“Man, I wish I had bought something here and I regret it. Excellent artistry in their pottery. The building is really neat, as it’s an old mill, and you can feed the trout off the back deck overhanging the river. Thanks to the unnamed local who bought the fish food for us to feed the amazing trout with.”
“Awesome place! Great gifts for anyone, lots of beautiful things making so hard to choose...enjoyed the unique items instead of the run-of-the-mill commercial stuff. Owner is wonderful and obviously loves her store. Had to purchase a few things to bring back home as souvenirs!”
“I kept saying I'd stop in to the pottery shop, and then my sister in law said she'd like to go, so we did! They have several collections of pottery sorted by color and style. Many functional items, as well as just plain nice to look at pieces. They have many other items such as fabrics, candles, etc. Walking around the old house is an absolute treat. I purchased an orchid pot in the most beautiful shades of green and brown. Be sure to slow down and stop in.”
“My friends and I visited The Gourd Place yesterday. Priscilla was so kind and accomodating. She responding quickly to our reservation request and when we arrived, shared the story of how The Gourd Place came about. We were so impressed with the level of artistry that we all purchased a piece to take home. Thank you for taking your time to share your passion, Priscilla, and for displaying your collection of gourds from around the world. We plan on bringing friends and family back.”
“Full disclosure, I am a volunteer and an artist here. This is a great group of people, very friendly and welcoming. Prices for art are very reasonable. Half of the building is the Helen Historical Museum which explains what Helen used to be and has information about the annual Hot Air Balloon Race. The other half is a gallery and gift shop with local artists. The gallery and museum both change their displays several times a year to reflect current events. The Center has free classes for veterans with professional artists donating their time to give back to the veterans that have already sacrificed so much.”
