Helen Georgia is a quaint American/German town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s not a large town so you can see most things in a few days. There is even a Festhalle for their Oktoberfest in September. I know, the dates sound messed up. You can choose from multiple places to stay from hotels to bed & breakfasts. The numerous restaurants of different cultures give you just the place for what you crave. The German restaurants are the showcase restaurants of the town since they are a recreation of a German town. The many shops and bakers round out the list of things central to the town.
I will start with the place we stayed, the Valhalla Resort Hotel. Located at the resort are the Solasta Spa, Caledonia Fine Dining, Sky Bar Bistro, Staghorn Grill & Pizzeria, and golf. The resort is a little out of town in the adjacent hills. The roads are narrow in some places, with tight turns, and sudden stop signs. You pass a guard shack for the entrance to the resort area where you show why you are entering. The driveway to the hotel door circle is narrow and a tight turn. The outside of the hotel is very plain. One of the great perks of the hotel is the free valet parking, just tip and go. The lobby is open, well-lit, and clean. Check-in was easy and our bags were taken to our room. The hotel also has 3 Tesla charging stations. The resort is handicap accessible.
We were in a penthouse deluxe king room. The room is large with everything we needed, a TV in the living room area and one in the bedroom area but there is no streaming service. You can watch movies offline from a USB device if you bring one. There is a gas fireplace with a timer, a two-sink bathroom, a safe, a fridge, a snack basket, and a large shower. There is no ice machine. If you want ice, you have to call the valet. There is a desk and chair in the living area. The couch and chair are comfortable. The sofa is soft, but not to the point I would consider excessive. There are plenty of plug-ins on the lamps but no USB ports. The bed and pillows are comfortable. They are soft but not excessive. The air-conditioner is close to the bed. I found it a little noisy when trying to sleep. We enjoyed sitting outside on the small balcony. There are 2 chairs and a table. The pool area is well set up with a grill area, cabanas, and poolside seating. The view from our room is breathtaking watching the sunrise over the mist-filled Blue Ridge Mountains. We had a very nice stay at the Valhalla Resort. I would stay there again if I went back to Helen.

I visited the Caledonia room for lunch today & was pleasantly surprised at the tastiness of the meal as well as how reasonably priced it was for such an upscale resort. I enjoyed the garden salad with salmon & my son enjoyed the blackened Mahi tuna sandwich with fries. We were somewhat preparing for the worst after experiencing the mediocre bar food in the town of Helen, but this exceeded our expectations. From now on, I'll be sure to return to this resort every time I visit Helen.

We first toured our wedding venue in January 2024 and instantly booked for our wedding on October 26th. We had such an amazing wedding day; it was everything I wished for! Michiela took the stress out of planning! She was incredible and had everything planned down to the minute from coming to our rooms to get us (even fixing my hair) to the ceremony, to pictures, to the first dance, to the cake cutting, to the garter and bouquet toss, etc.. I could go on and on but in the end, IT WAS PERFECT! A huge thanks to Michiela and also our bartender in the Sky Bar (reception) Kera! You guys ROCK!
PS- Judy is super welcoming! Love her too!

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Valhalla, GA Golf Resort, and it was truly unforgettable! The resort provided the perfect setting for our special occasion, with its stunning scenery and tranquil atmosphere. The golf course was both beautiful and well-kept, offering us hours of enjoyment. The staff made us feel warmly welcomed and even added thoughtful touches to make our celebration extra special. Our room was spacious, elegantly designed, and had a breathtaking view of the course. Dining was a treat, with exceptional options that made each meal memorable. Valhalla is the perfect destination for a celebration or simply a relaxing getaway—we’ll cherish this experience for years to come!

I’m not even sure where to start with this. The fact that they somehow have a 4 star rating is beyond me. The rooms are wildly outdated. Everything is dingy and gross. Not like it doesn’t get cleaned, it’s just OLD and needs to be replaced. The bathrooms are gross, the toilet paper has been mentioned by other reviewers, and despite what the property says, it really is low quality. The TVs are from circa 2009 probably? You won’t be able to cast to them. Just feels like if you’re paying $300 per night MINIMUM, you should be getting a higher quality stay. Don’t bother with the room service breakfast, you’ll get better quality at McDonald’s and for a quarter of the price.
As for the service from staff, most of the interactions were fine. Susannah specifically is very nice. Judy, however, was the cherry on top of an awful experience. I was locked out of my room (because they only give you one key) and patiently waited while she spoke with another guest at length about golf. At least ten minutes went by and she did not acknowledge me. Only when another staff member came up to ask me how she could help, and informed Judy she would need to help me, did she even glance at me. She rolled her eyes and apologized to the other guest for my interruption and handed me a key without a word. I came back with another question about ten minutes later and she was still talking to the same guest and again seemed annoyed that I was there. I told her I wanted to cancel my next nights reservation and her response was “why, because you couldn’t get a view without paying more?”. Ma’am. I am more than capable of paying for an upgraded room. What I don’t like is being treated as though I am lesser than, and therefore unworthy of decent hospitality because of your judgments.
This entire experience was so disappointing. Save yourself the money and disappointment and stay at one of the other places in town.
Valhalla property, don’t bother with whatever snarky response you feel like coming up with. Ive seen your responses to other guests who have left bad reviews and it’s unnecessary, and unprofessional.

We had to evacuate due to Hurricane Milton and found this amazing place. All the staff at Guest Services, House Keeping, the restaurants, bar, spa (including the manager), and any one else we encountered at this resort were wonderful. They even let us take their golf cart to drive their beautiful 18 hole course that was more like a fun four wheeling experience. We never imagined we would find such a great resort and an idyllic town in Helen, GA.

We rented a townhouse & it was perfect (almost)! Location - loved it! Amenities were great! House was well stocked with cooking/baking supplies & utensils. Spacious eating area, spacious seating in family room, ample room in the garage. Beds are soft (did not bother me) but did 2 other guests. Extra towels would be nice (only 1 per person & we wash after each use). Beach towels was a nice bonus for after tubing the river! We forgot push sticks in the garage & had to buy some. Nice, they were available, though!

As avid golfers we have visited the course many times and felt it would be perfect for our elopement! It was truly a wonderful day. Special thanks to our wedding coordinator Michiela, 10 out of 10 for her recommendations on photographer Hannah from HLS Photography, Beauty by Noel and Dr. Rich Griffith. Michiela's organization was very efficient and professional and the day was romantic, relaxing and easy. I would highly recommend Valhalla Resort for any wedding or elopement. Thank you for a very memorable and perfect wedding day!

This place rocks!!! The staff is very attentive, nice, professional, informative, and overall awesome!! The whole experience was like you went to a family member's home. Very welcoming! My dog was treated as well as I was! Little to no restrictions on where the dogs can go which is fabulous!! They even provided poopy bags and treats, as well as, bowls for them to eat and drink out of. The room was very spacious and you walked right out sliding glass door onto a gated patio and then onto the grass, no elevators were involved and taking your pet out.
I had both dinner and breakfast at this location and the food was delicious. Cooked to perfection! And you're greeted with a glass of champagne how awesome is that?!! In the room were robes and slippers.
Beautiful location, beautiful hotel, beautiful property, and well maintained! I would not say it's walking distance to town because it's very steep.

We had made a tradition out of coming here for anniversary. Service declines every year as does the property. Instead of finding a few rude staff members here and there, it seems to be the majority now. Definitely not a five star stay. I would rate this on level with the three star hotels, we stay at when traveling
