The workers and volunteers at this place are AMAZING PEOPLE!! I did a Transport for a local dog rescue from this shelter and was so impressed by the facility and the people.

The volunteers at the shelter are amazing. Ellijay paws in need does so much for the shelter and community. Definitely recommend supporting them. They also have experienced match makers to ensure the dog you adopt is a good fit for your family.

Such appreciative folks who thajknyou profusely for d9nated food. They go above and beyond for any and all animals in the community, and do everything they possibly can to keep animals moving along to good fosters/forever homes.

From Gilmer County Animal Shelter
Gilmer County Animal Shelter is a county operated facility. We house unwanted, neglected and abused animals that are domesticated and can also be put up for adoption. Due to limited resources and space, we do our best to get them placed with rescues or reunited with their families as quickly as possible. .
Gilmer County Animal Control also operates directly through the shelter. All Animal Control issues pertaining to domesticated animals only can be directed through the Animal Shelter.
