Warning: Urgent Safety Concerns at Sunshine House of Duluth4/11/2024 update: They remain under investigation for allegations of child abuse and harming children. According to the investigator, sanctions are likely based on current findings from the video footage obtained thus far. I'm sharing this out of concern, urging you to reconsider enrolling your child here to avoid potential risks. I'll provide further updates as the investigation unfolds. As a concerned parent, I must urgently bring to light the distressing situation unfolding at Sunshine House of Duluth. My foremost concern is the ongoing investigation into possible cases of child abuse within the facility, including my own child. While details of this investigation are still emerging, it's imperative that parents exercise extreme caution and consideration. In addition to these deeply troubling allegations, there are serious safety lapses at Sunshine House that cannot be ignored. Multiple instances have occurred where children have been able to open an unsecured wooden gate, potentially leaving the daycare premises unsupervised. The most alarming incident involved a child leaving the playground unnoticed, only to be discovered by an outsider. Such negligence is utterly unacceptable and places our children in grave danger. These safety concerns are not isolated incidents but indicative of systemic problems within the facility. Despite raising these issues with the director, the response has been inadequate, with minimal measures taken to address the root cause. Adding a flimsy wire to the gate does not suffice and may even hinder emergency evacuation efforts.Furthermore, it is deeply troubling to learn that corporate is aware of these safety issues yet has failed to implement effective solutions. This blatant disregard for the safety of our children is unacceptable and cannot be overlooked. In light of these serious safety lapses and the ongoing investigation into child abuse, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw my child from Sunshine House of Duluth. I implore other parents to prioritize their child's safety above all else and seek alternative daycare options that prioritize proper supervision and adhere to safety regulations. Please choose a daycare that fosters a safe and secure environment for our children.

Unfortunately I have to leave this review to prevent something worse from happening…. I had my daughter in this daycare but I had to take her out because in this school they have a door in the playground that faces the street, (with car traffic, mule unloading and people passing by) and it is not secured. At that moment the director assured me that the door could not be secured because it was an emergency exit and that whenever the children went out to play a teacher would stand there but I honestly do not understand how a daycare does not have a lock on a gate to prevent that a stranger enters and steals a child or attacks him or a child accidentally gets out. And three months after (last week) I made the decision to withdraw my daughter from that school for that reason. A child got out and it was not thanks to a teacher that they realized that he got out, it was thanks to a friend who reported that the child got out. That's why they caught up with him. And even with everything that happened, the boy was suspended for 2 days for bad behavior. This is the last straw. At the time I reported the door, when my daughter was still attending daycare (prek), Professor Estell invented that the principal had told me that the door was going to stay as it was whether I liked it or not and that they had me on video where I was the one who had damaged the door. I don't know why he said that. I don't know why he invented that the door was damaged. The door was always good. What it does not have is any type of security to prevent a disaster. Someone can come in and do something against the children. With so much shooting, it should not be normal to have that door with such easy access to an educational institution. A child can be lost.It is already known that the teacher is not at the door as the director assured. If you are thinking about enrolling your child in this school, please be sure about the door theme, there are two of them. One made of wood and another fence. None have control. This is a topic that should be addressed with Bright from the start. Thank you

I am the father of a 5-year-old child who is worried about the safety of the children since there is a door in the playground or playground that has been damaged for a long time and they are not able to repair it. A week ago, a boy who was my son's friend ran away into the street and if it wasn't for my son running to tell the teacher, no one would have noticed that the other boy ran out into the street. They never notified us or gave us a report when I went to ask, they only told me that my son was not involved in which I responded that he was involved because he was the one who gave notice that the other child was on the street that door opens to a Passage of cargo vehicles and trucks, something very dangerous THANK GOD MY SON TOLD TO GO TO WARN THE TEACHER AND HE DIDN'T GET OUT WITH HIS COMPANION. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ALL CHILDREN. THE STAFF IS UNPROFESSIONAL ESPECIALLY WITH PEOPLE OF LATIN ETHNICITY OR WHO DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

Urgent Safety Concerns - Unprofessional Behavior by Director and Lack of Child Safety MeasuresI am writing this review as a concerned parent who recently had to make the difficult decision to remove our child from the PK classroom due to serious safety concerns at the childcare center. It is with a heavy heart that I share our experience, hoping it will prompt necessary changes for the well-being of all children in THIS SECTOR’S care. Our primary concern is the unprofessional behavior exhibited by the Director, Rosalyn who seems consistently preoccupied with her phone rather than attending to the needs of the parents and ensuring the safety of the children. On several occasions, my wife attempted to communicate with her, only to find the Director engrossed in her phone, even laughing loudly while disregarding our presence. This lack of professionalism is disheartening and raises doubts about the overall quality of the childcare provided. Our major safety concern revolves around an incident a week before the PK classes ended. The outdoor fence, crucial for ensuring the safety of the children, was found open, exposing them to potential dangers. When my wife brought this to the Director's attention, she initially feigned surprise and assured corrective action. However, to our dismay, the fence remained open throughout the week of closure, indicating a lack of urgency and commitment to child safety.Despite wife’s repeated attempts to address the issue, the Director was dismissive and uncooperative, providing excuses about an escape route in case of emergencies instead of implementing a timely and secure solution. This lack of responsiveness and failure to prioritize child safety is deeply troubling.Furthermore, the Director's emotional manipulation when my wife expressed concerns about our child's safety was particularly distressing. Instead of engaging constructively to address the issue, the Director attempted to guilt-trip and discourage us from raising concerns.I implore the CEO, to thoroughly investigate these matters. Parents place an immense amount of trust in childcare centers, expecting not only educational enrichment but, most importantly, a safe and nurturing environment for their children. In the spirit of transparency and accountability, we hope this review serves as a catalyst for positive change within the childcare center.

As a trained teacher having taught at most levels, I know 1st hand the special type of people it takes to not just teach or care for daily but nurture, support wholly, and love without boundaries our children. The team at Sunshine House Duluth is just that. It’s not easy as a mom, especially a new mom, coming from a different country, to trust your child with strangers. It certainly is a leap of faith! I’m thankful my leap led me to Sunshine House Duluth! My son started going at 5months old and they have literally helped me raise him into the little human that he is today. From Ms Rosalyn, to Ms Diane, Ms Danaysia, Ms Estelle, Ms Shenee, Ms Ivory and others who have been like his second parents, I could not thank them enough or recommend them more highly! THANK YOU guys for everything you have done for us over the past 3yrs!If you are in the Gwinnett area and looking for not just a daycare, but a place where your children can go and feel loved, supported, taken care of and safe, while also learning, growing, and soaring to the heights of excellence, there is absolutely no better place than with the team at the Sunshine House Duluth. Don’t believe me, let my son tell it, he calls every single teacher by name every night in listing what and who he is thankful for!Infinity/10 if you ask us!

I called to inquire about pricing and after I asked whoever is at the front desk right now (11/11/21 at 3:11pm) sat there while I listened to employees talks in the background and then hung up. Not professional or respectful.

Terrible when it comes to everyday prices, for example we paid 95 dollars a week but due to a busted pipe, children's weren't allowed to go in for 2 days so instead of reinbursing you they give enough a 20 dollar credit.

Love the sunshine house my daughter is going to be a year old in a week and she has been there since she was 7 weeks old and has learned so much. The teachers are amazing in the infant classroom they treat her as if she were their own. I get updates on the app all day to let me know what she’s doing. The directors are also great and take out time with each individual kid.
