival, we received the check in information, including room # before we made the 5hr drive. No apologies and they didn't even try to help with our situation. We were given the number to speak to the manager and that was it. Of course we immediately called and it went right to voicemail. We never received a call back!
How a resort like this can do this to a family traveling without any apologies or trying to compensate for anything, not even a recommendation of where to go, is absolutely appalling.

When our family of 6 soon to be 7 decides to vacation to the beach with all of our kids/family that comes in town to visit we will only book here!! The service is outstanding. The rooms, view stunning. Only a few second walk to the beach across the street, not bad at all when carting around two little ones. It’s a great area, everyone is very nice. The hotel and beach is very peaceful and clean. I would like to shout out MS. Sharenna Mobley, she is phenomenal. Outgoing, happy, helpful, always smiling, she went above and beyond for my husband, kids and I to have an outstanding time here.
We highly recommend the Ocean Lodge, and once again a huge thank you to MS, Mobley for making our long weekend everything we wanted it to be and more!
