My dogs and I are so grateful to the whole team at South Pointe ! Dr. Mayer is very informative and thorough in her care, as well as always willing to help me find alternative options for care when finances are tight. Check-in and -out can sometimes be slow, but the staff and office atmosphere are always pleasant enough to be content in the waiting. I’m grateful to have been recommended South Pointe Animal Hospital for my animals and will always recommend them to anyone looking for veterinary care. Wagging tails and a thumbs up! ???

Dr. Mayer and her staff are friendly and kind.
They stagger appointments so there are never too many pets in the waiting room at a time.
Dr. Mayer has even called to check how my cats were doing (eye infection).
When I took all 3 cats at once the front desk receptionist helped me bring them in.
The prices are reasonable and Dr. Mayer makes sure to ask if you have any additional concerns or questions. If you come up with a question later you can call and they will call you back.
I am so glad I found this veterinarian clinic! ?

The staff is very friendly and the waiting area is clean. Dr. Mayer is very nice. She takes extra care of the pets and always explains each issue so that you fully know what is going on. She treats your pet as though they were her own. She is the vet for me and my fur baby Bella .

I live behind this vet in the woods. Last Saturday a tree limb fell and blocked carswell st. I, in the pouring rain, grabbed my chainsaw and went to work and cleared the street. I drug the limbs across the street. Job well done right? Wrong...
The owner of the property across the street contacted me and asked if I could remove the limbs as they are not his. At 6 in the evening, broad daylight, I drug the limbs back across the street and piled them on the vets curb for thier yard boy to handle. Here Monday, I'm pulling in my driveway after a spectacular day, some toothless woman with blue hair and a blue Honda passes 3 no trespassing signs, pulled in my yard and cussed me out for illegal dumping. I called 12 and he tried to talk to the toothless woman and she wouldn't come to the door. She was just outside 5 minutes ago to tell at me again when I came to settle up. City of Hephzibah is coming to remove YALLS mess. I would like 50$ for clean up and use of my brand new chainsaw. Thanks for ruining a good Samaritans attitude today. Next time a limb falls, I'll go around....

My rescue Beagle, Sam, was seen by Dr Mayer the next morning after I called to see if the service could provide care for my sick dog, as a new patient. Upon arrival, the staff was courteous, helpful, and accommodating, just as I found Dr Mayer to be. She was thorough in her examination, studious in her approach to reviewing labs and other tests recently done. She asked many questions about his past history and treatment for several serious health problems when he was rescued, as it appeared he had “been on his own for about 5 years. She took particular interest in kidney problems and that’s where she concentrated her efforts. She developed of plan of care for him to achieve maximal health status for him. As she went along she was quick to explain what we needed to do to get him to his best state of health and why we were doing it. She wrote down drugs that I could order to improve/stabilize his kidney function and where to get them. Dr Mayer suggested labs that would further aid in treating him, but also let me know they were costly and left the decision up to me. She suggested another brand of prescription dog food for kidney problems which are more palatable and more in variety. She informed me of my role in his health care, which would help her help him. After the labs come back and the ordered meds arrive and he’s on them for a time, we will be targeting the areas of most concern. She was informative in telling me that since he has kidney failure there is a good chance we can improve his status, but once the kidneys fail, there will not be anything else we can do except for comfort measures until he passes away. I appreciated the fact that she told me the eventual outcome in a nice professional way. I was beyond pleased with her demeanor, her instructions to me, and how she handled the whole situation. I would strongly recommend her to friends and acquaintances who are in need of a Vet.
