November 2023 by Brenda D
Prior to my dad’s death I had no exposure to funerals, funeral homes, or any sort of funeral planning. I had been to one funeral when I was 12 and that was it. I had heard horror stories of funeral homes taking advantage of your grief to upsell you as much as possible. I came into Memorial Park Funeral Home braced to keep a level head and hold my ground. My dad was a practical man and would’ve been livid if we spent a fortune on his funeral. But to my pleasant surprise, none of the things I had been warned about were true. From picking my father up at the nursing home where he passed to discussing different options for the viewing, memorial services, and cremations, not once did I feel I was being upsold. In fact, I was touched at how sincere the funeral directors were and how they went above and beyond to accommodate my family’s cultural ceremonies. I was hesitant as I was also not familiar with Buddhist ceremonies and was working as the middleman and translator between the funeral directors and my family. The man who worked the Crematorium was originally not available the day of my father’s funeral. But since Buddhist tradition dictates that the body must be cremated the day of the other ceremonies were done, my family wanted me to see if it would be possible to push the cremation to the same day. I told them it was unlikely they would be able to make that change on such short notice, but to my surprise they were able to make it happen!I’m eternally grateful for the sincerity, compassion, and adaptability of the staff at Memorial Park Funeral home. I’m still not sure if the stereotypes about upselling are true at other funeral homes, but my family’s experience here was exceptional.

We got our pet cremated here. Amazing service by Jennifer Duncan. We were super upset about our pet passing and she answered all of our questions and was very comforting. She went above and beyond for us. You can tell she actually cares about what she does and the people she helps.

On my way to Hall county Sheriff's Department I happened to pass by this memorial cemetery. Stopped here a few times throughout the week while I was running errands in the Gainesville area of Hall County. I usually visit cemeteries to learn a bit of history wherever I am. Aside from funeral ceremonies, there's plenty of history here. From erected statues dedicated to the history of USA presidents, economic growth, and amazing biblical stories. Very neat place.

I would not recommend using this funeral home. Everything was such a hassle. The staff does not communicate with each other. No one could give us information we needed. We were told we just had to wait and see. We were told to come in 3 days before the service to order flowers but when we got there they told us that their flower catalogues were old and they didn’t know what flowers were offered now and that we should just go to a florist for the flowers. This left us scrambling to get flowers in 3 days. They also made programs for us but couldn’t tell us or show us what they would look like so we saw them for the first time at the service. Do not use this funeral home unless you want to deal with a complicated hassle while already grieving.

I would not recommend using this funeral home. They were hard to get in touch with throughout the process. No one who worked there seemed to communicate so we got different stories for everything we tried to arrange. No one could tell us simple details and kept saying we just had to wait and see. We were told to come in 3 days before the service to pick out flowers and they told us that their flower catalogues were old and that we should really arrange for flowers from a florist. At that point we had to scramble to get flowers in 3 days. Do not use this funeral home. It made the grieving of a loved one so much harder and complicated then it needed to be.

They did a good job with transporting and burying my grandfather but 7 grand and 7 months later we still haven't seen his headstone placed there. We were aware of a wait but they said June at the latest. It's halfway through July and still no headstone.

Memorial Park Funeral Home is who buries all of my family! A couple of weeks ago they took care of the body of one of my cousins that was killed in an accident on Lula road and I am going to say this really loud…..THANK YOU for taking such great care of my family! There was nothing but professionalism and love shown from the time they got the call to pick her body up at the hospital until the day of the service! They listened to every concern and detail and followed it out exactly like her Dad wanted it to be. If you are faced with a decision on choosing a funeral home make sure it’s Memorial Park in Gainesville or any of their other locations!

My boyfriend passed away recently and as hurricane Ian came ashore it damaged exactly where he was supposed to be transported. While we wait for a safe transport I can’t thank these people enough for all they’ve done for me and his family. Every singlePerson who works there has shown so much compassion and understanding. I couldn’t have asked for a better place for him to end up after he passed and not have to worry about anything. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you to Patrick for putting up with my demands lol, thank you to Kevin for always answering the phone. To the ladies in the front for comforting me helping me pick out jewelry with zero pressure to buy until I was ready and can afford it. Just thank you to everyone here for making the worse time in my life a little more easy to handle. Thank you for making me smile n laugh on the hard days of visiting. You have no idea what it means to have people on your side when you need it most. Thank you for taking such good care of my love and keeping him safe. Thank you and I adore you all.

If I could give no stars I would. I now have 3 family members buried at this location. Unfortunately, you don't know how unprofessional and the misconduct that goes on until it happens to you. I will edit this post when I get my hands on the particular Director that was in charge of the service as he needs to be put on blast for his deceitful and unprofessional conduct. I received a life insurance policy where I was the beneficiary. This man (director) walked me to another building to Mary who is in charge of policies. At no point did anyone in this establishment tell or explain to me that I was signing over a 5000 check to them. NO ONE. That check was not meant to pay funeral expenses but this man and Lori Maney swindled and stole and when I say stole that's exactly what they did. It is so sad that a funeral home takes advantage of you at a vulnerable time. It's quite despicable. Right in front of me he took that check put it in a folder and smiled at my sister Lori as if they won. I have YET to receive a call back after 5 times calling from Kevin Wetzel. At this point nobody wants to take responsibility for their wrong doing and wont take my calls. The one time I did speak to funeral director I asked for my 2 copies of the death certificates when they come in after all I did pay for them. He stated to me thats not how it works. The death certificates go to the "informant" ok make me an informant. Nope can't do that either. He had no problem taking a 5000 check but I cant get the death certificates I paid for. So when he looked at Lori Maney and smiled earlier they did win THAT day. I wouldn't have minded paying for my portion of the funeral and my siblings were too but greed came before honesty and quite frankly I am mind boggled by how he sleeps at night. The funeral director for the service was Danny Baugh. And again no return call as of 8-10-2022

Thank you so much to all the staff at Memorial Park Funeral Home. They were helpful and comforting to us during my Mother-in-law's visitation, funeral, and graveside service. We called with questions and they were all answered quickly. They are knowledgeable and very prepared to handle all situations surrounding a loved ones passing. I highly recommend this funeral home if you should need their services.

When my mom passed they treated us like family and and did everything possible to make the financial burden as light for us as possible seeing as mom had no prior planning nor insurance. They treated our whole family and our mother with respect and dignity.I want to say thank you to their team.

This place needs to be cleaned. The room we rented for $350 to have our family gather for a meal wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. I had to Clean all the tables off before I could even place the food on them. The refrigerate was extremely sticky and clearly dirty on the outside!!! They need to Hire some cleaning personal ! All the high touched areas were Dirty Sticky! I know they are extremely busy due to the Covid but there’s no excuse…. If they would have someone to Lysol things even wipe down the bathrooms with Lysol disinfectant this would help! It would also be a good idea to Even Lysol things down before and after All funerals! The odor is bad ,maybe change the air filters. The outside front trash cans were running over with debris, cigarette butts everywhere . The pictures I posted are the entrance ways to the eating rooms ! Very disappointed ☹️.
